Genshin Impact: I Became The Son Of Greater Lord Rukkhadevata

Chapter 59: Chapter 59: Artillery

The burning flame within Xiaochen boiled, and her bright eyes emitted a crimson glow, as if flames were raging within them.

Standing near her, Xiao could feel an unbearable heat radiating from her, making him deeply uncomfortable.

With a swift motion, Xiao summoned a whirlwind to send Xiaochen flying backward, while also cooling himself off in the process.

In response, Xiaochen conjured a series of glowing red spears made of rock, each one releasing wisps of smoke upon contact with the air, their power undeniable at a glance.

Xiao noticed that while Xiaochen's defenses had slightly weakened, her strength and speed had increased dramatically. Her body radiated an oppressive heat that made standing near her intolerable. It was clear—he needed to take this fight seriously.

---

"I sense a familiar energy in her," Xiao, now in his Yaksha form, muttered as he glanced at Xiaochen, who lay gasping for breath on the ground. He directed his words towards Zhongli, the Geo Archon. "She reminds me of Brother Yu from centuries ago, except while Yu could maintain this state indefinitely, she can only manage it temporarily."

Xiao wasn't entirely pleased with how the fight had gone. The most irritating part? His eyebrows had been singed off. But this was his lady, after all. I'll endure.

"Her combat experience is still lacking. From now on, you two will train with her," Zhongli instructed, his voice calm and commanding.

"Understood," came the synchronized reply from Xiao and Bosacius.

Scarlet King Tech.

The Scarlet King, dressed in a pristine white lab coat, tinkered with a handheld cannon. True to its name, the weapon utilized electrically charged crystals and other energy-rich minerals, designed as a portable weapon for individual use. While its firepower was impressive, its weight, short range, and awkward handling were glaring drawbacks.

Hearing an explosion from outside, the Scarlet King sighed, already feeling the onset of another headache.

A few days ago, some students from the Akademiya had come to intern under him. While their talent was undeniable, their attitude was far too lax. Tasks that should have taken half a day were completed in two hours, leaving them the rest of the time to loaf around or indulge in their hobbies.

One such intern, a petite red-haired girl, worked with astonishing efficiency—but her obsession with explosives was troubling. She frequently borrowed the weapon testing grounds to experiment with bombs, requiring constant replacement of equipment. Judging by the sound outside, today was no different.

Weapons Testing Grounds

Alice was having the time of her life. This place was so much more exciting than the Akademiya! Here, she could freely experiment with bombs to her heart's content. She was already planning to graduate early and apply for a permanent position at Scarlet King Tech. She would dedicate herself to her passion and become a truly valuable researcher! (Though, in the end, she'd get fired for blowing up the lab.)

---

Adjacent Testing Grounds

The Scarlet King stood with a group, experimenting with a new weapon. Each muscular assistant held a large cylindrical launcher, wearing insulated gloves. They carefully loaded the devices with electrically charged crystals.

Boom!

The weapon's firepower seemed satisfactory. Flames roared into the sky, and massive boulders shattered under the impact. Yet, as they glanced at the fiery chaos happening in the adjacent grounds, they couldn't help but pause in contemplation.

"It's still not powerful enough!" The Scarlet King frowned, feeling the weight of a new challenge.

"But, Boss," one of the assistants suggested earnestly, "if we increase the power any further, the range will become an issue."

"We can adjust the trajectory. That's a solvable problem," he replied confidently.

Ultimately, the Scarlet King opted for a new design. Instead of firing traditional projectiles, the cannon was converted into a bomb launcher, combining extended range with greater destructive power.

From that moment, the Scarlet King felt his title as Teyvat's foremost technological Archon being challenged.

Yu finally returned from his ventures. Bored and restless, he decided to playfully tease Nahida. Unfortunately, Greater Lord Rukkhadevata immediately kicked him out, scolding him for being reckless and dragging his sister into his antics. Left with no choice, Yu wandered over to Scarlet King Tech. in search of something to pique his interest.

Walking through the desert, Yu muttered to himself, What's so bad about being reckless? All I did was uproot a massive tree to show Nahida how it's done. She seemed curious about trying it herself, but then I got scolded. Totally uncalled for.

As he stepped through the company's entrance, Yu froze in shock. Before him stood a massive cannon, angled at a 45-degree incline. It was dozens of meters long, its sheer size defying reason.

"Bring that part over here!" the Scarlet King shouted to his workers.

A gigantic component—larger than a person—was slowly hauled out from the workshop. It appeared to be a base structure for the colossal weapon. After considerable effort, it was finally assembled.

The cannon now loomed before Yu in all its glory: a weapon with a barrel stretching tens of meters, weighing several tons, and with a diameter so wide that a person could comfortably lie inside.

"Scarlet King, what is this?" Yu asked, astonished.

The Scarlet King looked up, his expression lighting up with pride as he spotted Yu. "Ah, you're just in time! Remember that concept drawing you gave me for a handheld cannon? Well, I thought the original idea was too small and lacked impact, so I made some adjustments. Let me show you."

Excitedly, the Scarlet King began explaining his creation. "The barrel is crafted entirely from magically infused crystal, with rare metals added for both flexibility and durability. It uses electrically charged crystals for energy, but it can also be powered by elemental energy. I optimized the elemental energy transmission pathways to minimize energy loss. The range exceeds visual limits—we'll need to conduct test shots to determine its exact capabilities. To prevent overheating, I've installed large elemental fans that continuously disperse cryo energy. As for firepower, it's strong enough to kill a minor Archon. A few consecutive shots could probably take me down too."

The more Yu listened, the more elated he became. By the end, his eyes sparkled with delight. "Scarlet King, I love you! You're like a treasure trove of miracles!"
