Chapter 385: Chapter 385: The Feeling
Nolan subtly used his spiritual power to untie the ropes binding Thoma.
Kneeling on the ground, Thoma immediately realized what was happening when he felt the ropes loosen.
Taking advantage of the Shogunate soldiers' distraction, he suddenly sprang up, darted into the crowd, and disappeared without a trace.
"What?! The prisoner escaped! After him!"
The Shogunate soldiers finally snapped out of their earlier stupor.
However, they were no match for Thoma's speed. By the time they gave chase, Thoma had already vanished, leaving them clueless about which direction to pursue. In the end, they had no choice but to give up.
As for seeking help from the Yashiro Commission, that would require the direct involvement of the Tenryou Commission.
But even then, the Tenryou Commission wouldn't risk offending the Yashiro Commission, one of the Three Commissions, just to apprehend a mere housekeeper.
Thus, the "Vision Hunt Ceremony" came to an abrupt and anticlimactic end. The Shogunate soldiers and the citizens who had come to watch the ceremony began to disperse.
Nolan and his group followed the crowd as they left.
Walking along the streets of Inazuma City, Yoimiya looked at Nolan with sparkling eyes.
"I never expected you to be so incredible—you actually managed to take on General Raiden's 'Musou no Hitotachi'!"
"Haha, I just used some special techniques. I wouldn't have been able to handle it head-on," Nolan replied with a smile.
This was indeed the truth. If not for the combination of the "Rose Witch's Time Hourglass" and the "Battery Body," even his "Elemental Immunity," which reduced most elemental damage, wouldn't have been enough to withstand the attack.
After all, the Raiden Shogun was Level 120, while he was only Level 90. Theoretically, his "Elemental Immunity" would have its effectiveness reduced by 30% against her.
In other words, he could only negate 60% of the damage from the "Musou no Hitotachi."
The remaining portion would have been enough to turn him into ashes if he had taken it head-on.
The main reason he dared to attempt stopping the "Musou no Hitotachi" was his ability to manipulate time and the safety net provided by "Interstellar Travel," which allowed him to teleport away at any moment.
The former could halt the entire universe as long as he had enough energy, while the latter allowed him to ignore all obstacles and instantly teleport to someone with a "Waymark."
Since he was confident in these safeguards, he didn't want to flee and risk being hunted by the Raiden Shogun.
Moreover, his newly acquired racial trait, "Soul Rank," required him to accomplish feats worthy of admiration in order to continuously collect "Spiritual Energy."
Unsurprisingly, as word spread about him stopping the "Musou no Hitotachi," the "Soul Rank" would gain another notable source of "Spiritual Energy," in addition to his previous feats of repelling Dvalin in Mondstadt and defeating the ancient god Osial in Liyue.
However, as the news had yet to spread, the rate of "Spiritual Energy" collection remained unchanged for now.
At its current pace, it was estimated to be full by nightfall, at which point he could use it to grant himself or someone else a special trait.
All of this explained why he had taken the risk to stop the "Musou no Hitotachi."
What caught him slightly off guard, though, was the sheer speed of the Raiden Shogun's strike—he had barely reacted in time.
Of course, he had anticipated this possibility in advance, which was why he had equipped himself with the "Sword God" as a protective shell. It was far from being something as fragile as paper and provided him with just enough time to react.
After all, he had already stepped into the realm of Adeptus.
Although that might be the case, Nolan wasn't exactly eager to take another strike from the Shogun. After all, she now knew he could control time to stop her blade.
Next time, the Shogun might find a way to counter his abilities.
"Alright, Yoimiya, stop praising this guy already. No matter how strong he is, it's only when it comes to fighting," Paimon interjected, floating by Lumine's side.
"But when it comes to eating, this guy can't even hold a candle to me. And if it's about fireworks, he's not even a tenth as good as you!"
Paimon puffed out her chest proudly as she spoke.
"They're completely different areas of expertise; there's no point comparing them," Nolan said with a helpless glance at Paimon.
Seriously, if I really let loose with my eating, could you, this tiny Pokémon, even compete with me?
"Ugh! What's with that look?! Am I not speaking the truth?" Paimon said, crossing her arms angrily.
"Haha!" Yoimiya couldn't help but laugh as she watched the two bicker.
Lumine, standing quietly to the side, sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose as she looked at the two of them arguing again for no apparent reason. Especially Nolanare you a child? Can't you act a little more mature?
Still, she glanced at him briefly and let out a small sigh of relief. It's good that he's safe and sound. I was so worried earlier.
Based on her understanding of Nolan, this idiot had likely taken that strike partly to show off in front of the girls. Honestly, he's so unreliable!
Next time, I'll expose his outwardly serious but secretly flirtatious behavior in front of everyone. Let's see if he can keep deceiving other girls then. Hmph!
As Nolan walked down the street, casually chatting with Yoimiya about his experience stopping the "Musou no Hitotachi," he suddenly felt a chill down his spine.
Huh? He glanced around warily. Could it be that the Raiden Shogun has taken an interest in me?
"Raiden Shogun told you to meet her at Tenshukaku in a few days. Are you really going to go?"
Lumine, watching him chat so happily with Yoimiya, felt a twinge of jealousy. She kept her expression calm as she gave his waist a firm pinch and then casually took his hand while asking.
Nolan turned slightly to look at Lumine. He chuckled softly, tightening his grip on her soft hand, and replied:
"Don't worry. The Raiden Shogun isn't likely to forgive me one day, only to call me over a few days later to backstab me. That would damage her image too much."
"True. Let's go together when the time comes," Lumine said with a slight nod. "It's a good opportunity to bring up the Vision Hunt Decree on behalf of Kokomi and the others."
"Agreed," Nolan replied, signaling he had no objections.
After all, one of their reasons for coming to Inazuma in the first place was to meet with the Raiden Shogun. However, their focus was no longer on asking about the god who had taken Lumine's brother.
By now, they had mostly figured out that the god wasn't one of the Seven Archons but rather an entity known as the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles.
Their journey to meet the Seven Archons was now more about learning and growing, accumulating experience across the seven nations, uncovering hidden truths, and—most importantly—becoming stronger.
"You two have such a great relationship. By the way, what does being in love feel like? Is it anything like the feeling you get when you see fireworks bloom in the sky?" Yoimiya asked curiously. She had always noticed how close the two were, so it was no surprise to her that they were a couple.
The question caught Lumine off guard. Falling in love with Nolan had been so natural—something that had gradually developed through their long time together.
The feeling was… difficult to describe.
