Nolan arrived with Noelle and Bennett.

Behind the counter stood Katheryne, dressed in her usual green-and-white outfit, handling commission logistics for adventurers as always.

She still had that same gentle demeanor.

They waited for the adventurer in front of them to finish and leave before stepping up.

"Well, if it isn't the famous legendary adventurer himself. What brings you back to my counter today?"

Katheryne teased with a playful smile.

"Miss Katheryne, please don't joke with me. No matter how great an adventurer becomes, they still need to come here to pick up commissions,"

Nolan replied, scratching his cheek a little awkwardly.

"Hehe, so what kind of commission are you looking to take on today?"

Katheryne asked with a soft chuckle.

Nolan paused to think before replying.

"As for merchant escorts, there are some, but they're mostly scheduled for tomorrow or the day after. Today's slots are either already departed or already taken by other adventuring parties,"

Katheryne explained with a small shake of her head.

Nolan wasn't dead set on a specific mission—he just figured he might as well earn a bit of commission money while out and about.

If that wasn't possible, clearing out monsters would work too.

They could then head into the wild and see if they bumped into any Treasure Hoarders. With Bennett's notorious bad luck, there was a decent chance of running into trouble anyway.

Even if it wasn't Treasure Hoarders, gaining some Adventure EXP from monster hunting wouldn't be bad either.

As for the plan to gather and summarize the behavioral traits of evildoers to give Noelle a reference for identifying those who hide their true intentions—that didn't need to be rushed. There was still half a month left.

And besides, Treasure Hoarders didn't have to be the reference point. There were plenty of morally questionable people in town too.

Bennett exclaimed excitedly.

Katheryne turned to retrieve the commission slip and handed it to Nolan. "All set!"

Nolan accepted the commission politely and gave it a quick glance to review the contents.

The client turned out to be the Adventurers' Guild, and the commission reward was a full ten million Mora—definitely a high-tier mission by adventurer standards.

That likely meant the Eye of the Storm wasn't going to be weak.

After taking on the commission, Nolan, Noelle, and Bennett prepared to head toward Musk Reef.

As they exited the city gates and walked across the bridge, Noelle looked out over the glassy surface of Cider Lake. After thinking for a moment, she asked:

"Musk Reef is out at sea—are we going to rent a boat?"

Mondstadt was quite a distance from Musk Reef. Even setting off from Windrise Beach, it would still take at least a day or two to get there.

"Wait, wouldn't renting a boat for one or two days cost a ton of Mora?" Bennett didn't even need to think to know that wouldn't be cheap.

Nolan shook his head. "No need to go through all that trouble. We'll fly there."

As he spoke, he gathered Anemo energy around them. A breeze of emerald wind began to swirl. The next moment, he spread his Wind Glider wings, and the green whirlwind lifted him into the sky.

"Using Anemo to assist with flight, huh? That really saves a lot of Mora on boat rentals—so convenient!"

Bennett was fully onboard with the plan. He quickly spread his own Wind Glider wings and, with the help of the wind, effortlessly took to the air.

Soon after, Noelle did the same. Guided by the wind, she slowly rose into the sky, her skirt fluttering gently, armored boots swinging lightly as she hovered.

Within seconds, they vanished from their starting point, entering Windrise's territory. The grassy plains below rushed past like a river of green.

Before long, they flew out of Windrise and reached the borders of Windrise Beach. In the distance, the blue expanse of the ocean came into view.

"Wow! This is the fastest I've ever flown!" Bennett exclaimed in amazement.

If he had this kind of speed all the time, he could probably take on a commission in the morning and still be back in time to cook lunch for the old guys.

Nolan chuckled as he used Anemo energy to block the intense air pressure from their rapid flight.

He was referring to Liyue's ongoing development of elemental steam-powered vehicles. The tech was nearly ready, and once mass-produced, it'd only be a matter of time before it hit Mondstadt.

As long as they reached speeds of 100 km/h, it'd be more than enough for all kinds of everyday use.

"Really?"

Bennett hadn't even finished his sentence when a white bird-like monster came diving straight at them. His bad luck had clearly kicked in again.

"Danger!"

Noelle also noticed the incoming white avian beast. With a cry of alarm, she instinctively activated her Breastplate.

She wasn't strong enough yet to use it on others, though.

So she quickly drew her Favonius Greatsword and moved in front of Nolan and Bennett, ready to take the impact from the creature head-on.

Nolan quickly checked the monster's level—around level 50, stronger than both Bennett and Noelle.

If she tried to take the hit directly, she might get hurt.

With that in mind, Nolan didn't hesitate.

Still mid-flight, he didn't even move—just released an invisible wave of mental force.

The bird-like monster suddenly jerked midair, dazed. Its vision went blank, and the fierce glint in its hawk-like eyes rolled white.

Its wings stopped flapping, and it plummeted toward the forest below like a crashed aircraft.

Nolan then manipulated the wind to bring everyone to a slow stop, cleanly avoiding the falling bird's path.

At that moment, a system prompt appeared on Nolan's quest panel:

Seeing the monster drop like a stone, Noelle realized it had been Nolan who acted.

Nolan reassured him.

Noelle looked below, eyes fixed on where the bird had fallen.

Nolan and Bennett followed Noelle's gaze and saw that the white avian monster had crashed into a tree as thick as a pair of legs put together.

But something strange was happening—its back began to ripple, almost like waves, and slowly bulged outward.
