Chapter 32: Chapter 32
Keqing looked at the broken light bulb, stunned.
"It broke?"
"Did this... fail?"
She was puzzled.
Takumi shook his head.
"Not at all."
"It met my expectations."
"It may not seem bright during the day, but at night, it will be more than enough."
"Well, the color of the light bulb should be adjusted later."
"We just need to apply some coating, and it'll be fine."
It was enough, but Keqing had simply used too much power.
Hearing this, Keqing hesitated.
"Is that so?"
"I don't really understand this, but if you say it's fine, then I'll trust you."
"Are these lights going to be used throughout the city in the future?"
"What do I need to prepare?"
Since Takumi said there was no problem, she trusted his judgment. Instead, she focused on other matters.
Takumi shook his head.
"There's nothing to prepare for now."
"We need to wait until other parts of the city are completed."
"The power supply system isn't ready yet."
"There's still a lot of work to do."
"Lighting will take a long time to finalize."
"We also need to find a suitable place for power generation."
"With so many Electro Slimes, there could be safety concerns."
"Not only that, but a hydroelectric power station will need to be built as well."
Takumi stroked his chin thoughtfully.
Construction alone would take a significant amount of time.
The new city had many buildings already, but it was still far from Takumi's vision.
Only about one-tenth of the project was completed so far.
A commercial district had been built, and the docks were under construction.
The taller buildings would take even longer to complete.
"We need more manpower."
"Go to Liyue Harbor and request additional workers."
"The city needs to be built first."
"Also, the capture of Slimes must continue."
"If we manage to develop functional vehicles, it will save a lot of labor."
"But that will take time."
The biggest bottleneck in the construction process was transportation.
Construction itself was progressing steadily, but material transportation was too slow.
Currently, raw materials were transported via horse-drawn carriages, which was inefficient.
Takumi was already thinking about when the alchemy-based vehicles would be ready.
Once they were operational, transportation would be vastly improved, speeding up construction.
Keqing understood the issue.
Material transportation was the main limiting factor.
Despite the roads being built, the daily supply of cement and bricks was insufficient.
Some workers had started quarrying stone for the piers.
She sighed but didn't dwell on it too much.
After finalizing the light bulb's viability, Takumi moved forward with implementation.
Everything had been planned in advance.
All that remained was for Albedo to finish developing the Teyvat version of a transformer and energy storage device.
Once that was done, Takumi could start laying down the wiring for the city.
With that in mind, Takumi visited the factory producing the wires.
He began instructing workers on how to manufacture high-voltage cables.
Then a thought struck him.
If high-voltage cables were installed, would those who use Wind Gliders accidentally get electrocuted?
He mentally noted that a no-fly zone might need to be enforced in the future.
Additionally, power plants would need to be built in the mountains.
Liyue had no shortage of mountains.
As for the Adepti who lived there?
They could serve as natural protectors of the area.
It would be a little inconvenient, but ultimately, not a major issue.
Perhaps he could even invite a certain chatty individual with excellent mechanical skills to assist in the project.
With that in mind, Takumi finalized his plans.
After spending time at the factory, he only left when the sun had already set.
That evening, after dining with Klee and Keqing, Takumi made his way to the top of Wangshu Inn.
"Xiao!"
Takumi called out.
Within moments, Xiao appeared before him.
"What do you need?"
Xiao looked at Takumi, confused.
Usually, Takumi wouldn't seek him out directly.
What had happened?
Takumi explained his request.
"Tomorrow, I need you to take a trip."
"Please invite Cloud Retainer to come here."
"There are some matters I need to discuss with her."
Hearing this, Xiao was momentarily taken aback.
Cloud Retainer?
Remembering the instructions from Zhongli, Xiao quickly nodded.
"I'll bring her here tomorrow."
"If that's all, I'll be on my way."
With that, he vanished.
Takumi shook his head in amusement.
He didn't think too much about it and returned to his room to rest.
The next morning, however, Cloud Retainer had already arrived at Wangshu Inn.
Takumi was having breakfast with Klee on the balcony when he noticed a large crane soaring through the sky.
Klee's eyes lit up.
"Brother Takumi, look! That bird is so big!"
Something about her words felt off.
Cloud Retainer, however, was not amused.
"How rude!"
"You are the bird!"
"I am Cloud Retainer, one of Liyue's Adepti!"
She glared at Klee before turning to Takumi.
"You are the one chosen by the Geo Archon?"
Her sharp eyes studied him.
"You do appear competent."
"Tell me, what business do you have with me?"
She wasted no time, getting straight to the point.
The Adepti were aware that Zhongli had assigned Takumi to transform Liyue.
Furthermore, they had been told to assist him if necessary.
"Ah, the big bird talks!"
Klee exclaimed in wonder.
She immediately hid behind Takumi but peeked out curiously at Cloud Retainer.
Cloud Retainer's expression darkened.
Yet, for some reason, seeing Klee reminded her of someone equally mischievous.
She sighed internally.
Better not to take offense.
Takumi chuckled and patted Klee's head.
He then turned to Cloud Retainer with a polite smile.
"Honored Adeptus, welcome."
"Please, join us for breakfast."
"Klee, could you go ask the innkeeper to prepare more food?"
"I have important matters to discuss with Cloud Retainer."
Hearing this, Klee nodded enthusiastically.
She slung on her small backpack and ran off to fetch more food.
Cloud Retainer, seeing the hospitality, did not refuse.
She walked forward and took a seat, ready to listen.
