Chapter 439: Chapter 439
Ei and Takumi left Beidou's cargo ship. No one knew they had been there. The only one who knew had already been turned into a pile of parts.
The two returned to their respective tasks. Lumine began modifying the core of the Wanderer, just as Takumi suggested, removing all unnecessary data. No, there was no need to delete anything—Takumi had already completely destroyed the Wanderer's consciousness when he acted.
In other words, aside from some core data, there was nothing left.
This situation could truly be called sending him off thousands of miles away.
Takumi looked at the Gnosis in his hand. After thinking for a while, he decided to find Zhongli, who was drinking tea as usual.
Seeing Takumi approach, Zhongli was slightly puzzled.
"Old man, can you contact the Tsaritsa?" Takumi asked. "I want to make a deal with her. Tell her to lend me her Gnosis, and I'll give her this one."
Saying this, Takumi took out the Gnosis he had taken from the Wanderer.
Seeing the Gnosis, Zhongli thought of what he had sensed earlier. A look of surprise flashed in his eyes, but he remained silent. Instead, he simply nodded.
"I'll help you contact her. She should be very interested."
Zhongli did not refuse, as he understood well how much a Gnosis could enhance Takumi's strength.
Takumi was already immensely powerful—so much so that even Celestia dared not provoke him. But it was clear Takumi was still not satisfied with his strength.
So, Zhongli didn't mind helping him.
After concluding their conversation, Takumi left two boxes of mooncakes.
"These are a specialty from my hometown. Try them. I'll be going now."
With that, Takumi blinked, then swiftly disappeared from sight.
Everything had been said and done. Now, he just had to wait.
Looking at the mooncakes left by Takumi, both Zhongli and Guizhong were curious.
"A specialty from his hometown..."
Was Takumi feeling homesick?
With that thought, Zhongli opened the box. Inside were beautifully crafted mooncakes, with intricate designs and two characters engraved on them.
Was that the name of Takumi's homeland?
Picking up a mooncake, Zhongli took a bite. It was dense and flavorful—quite filling.
"Mine seems different from yours," Guizhong observed. She looked at her mooncake—it had lotus paste and an egg yolk.
She took a bite. "Delicious! I love it."
Then, she glanced at Zhongli's mooncake. After a moment of thought, she broke off a piece and handed it to him for a trade.
Seeing this, Zhongli simply stuffed the whole thing into his mouth.
Guizhong rolled her eyes. "Hey, I just wanted a taste! Why don't you understand?"
She broke off a piece from Zhongli's mooncake and took a bite.
"Not as good as mine!" she declared.
Zhongli raised an eyebrow and tried the lotus paste mooncake Guizhong had given him.
"From an objective perspective, mine has a richer taste," he stated. "Yours is too simple."
"Nonsense! Mine is obviously better! It's called lotus seed paste, right? Your five-nut mooncake tastes weird."
And so, the two of them bickered over mooncakes.
If Takumi knew about this, he would probably introduce them to another food debate—sweet tofu vs. salty tofu, or sweet rice dumplings vs. savory ones. Then he could watch as a new culinary war broke out in Liyue.
Regardless of the argument, Zhongli personally thought the five-nut mooncake was delicious. It had a complex and satisfying flavor. The lotus paste one wasn't bad, but it was too sweet for his taste.
He didn't plan to keep arguing about it.
Seeing Guizhong's slightly annoyed expression, Zhongli let it slide. She would forget about it soon enough.
Being the straightforward and pragmatic man he was, Zhongli closed his eyes and focused his energy.
A powerful force surged outward.
In an instant, this power spanned thousands of miles and reached the frozen land of Snezhnaya.
Inside the Snow Palace, the Tsaritsa slowly opened her eyes, surprised to receive a message from Morax.
After contemplating for a moment, she spoke calmly:
"Ajax."
"Take this and head to Liyue. Find the one called Takumi and give this to him. In return, retrieve Ei's Gnosis."
Her Gnosis floated down gently.
The assembled Fatui agents were startled by the sudden command.
But Childe was the most alarmed.
"No, Your Majesty! I'm still wanted in Liyue! Are you sending me to my death?"
Good grief, was she deliberately putting him in a difficult position?
A few agents chuckled at his predicament.
"Your Majesty, what's going on?" Pantalone, the Regrator, asked. "Why send him?"
"Ei's Gnosis is now in the hands of Takumi," the Tsaritsa explained. "He proposed a trade—my Gnosis for Ei's. Ajax, you will handle the exchange."
"Don't worry about being wanted. Just be careful."
Childe's eye twitched.
This organization was going to be the end of him.
Could he retire already?
Liyue was a nightmare for him. First, Morax faked his own death and made him take the blame. Now, all of Liyue was out to get him.
If he showed his face there, he was certain he'd get beaten up.
But a direct order from the Tsaritsa couldn't be refused.
With no choice, Childe begrudgingly accepted the mission, though his scalp tingled at the thought.
His injuries had only just healed.
Hopefully, he wouldn't end up with more.
As he took the Tsaritsa's Gnosis, he turned to Pantalone.
"Hey, old man, lend me some money."
"I don't need much. Just a billion Mora."
Pantalone raised an eyebrow, then a question mark seemed to materialize over his head.
"Are you joking?"
Northland Bank's recent profits hadn't been great, and now Childe wanted a billion Mora?
"How about I give you ten bucks instead?"
Pantalone smiled, though there was an obvious sharpness in his tone.
Childe shrugged. "What if I don't come back? I need some money to settle down. If I die, my little brother will be all alone."
As soon as he said that, Arlecchino spoke up in a deadpan voice.
"I'll take care of your brother. If you die, I'll put him in an orphanage. Let him grow up and avenge you."
Childe almost exploded. "Get lost! My brother doesn't need to go to your orphanage!"
Seriously, what kind of plan was that?
At that moment, the Tsaritsa spoke again.
"Give him the money."
It was true that going to Liyue was dangerous for Childe. There was a real possibility of him being attacked by someone who didn't know the full story.
With the command given, Pantalone sighed and prepared the funds.
Childe could only grit his teeth and prepare for the worst.
Liyue was about to get very interesting.
