Chapter 472: Genshin Impact's Incense Burner Of Liyue [472]
Gu Sanqiu tidied himself up briefly, then decided to grab a couple of apples to stave off his hunger.
"Hmm? Is it just me, or are there fewer apples now?"
His expression froze for a moment, as if he'd realized something.
No, they're not missing. Definitely not.
With a long sigh, Gu Sanqiu turned back into his room and flopped onto the bed, resuming his nap.
House arrest? He smirked inwardly. If I sleep long enough, ten days will pass in no time. It'll be like it never happened.
"Genius."

Buyu Raimei burst into the office excitedly, flinging the door open.
"Hey! Did you hear? Sanqiu's earned the title 'West Wind Saint' in Mondstadt! That guy's something else!"
Xingqiu, seated at his desk, looked up with mild exasperation.
"Lord Qinghu, are you seriously telling me this now? You do realize the Ten Pull Guild specializes in information, right? How are you—an insider—only just finding out?"
Buyu Raimei blinked in confusion. "Wait, everyone else knew already?"
"Well, Sanqiu really is impressive, managing to get such an esteemed title even in Mondstadt. I should visit that place sometime—it must be interesting!"
"This isn't about 'interesting.'"
Xingqiu propped his chin on one hand, casually marking files with checks and crosses using the other. This kind of paperwork required no deep thought, and he handled it with ease.
"That guy spends his days wandering around, leaving us to expand his influence and earn Mora in his name. Don't you think that's a bit much?"
"I don't know; I kind of admire it."
Buyu Raimei grabbed a chair and sat down casually.
"Traveling, enjoying Liyue's scenery, battling a few beasts, picking fruits for a picnic—it sounds great! Sometimes Kazuha even improvises a poem or two. It's honestly pretty fun."
"So that's how you see it."
Xingqiu set his pen down. "Fair enough. If I had a stable job in Inazuma like you, I'd probably spend my free time exploring too."
"But that's not where I'm at!" Xingqiu suddenly shouted, voice brimming with indignation.
"That idiot hasn't shown his face here in ages. The faction that originally operated under my family's name is now my full responsibility, while Sanqiu just gallivants around playing the carefree boss!"
Buyu Raimei chuckled. "Ah, come on. He trusts your competence. If it were someone else, he probably wouldn't feel as secure leaving things in their hands."
Xingqiu sighed deeply, fixing Buyu Raimei with a tired stare.
"Yuminglei, I'm a local, and even I haven't fallen for ideas like 'work is a blessing,' 'overtime is a virtue,' and 'stress is a sign of importance.' Why have you, an outsider, bought into this nonsense?"
"Wait—those aren't normal thoughts for working professionals?" Buyu Raimei looked genuinely shocked. "I thought everyone in Liyue was just that dedicated!"
"Well, you're not entirely wrong," Xingqiu shrugged. "But those ideas aren't our natural mindset—they're what certain people want you to believe. That way, they can rake in more profits, upgrade to fancier carriages every year, and live even more extravagantly."
Buyu Raimei stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Your family runs one of the top merchant guilds, right? Do they operate like that too?"
"Hardly. If they did, Sanqiu would've happily handed the entire guild over to the state treasury by now." Xingqiu laughed.
"At our level, we're building castles brick by brick. Of course, there are rules and incentives, but we don't push things too far. Mistakes are addressed constructively—there's no need to berate someone into oblivion."
He took a sip of tea. "We even have childcare services for employees. If someone's too busy, they can leave their kids in the guild's care. It helps with convenience and creates jobs at the same time."
Xingqiu's tone grew serious. "One thing's for sure, though: no matter what, you can't run a guild with slave-driving tactics. That's a dead end."
Buyu Raimei blinked in bewilderment. "Uh, I came here to tell you Sanqiu got the title of West Wind Saint, not to hear a lecture on guild management."
"Was it complicated? I thought you'd pick it up quickly—you're a smart guy, Yuminglei."
Xingqiu pulled a file from the stack and handed it over.
"I've known about Sanqiu's new title for a while. And so have plenty of others who shouldn't know but want to know."
"What does that mean?"
"Oh, it's simple. They're hoping to use the excuse of celebrating to cozy up to him and see if they can gain favors or connections."
Xingqiu crossed his legs.
"They buy information from various sources, hoping to stay ahead of the curve and look like they're riding the wave of the times. But most of the intel they gather is completely useless."
Buyu Raimei grinned. "So Sanqiu's avoiding them?"
"Avoiding them? That lunatic's more likely to toss them all into Yunlai Sea if they annoy him. Or he'll ignore them completely. If someone sends him gifts, he just sells them off, records the proceeds, and donates everything to orphanages or poverty relief."
Xingqiu yawned, visibly tired from the morning's mountain of paperwork.
"Not that it matters much—most of that ends up on my plate anyway. Feiyun Commerce Guild has plenty of channels to handle it. If I'm guessing right, Sanqiu's probably sleeping right now."
"Sleeping?"
"Yep. The whole West Wind Saint thing in Mondstadt wasn't simple. From what I've heard, he earned that title with his own two hands. If you think he's avoiding people just to keep things peaceful, you wouldn't be wrong."
Xingqiu's expression turned peculiar.
"He's probably holed up in some corner of the Jade Chamber, napping. Even if he fell, he'd survive without a scratch."
"Sanqiu may act all proper, but trust me—he's a closet eccentric."
Buyu Raimei raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
"Last time I saw him, he showed up at my house in a baby Geovishap-themed pajama set. He even came for dinner."
"If I hadn't recognized his voice, Chongyun and I might've attacked him. We thought a Geovishap had somehow infiltrated Liyue Harbor."
"…Wait, what?"
Given Liyue's thriving economy, the market for quirky products naturally flourished.
Buyu Raimei looked dumbfounded. "Are you talking about… uh, lingerie?"
Remembering Sanqiu's dramatic shouting during a past battle with the Shogun, Buyu Raimei felt his perception of his friend shift dramatically.
"Sanqiu, you sly dog! I never thought you were into that kind of thing!"
"What are you even imagining?!"
"And who makes lingerie styled after baby Geovishaps? Do these merchants have too much Mora on their hands?"
Xingqiu broke into a cold sweat.
"Don't even joke about telling him that! He'd throw me into Yunlai Sea in an instant! He just wears weird stuff without any sense of shame, that's all!"
"…So, that's your idea of eccentric?"
"Isn't it?!"
