Chapter 628: The Prisoner
The atmosphere in the Royal Palace was intense. The ministers were gathered for their usual meeting, and everything was going fine until the emperor got a message from one of the captain guards under his command.
The moment he heard the message from the man through a massage talisman, the ministers could feel the restlessness of the Emperor, and it was a known fact that when an Emperor is agitated, someone is bound to suffer.
But then they saw him receive another message, but they could not get the name of the sender out of him, but it did not take them long to realize who was so important for their majesty to treat in such a way.
Nuo Yan.
Honestly, the ministers had conflicting opinions about this man. On one hand, they worried that the man would take advantage of the emperor in the name of their friendship. They did not want their empire to suffer the slightest bit of losses.
But they also had to admit that the man had some abilities. To be able to infiltrate the royal estate without anyone noticing, such a person was incredibly dangerous. If it cannot be used, such a person should be treated with caution and never be offended.
"You are here, Nuo Yan."
Seeing how the Emperor greeted the man like he was in need of his help made them even more curious about what was about to happen.
"Intruders?"
"From other empires?"
When they heard the reason, they were shocked but still managed to stay composed.
"More spies? Don't they get tired of their failed attempts?" One of the ministers sneered under his breath but did not dare to say it out loud.
But the discussion turned even more chaotic when the woman revealed that the captive was not even from the same continent as them.
"Another continent? Is that even possible?"
"Isn't the Red Fire Continent the only continent there is? Could it be that the infiltrator is from the Abyssal Sea?"
"How could it be? The sea is home to some of the most dangerous and unknown creatures. Even human powerhouses would have trouble fighting in their home location. Why would they come on land on their own accord?"
Just when the conversations grew louder and more heated, Wuhan had enough of it and spoke, "SILENCE."
His heavy voice shook the air itself, slamming against the walls at the far end of the throne room.
Everyone turned silent; they adjusted their postures and stood before the emperor with their heads down. Seeing their obedient stance, Wuhan nodded and leaned back on his throne.
"What are your orders, your majesty?" The oldest and the wisest-looking of the ministers stepped forward and asked politely, trying to test the waters with his careful approach.
Wuhan closed his eyes and hummed, "All the ministers are to retreat."
His order shocked the ministers; they raised their heads, trying to say something, but seeing the cold look in the eyes of the emperor, they all swallowed their words.
"We obey!" They all bowed in unison and left the room one after the other.
No matter how dissatisfied they were, Wuhan was their emperor, and they had to follow his orders.
After everyone was gone, the only ones left in the room were Wuhan and the prime minister, along with Noah and some guards.
"Where is this prisoner?" Noah turned to look at Wuhan and asked curiously.
"She is being brought here from where we found Captain Black's sword as we speak." He replied, gazing out at the throne room from the open gates at the end of the room. "He told me that he had to tape her mouth and bind her limbs because she was being a loudmouth."
"I never thought that Captain Black Sword would go so far just for vacation." From the side, the prime minister muttered softly while the culprit escaped, making eye contact with anyone.
Wuhan seemed to have noticed this and narrowed his eyes. But just as he opened his mouth to say something, he turned his attention back to the gates.
Woosh!
A strong gust of wind entered the hall through the opening, blowing the candles out and fluttering the curtains.
"Mmm!" Noah turned his attention towards the man with a sleepy face appearing before them out of nowhere.
His attention immediately went towards the person he had slung on his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
He looked around the room with a blank stare until his eyes landed on Noah; for a moment, a brief gratitude and glint of frustration flashed through his eyes.
But it vanished as soon as it came, and he turned to look at the emperor. Ignoring the struggling attempts of the woman to escape, the lazy captain threw the woman on the floor without any reservations.
"From now on she is your responsibility. I have done my duty, and I want to spend the remaining days of my holidays in peace."
He bowed to Wuhan with respect and turned around to leave the room without even waiting for a reply, too worried that he might be implicated in something troublesome again.
"The audacity of this captain." Shi Tzu grumbled at his disrespectful action, "Your Majesty, you cannot let him act so brazenly in your presence."
Wuhan ignored the strings of curses the prime minister threw at the captain and focused on Noah, who had been blankly staring at the woman now lying on the floor.
Her hands and feet were tied by strong rope while her mouth was gagged by a lump of cloth.
The woman stared back at Wuhan, her eyes full of defiance and without any hint of fear.
She was wearing robes that reached her feet, tied by a thick belt. She was barefoot, and there were signs of injuries all over her body.
And most of all, she had pointed ears.
Wuhan turned to look at Noah once more and asked. "An Elf?"
Her distinctive feature matched what he had told him in the stories from his previous world.
The woman was confused when she heard the captain's words, but when the word 'Elf' left Wuhan's mouth, her eyes widened ever so slightly before her arrogance returned.
Noah nodded indifferently, watching each of her movements carefully.
