Getting spoiled in a woman dominating world

Chapter 169: The Japan's Dungeon [3]

Inside Booth Eleven of Aegis Firerange, the lights adjusted automatically as Eira stepped in with the Lazara Mk.II clutched delicately in her hand.

She wore a fitted shooting vest over her Academy uniform with sleeves rolled to her elbows.

She took a breath and looked ahead.

The booth lit up.

Five drones hummed around in the mid-range sector, gently swaying in the artificial wind simulated by the range's environment system.

"Okay…" she whispered to herself, bringing the pistol up.

Her fingers adjusted instinctively, remembering his touch and his words "Relax your shoulders... keep your thumbs aligned… don't strangle the grip."

She smiled faintly as she remembered Brandon's face.

Her smile faded into quiet focus as she squared her stance and rolled her shoulders back.

"Breathe in… aim… and exhale when you pull the trigger."

Bang.

The first drone jerked to the left mid-flight, but she had already accounted for the shift.

The shot clipped its central node, pinging a red spark.

Bang. Bang.

Two more shots followed targeting the moving drones.

A miss. A hit.

Three out of five.

She exhaled and lowered the pistol.

The screen above blinked:

Target Set: 5

Hits: 3 / Misses: 2

Avg. Impact Radius: 14.6 cm

Aptitude – Retain Form, Improve Tracking

Eira bit her lower lip slightly in frustration.

'Not as good as last time…'

She turned slightly and sat on the bench behind her, gently resting the pistol beside her on a padded surface.

Her fingers rubbed her temples as she closed her eyes and thought about her purpose of learning shooting.

'Why am I doing this...?'

'Because I don't want to be left behind.'

Her thoughts returned to Brandon and she remembered his words.

"You are scared of fighting Aberrants up close… so with this, you can kill them even from a distance and help me in battle."

Her breath trembled for a moment and she clenched her fists.

'I was always scared. When the Ruptures happened in the outer districts and people screamed about monsters. I was afraid I'd freeze up again.'

But now... she has a reason to fight.

She has someone to protect and someone she wanted to stand beside, not behind.

Eira stood up again and reached for the Lazara Mk.II.

Her grip was steadier this time as she focused.

She keyed the panel and selected a higher difficulty set.

"Start sequence. Set difficulty: B-tier simulation. Full drone acceleration."

The lights flickered and a new set of drones activated.

Eira smiled faintly "Let me get strong, Brandon. Let me be someone you can rely on, too. The next time you see me, bastard I want to give you a damn surprise and fuck you."

Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang.

The sound of gunfire echoed again in Booth Eleven.

---

Walking through the rubble of cars and pavement, Naevora glanced at Brandon "Stay close to me..."

Brandon nodded his head and glanced around in amazement.

Now they are on the A rank floor of the Dungeon for Yverine to practice.

He knows that he can't do anything, and he is just there to watch.

But still, he can get valuable insight from watching and can also see some strong aberrants.

Yverine casually walked ahead of them with her hands tucked in her jacket.

Her silver-haired ponytail swayed gently as the light glinted across her dark skin.

Naevora grabbed Brandon's head playfully and moved his moved, making him look at Yverine's shoes "Watch carefully."

What? Brandon was taken aback and looked at her shoes.

After she mentioned it, he saw it... tiny flares of translucent blue light blooming and vanishing beneath Yverine's boots mid-step, like she wasn't walking so much as gliding forward, her jacket swaying gently behind her.

She is like walking on air.

His gaze narrowed slightly 'It is hard for me to even create a disc and control it. But she is playing with that technique so casually.'

'Well she has been training for years. I should also learn to control my ether.'

Before he could speak, the air shifted.

"GRAARGHHHH!" A deep, echoing groan rolled through the ruins.

Brandon turned his head toward the sound.

From the gaping husk of a fallen skyscraper ahead, the darkness twisted and moved.

Ether surged in distorted pulses and a low chorus of rattling growls reverberated as several towering aberrants emerged.

Without hesitation, they all charged toward the,m and the ground trembled in shock.

Chunks of pavement flew into the air as their monstrous limbs dug into the earth, sprinting forward with terrifying speed.

Each one of them is nearly two stories tall.

Yverine exhaled, and she still hasn't pulled her hands from her jacket.

"Stay back," she muttered and then... she jumped.

CRACK!

Yverine launched herself into the air like a human cannonball and the cracked road beneath her imploded from the sheer recoil.

She soared above the monsters like an arc of silver and black against the sky.

Brandon looked at her 'She is using ether to enhance her physical abilities...'

From midair, Yverine twisted her legs and angled down like twin spears.

Then she dropped.

BOOOOM!

Her heels crashed onto the back of the first aberrant, and its entire upper spine collapsed inwards with a wet crunch and its skull exploded as its face was piledriven into the concrete.

A shockwave burst outward, making the cars flip and broken mirror rained down.

She bounced off its dead body in the next instant, another micro-platform lighting beneath her foot mid-jump.

CRACK-THUD!

She came down on the second aberrant with a diagonal axe-kick that landed full-force on its shoulder, shattering the arm into pulp, then driving her foot into its neck so hard that the beast's head ripped off sideways and embedded into the side of a bus.

Brandon was stunned to even speak 'Hoky shit.'

The third and fourth aberrant tried to flank her as they swung their massive arms to catch her.

Yverine spun midair, her foot catching the side of a falling signboard to redirect.

She kicked straight into the side of one's skull.

THWAM!

The head detonated, bursting like a watermelon and bone shards shot out like shrapnel ripping through the throat of the beast beside it.

Then—

BANG!

She landed on a ruined car and the hood crushed beneath her feet as she launched again.

This time she drop-kicked the fifth beast in the abdomen.

The aberrant was flung backward like it was nothing... smashing through two buildings in a row before its body crumpled in half.

Only one remained.

She leapt above the creature's head and then came down with a brutal double stomp that caved in its skull, pressing its entire body against the ground.

CRASH!

Dust and smoke burst outward in a ring.

Silence.

Six aberrants, all dead... in under ten seconds.

She looked down and her silver hair fluttered as a light breeze blew past.

"Done," she said flatly, turning back to face them.

Naevora gave a slow nod "Good warm-up."

Brandon could only stare, and with a smile, he muttered "That was good, Sister Yverine."

Yverine looked at him and gave a faint nod "Mhm."

-_- He stared at her blankly 'Atleast smile...'
