Byakuya immediately reported the auction incident to his superiors — namely, CCG Bureau Chief Yoshitoki.

"The Auction... huh… There have indeed been rumors about it. People disappearing, only for it to turn out that some ghouls were secretly selling them off."

Yoshitoki crossed his hands, resting his elbows on the desk as he spoke with a slightly heavy tone.

If they had concrete intel, the Washuu clan also wanted to eliminate certain "thorns in their side" involved in the Auction.

Many ghouls in the Auction were individuals of high standing in human society — like CEOs of major corporations who were secretly ghouls.

Some of them had no conflicts of interest with the Washuu clan and even cooperated with them, but others were a clear threat.

And while Yoshitoki was the heir of the Washuu clan, he did have a strong sense of justice to some extent. In his eyes, the existence of the auction was something that shouldn't be ignored.

"Can the CCG track down any upcoming auctions? These events have to be registered in advance, right?"

Byakuya asked.

"If we're talking about auctions throughout the year, there are way too many. We can't possibly monitor every single one."

Yoshitoki responded, "But if we focus on the near future, there's one coming up on November 11th, and then..."

He listed a few upcoming Auction dates that he recalled.

There were countless auctions, big and small, all over Japan.

"The one on November 11th is worth looking into."

Byakuya spoke calmly. "My gut tells me we'll find something important."

He clearly remembered the auction arc from the original storyline — especially the fact that it took place on November 11th.

So, he could almost confirm it immediately.

Yoshitoki was silent for a moment before speaking.

"…Alright, I trust your instincts. The auction on November 11th happens to be in your jurisdiction — 2nd Ward "

He recalled that Arima had once mentioned how Byakuya's instincts were eerily precise — or rather, extremely sharp.

"Then you'll be in charge of the 'Auction Operation'. These auctions usually host prominent figures from the ghoul world, and they'll likely have high-ranking ghouls as bodyguards. I'll have Investigators from other wards reinforce your team."

Yoshitoki instructed.

"Understood."

Byakuya nodded slightly.

There were only a few days left until November 11th.

That was enough time to organize personnel, formulate a battle plan, and — if necessary — write his will.

Even though Squad 0, consisting of him and Arima, was essentially unbeatable, the auction venue was massive, and there would be many ghouls present.

More importantly, their objective this time wasn't to exterminate a specific ghoul—it was to rescue the humans being sold as auction merchandise.

So, they needed sufficient manpower to carry out such a large-scale operation.

After returning home, Byakuya briefly explained the situation to Eto and Mayu.

"For the next few days, until November 11th, I'll be pretty busy."

He kept it simple.

"Another large-scale mission? You need this much preparation time?"

Eto asked casually.

"Yeah. We've discovered that certain high-class ghouls are secretly holding auctions to sell humans. We can't just sit back and let it happen."

Byakuya replied.

"Oh~ High-class ghouls, like Madams. and the like? I do know a few things about them, but I'm not exactly part of their circle."

Eto's tone carried a hint of amusement.

Coming from the 24th Ward, she had no standing or power in human society, making her completely different from those so-called high-class ghouls.

Especially since those ghouls spent their days indulging in pleasure —something she had no interest in associating with.

"Anyway, the plan is to infiltrate the auction and rescue the captives."

Byakuya summarized.

"Hmm, I'll stay home with Mayu, then."

Eto had no interest in this kind of upper-class entertainment. She'd rather stay home with Hinami.

The Day of the Auction

The CCG had already laid out a battle plan.

Squad 0 — Byakuya and Arima — would infiltrate the auction.

The other operatives were stationed in concealed locations around the venue, ready to storm in at any moment.

However, Byakuya and Arima's method of infiltration was unconventional — they allowed themselves to be captured by ghouls and taken to the auction as merchandise.

It was obvious that such a secretive auction wouldn't let just anyone enter. Not only did attendees need to be ghouls, but they likely needed special invitations.

If Byakuya and Arima tried to force their way in, they'd blow their cover immediately.

Eto helped with their plan.

Using her identity as the One-Eyed Owl, she reached out to one of the Madams within the elite ghoul circles.

This group was highly influential in the ghoul world. Whether it was underground businesses or exclusive Auctions, the Madams were always involved.

"I've got two top-tier merchandise that I'd like you to sell for me at tonight's auction since I don't have an invitation."

Eto was wrapped in white bandages, wearing a red cloak.

In front of her stood a woman wearing an elegant dress and a half-mask — one of the Madams.

"Oh? And what kind of merchandise are we talking about?"

The Madam asked with curiosity.

She had never interacted with the One-Eyed Owl before, but as someone classified as an SSS rated ghoul by the CCG, Eto was highly regarded in the ghoul world.

The fact that she was offering merchandise piqued the Madam's interest.

"Two CCG Investigators — one of them is an Associate Special Class, and the other... is a super handsome man. I guarantee the buyers will be very pleased~"

Eto's tone carried a hint of amusement.

She deliberately left out Byakuya's true rank as a Special Class Investigator.

Because if she mentioned that, it might make the Madam more cautious.

"Not bad. If they're as good as you say, they should fetch a high price."

The Madam was already getting excited.

"Since you're asking me to sell them for you, I'll be taking a five percent commission. How about it?"

"Deal"

Eto agreed without hesitation.
