Byakuya wasn't the least bit surprised.

"Let her in" he said to the investigator.

"Understood."

The investigator promptly left.

"Wait, Investigator Byakuya didn't deny it? Does this mean his wife is really here?"

"Is he seriously married? That can't be... I thought the rumors about that boy being his son were just jokes."

"Maybe he only looks young. Could he actually be in his late twenties or even thirties?"

"…"

The brief exchange had caused a small uproar among the investigators nearby.

At that moment, the Mado family—Kasuka, Kureo and their daughter Akira — arrived at the training grounds.

"Did we just walk in on some shocking news?" Kasuka said with a surprised smile.

The rumor that Byakuya had children had also reached the Kureo' ears.

Naturally, they didn't believe it. After all, they knew Byakuya was only eighteen, and the supposed "children" were said to be around ten years old.

They had also assumed he was single, so this supposed "marriage" was equally unexpected.

"Darling, it's about time to head home for dinner~" Eto said the moment she walked in, her tone coquettish and sweet.

The sight of Eto's petite figure and youthful face — despite her more mature attire — immediately stunned the investigators.

While her appearance today was deliberately styled to look older, her small stature and adorably youthful features made something feel... off.

Only Furuta and Rize remained blissfully oblivious to the situation.

"What's going on? Why are they all acting so weird?" Rize asked Furuta.

"No idea… but it looks like this pretty big sister is Byakuya's wife?" Furuta replied, amazed.

"A pretty big sister, huh... Do you think she's prettier than me?" Rize suddenly asked, her question like a verbal minefield.

Furuta froze for a moment, realizing the danger. Thankfully, he hadn't answered too quickly.

"Of course not! Rize is definitely prettier" he said decisively.

Rize smiled, clearly pleased with his response.

"Ahem..."

Byakuya cleared his throat, maintaining his composure despite the chaos. "Maybe tone it down a bit?" he said to Eto.

"What's this? Are you mad at me?" Eto asked, feigning concern.

"I'm not mad, but you've created quite a headache for me" Byakuya replied calmly.

"Alright, alright~" Eto relented, smiling mischievously.

Then, addressing the crowd, she said, "No need to worry. I'm actually of legal age."

Her clarification somewhat eased the tension.

"Oh! So that's how it is. You really gave us a scare!"

"Does that mean Investigator Byakuya and she are newlyweds? And that boy isn't Byakuya's son after all. You all need to stop spreading baseless rumors."

"Well, this might be bad news for some of the women here. Quite a few were interested in him..."

"..."

Eto's explanation dissolved some of the misunderstandings, though most still believed she was Byakuya's wife.

Some female investigators in the crowd were heartbroken, having harbored feelings for Byakuya.

Of course, Eto had no intention of fully clearing up the misunderstanding. Her prank wasn't just for fun; it also served to fend off any women who might pose a threat to her plans.

"Apologies for jumping to conclusions earlier" Kasuka said.

"Yes, sorry for the misunderstanding" added Kureo.

Even little Akira bowed and said, "I'm sorry"

"It's fine. Honestly, it's Eto's mischief that led to all this" Byakuya replied, waving it off.

"Mischief?"

The Mados looked puzzled, seeing no signs of mischief from Eto.

"Well, actually, she's just..." Byakuya began to explain.

But before he could finish, Eto pinched his side.

Byakuya reacted quickly, dodging her attempt, but Eto had already succeeded in cutting him off.

He looked at her, confused by her actions. Was she planning to maintain this charade of being his wife?

And why?

Eto gave him a subtle glare, silently signaling him to keep quiet.

She wasn't about to let this perfect opportunity go to waste.

Though he didn't understand her motives, Byakuya decided to play along.

"She's just fond of pranks. Today, she's deliberately dressed to look younger" he said smoothly, offering a logical explanation.

"Oh, I see! Congratulations. Wishing you both a happy union and many children!" Kasuka said cheerfully.
