Chapter 687: Tokens
Shane decided to work immediately as it would also help the current sick people who were probably affected by the Poison Fog outside.
As they gathered the tokens, Rylen glanced up. "What skill will you put in mine?"
Shane smiled. "That depends. What would you want?"
Rylen thought hard, then whispered, "Maybe… the one that helps others heal fast. Like the one you used on Aunt Loreen."
"Nano Restoration…" Shane nodded thoughtfully. "That one's a good choice."
"And me? I want something that can make me move faster!" Aria asked.
"You wanted to be the fastest kid here? Alright… I might give you the Veiled Step. Anyway, it will also keep you safe when you sneak around and find trouble."
Shane chuckled as he said this.
Since the kids worked hard to create these tokens, he didn't mind listening to their requests at all.
Aria also beamed at the idea.
Shane stood and looked around at the tokens and selected a Shield Token for Rylen while he selected a Shoe Token made of wood for Aria…
Shane cracked his knuckles and breathed in as he started to focus…

"Proceed…"
Just like that, a soft blue glow radiated from Shane's palm.
Soon, the small token's surface started filling with mysterious power that came from Shane's talent. It happened in just two or three seconds, so it was certainly quick...
"Ohh…"
"It's here…"
Rylen and Aria muttered as they watched Shane work.
Shane, on the other hand, confirmed from the system that he had already done his job.

"Whooaaa… This looks really good…" Rylen held the token in his hands and he could tell that it was indeed filled with power. It was no longer the cold and unremarkable item that was just lying around a while ago.
"It's… warm."
"It's considered a mystical item now…" Shane said gently. "And it'll keep you safe, no matter where you are."
Then, turning to Aria's token, he focused again.
[ Activating Talent: Skill Infuser (Epic) ]
[ You are about to infuse a selected item with one or more of your available Skills.

After proceeding with the system's process, another wave of energy entered the item. It was the same process as before.
[ Infusion Complete: Success ]

After confirming the success, Shane looked at the item description.
[ Windstep Token ]
[ A lightweight token carved into the shape of a boot, formed from ashwood and etched with gust-like patterns.
Infused Skill: Veiled Step
Effect:
Temporarily boosts movement speed by 40%, making the bearer feel lighter and nimbler.
Dampens sound and visual presence.
The bearer gains a slight burst of speed after crouching or hiding for more than 5 seconds.
Activation Cost: 5 Spirit Points per activation
Usage Limit: 60
Remarks: created by Shadow Strider ]
'The usage limit is a lot…' Shane gently nodded as he confirmed that infusing only one Survivor Skill costs less to activate and the Usage Limit was also higher.
Furthermore, he only used 15 and 10 Spirit Points respectively… After all, the skills he had no was higher level compared to before. It means that the effect should be higher as well.
It was quite cheap in his opinion.
Nonetheless, Aria wouldn't really be in combat and Shane could also tell that she was still hiding a few Protection Tokens with her. Considering that, he decided to just put a movement skill to the token.
"Amazing!" Aria squealed and hugged the token tight. "I'm gonna outrun everyone!"
Shane smiled… "Only if you keep it safe."
"I will keep it safe! I'm not going to trade my Tokens again. Hehe…" Aria said as she recalled how she really wanted to buy a few changes of clothes and decided to trade her some of her Tokens instead.
Since they weren't really using coins for trade, they would normally use Tokens, Food, Spirit Stones, and others as a currency. The only exception was some of the merchants from Neutral Shelters who accept gold coins.
Shane then turned serious.
With the personal tokens done, Shane stood and surveyed the rest of the tokens—rows and rows of small items carved or molded by countless hands.
Some were imperfect. Some were beautiful. But to him, they were all vessels for everyone's survival…
As the kids started playing around, Shane started on his work.
It was time to infuse more.
He chose a dozen tokens. They were small discs, sturdy stones, wooden items, and each one the size of a palm.
He wanted all the Clan Members to obtain protective tokens for use in the field.
He began selecting the two Skills that would form the foundation of all of them:
Aura Sentinel for regeneration and protective shielding.
Armored Dash for enhanced burst speed and damage resistance when escaping or charging.
The first token shimmered in his palm.
[ Activating Talent: Skill Infuser (Epic) ]
Selected Item: Clay Disc
Selected Skill: Aura Sentinel, Armored Dash ]
"Proceed…"
[ Infusion Initiated… ]
His breath slowed. Fingers tightened. Light flared from his palm in silver arcs, twining around the clay like celestial veins. His body tensed as Spirit drained from him like a tide going out—calculated and precise.
[ Infusion Complete: Success ]
Resulting Item Created: 1
He placed the finished token on a tray and moved on…
Again.
[ Activating Talent: Skill Infuser (Epic) ]
Selected Item: Stone Medallion
Selected Skill: Aura Sentinel, Armored Dash ]
Infusion Initiated…
Again, light surged.
And again:
[ Infusion Complete – Success ]
Time passed, and sweat already dripped down his temple.
Each one cost him 15 Spirit Points, and sometimes even lower of the Token was actually not that good.
Shane continued doing this for some time without any breaks. Since there were about 800 Tokens, he really had to spend hours just to finish this task.
Still, he didn't mind it at all since this was part of his task. While the others were busy repairing the shelter, he must also busy himself for them.
'One token at a time…' Shane said to himself as he slowly took care of the pile of tokens that the children and the others had made during their free time.
All the tokens made of clay, stone, and wood had slowly transformed into mystical items.
Though his Spirit Points dwindled, he endured… He had Spirit Recovery Pills, Spirit Stones, and other items that could replenish his Spirit Points after all.
After the 60th Token, Shane stopped for a moment to take a break.
More than 900 Spirit Points have been used so far, and this fast depletion has also created some problems with his breathing.
Shane exhaled as he felt that his muscles were sore and his shoulders were tense.
Still, one could notice a smile at the corner of his lips as he picked up one of the completed tokens:
[ Sentinel Dash Token ]
[ A medium-sized clay medallion engraved with the symbol of wings.
Infused Skills: Aura Sentinel, Armored Dash
Effect:
Activates a slow healing effect and grants 25 Vitality Points for 10 seconds.
Instantly propels the bearer forward, reducing damage taken by 30% during movement and impact.
After the dash, the bearer becomes highly resistant to stuns and slows for 5 seconds.
Activation Cost: 8 Spirit Points
Usage Limit: 40
Remarks: created by Shadow Strider ]
He gently laid the token down beside the others.
Only sixty pieces were done…
There was still a lot of work to do, but it was definitely a good start.
His gaze drifted to the rest of the token piles—over 700 still waiting.
Knowing that hundreds of survivors rely on them, he felt really compelled to work on it…
It would be used not just by warriors and scouts, but engineers, cooks, nurses, farmers—people who had no combat skills but would still face the world's cruelty.
Shane straightened his back as he rotated his stiff neck.
"Time for the next sets..."
He began sorting new tokens for custom infusions. Not everyone needed a barrier or dash—some needed stealth, insight, or just a second chance to escape. So, he planned the following item lines:
Scout Token: Veiled Step + Heightened Awareness
Defender Token: Aura Sentinel + Resilience Protocol
Medic Token: Nano Restoration + Meditation
Gatherer Token: Resource Handler + Quick Patch
Brawler Token: Brawler's Fury + Armament Expert
Escape Token: Armored Dash + Phantom Recall
