God Ash: Remnants of the fallen.

Chapter 733: Charybdis, The Dark Diver, and The Shadeworm Emperor (2).

The disgusting crunching and squelching noises coming from the Dark Diver's mouth made him feel a bit sick.

True the bond they shared, Cain was able to feel what the Abyssal Creature felt.

Bliss...

True, absolute bliss...

Cain couldn't help feel conflicted. Something about watching the {Dark Soul} spread its mouth open and devour the {Shadeworm Deviant} in such a gruesome manner was rather sickening.

A few crunches later, and the Dark Diver finally swallowed. From the looks of it, it was far from satisfied.

Following the feeling of bliss, was that of scalding hot greed. Cain was taken aback by it.

The [Body and Soul] contract allowed him to establish a rather deep bond with the creatures he made them with.

He could usually sense Ignis' emotional state when she allowed it, Ruby was easy to read, like an open book. Even Pudding occasionally had moments of intense emotional signalling.

However, the {Dark Soul} had always been... cold.

No, that was not the word he had in mind.

'Simple, is more like it.'

Indeed, the mind of the {Dark Soul} has been rather simple. That was why its emotions were also simple, rarely showing anything besides apathy and the occasional desire for darkness elemental mana shards.

It rarely showed emotions like panic. This was the first time he had sensed something like greed from the eldritch being of darkness.

The {Dark Soul} immediately dove into the shadows as well, swimming like a fish in water.

As it swam through the shadows, inky tendrils of darkness shot out of its body towards the many {Shadeworm Deviants}. Some tried to dive and swim away from the {Shadow World}, while the others sfough back viciously, their teeth biting and shredding the shadow tendrils apart.

However, it didn't seem to matter, as in the blink of an eye, the {Dark Soul} had already spread forth more than a thousand of those dark tendrils, most already clinging to the still struggling body of a {Shadeworm Deviant}.

Cain watched as the abominable, dog-sized, maggot-looking things were dragged into the giant glob of darkness the {Dark Soul} had come to be.

He couldn't help but shiver at this sight.

Jenny gave him a glance, her hand tightly gripping her weapon,

"Cain... Did you?"

Cain nodded with a frown, "Yeah, it's on our side. I hope..."

As the {Dark Soul} continued to gouge itself on the {Shadeworm Deviants}, the {Shadeworm Emperor} didn't seem pleased at all. It would have probably interfered if not for the fact that it had its own opponent standing before it.

Evangeline glanced at the terrifying nightmare of a thing.

Her beautiful pale face was expressionless, and her ruby-like eyes were like two dazzling drops of bright crimson blood in the darkness.

The {Shadeworm Emperor} was far more intelligent than its underlings. It had come to the Sky Bridge in hopes of ascending to the Godless Realm, and possibly even higher.

On its home world, it had established a colony of {Shadeworm Deviants} that was swiftly spreading through the continent. As a creature of the shadows, most beings lacked the means to even harm it.

As such, it had made quick progress, devouring enemies while and advancing its colony.

He also noticed that the Dark Diver had experienced a few changes.

That was why it had been surprised to see an anomalous bubble floating within the world of shadows.

Staring at the peculiar creature in front of it with such high affinity with the shadows, the {Shadeworm Emperor} could barely control the urge to tear into it immediately.

And so, that was what it did.

The world of shadows rumbled with tremors as the Shadeworm Emperor} bounded forward, swimming through the shadows like it was water.

After muttering her chant for a while, Evangeline was finally done.

Her eyes took on an even sharper glint.

"Come, Charybdis..."

There was silence...

A ripple spread out through the shadows beneath her feet and into every corner of the {Shadow World}.

The {Shadeworm Emperor} was forced to stop in itself tracks. Or rather, in the black waters that surrounded it.

Cain felt the ripples spread, and in the next second, the ground under his feet gave out and he lost his purchase. The same went for the other three girls as they dropped into the black waters underneath.

'Crap!' He was taken by surprise, and that surprise was amplified even more by the events of the next second.

The ground made of shadows had turned into a shadowy body of water.

The water rippled and surged like any normal body of water. However, it was suffused with shadows and was as black as night.

Quickly finding his balance in the dark waters, Cain couldn't help but feel something strange happening within the shadowy waters.

His fears were answered the next moment, as the dark waters began to froth.

Something was coming...

Something from the depths of this shadowy world.

Only Evangeline remained standing upon these dark waters. Her gaze was still fixed on the {Shadeworm Emperor}. And still, she said nothing.

Instead, she pointed a finger at the {Shadeworm Emperor}.

Then she whispered,

"Go."

BOOM!

An explosion of titanic magnitude shook the foundations of the {Shadow World} down to its core.

From the depths of the frothy dark waters, emerged an absolute behemoth of a creature.

Its eyes shone like two lighthouses out at sea, and just like the {Shadeworm Emperor}, it also seemed to be made of shadows.

It had a circular mouth with what seemed like hundreds of circles of teeth in itself mouth. Its neck was long and stretched on even beyond the surface of the dark waters.

Its eyes were at the sides of its long neck, and not on its face, as all of its face was just mouth and teeth..

And worse, the many black tentacles that rose from the darkness alongside it.

With a loud guttural roar signalled the beginning of their battle. {Charybdis} had originally been a spell that conjured up a large amount of water.

However, through constant improvement, she was able to link {Charybdis} to her {Shadow World}, turning it from a magic spell, to something eeriely close to a living being inhabiting the {Shadow World} all the time.

By combining the two elements of water and shadows, she also created the prime environment for fostering {Charybdis}.

Despite being caught for guard, the {Shadeworm Emperor} reacted fast and viciously attacked as well. Both were absolutely enormous creatures, so no one was going to have the size advantage.

It pounced on Charybdis with the desire to rip it to shreds.

In response, Charybdis wrapped its tentacles around it and pulled it further down into the black waters.

Meanwhile, Cain could barely comprehend what he was seeing. Charybdis was an abomination of shadows and water, its enormous, robust body filled with power and fleshy might despite not having any flesh whatsoever.

'No, that's not right either. Its flesh is the shadows, and its blood is the water'

It was a terrifying thought. Thankfully, while it didn't seem like it, it was a relief that the thing wasn't truly living. Instead, it was the manifestation of a skill.

Its mouth was a nightmarish vortex of teeth, layer upon layer of them spinning endlessly.

Its eyes, glowing like two lanterns in the dark fixed on the {Shadeworm Emperor} with a predatory gaze as its powerful jaws grabbed onto a portion of wormy fleshy.

Shadows burst out violently from the {Shadeworm Emperor} imitating spouting blood. The creature seemed to be in pain as it let out a startling screech.

With fury burning in its beady will-o-wisp eyes, the Emperor didn't hesitate. It bot down on Charybdis as well with a roar. Then its segmented body coiling like a spring waiting to unleash a devastating strike.

The black waters surged in the wake of the violent battle.

Charybdis responded in kind, its tentacles surging forward to meet the attack. The two titans collided with a deafening boom, the impact sending shockwaves through the dark waters.

Cain and the others were thrown back, struggling to stay afloat amidst the chaos.

"This is insane!" Roselle shouted, her voice barely audible over the din.

Jenny watched the battle with bated breath. Then, she pursed her lips,

"I never knew Eva was hiding something like this in here."

Then she turned to Cain,

"Did you?"

Cain smiled wryly, "I have only ever seen the spell once before. However, at the time, it looked nothing like this."

Jenny sighed then nodded,

"Either way, it doesn't matter... You, and her seem to have a lot of terrifying creatures hiding in your back pockets."

"That does seem like something they both share." Roselle said, her tone a bit glum.

Cain could only chuckle as couldn't argue with them. So instead, he continued to watch in awe and terror the battles between Charybdis and the {Shadeworm Emperor} as well as the Dark Diver and the rest of the {Shadeworm Deviants}.

The more impressive of the two, was the mad battle that shook the {Shadow World beyond its limits, their massive forms tearing through the world of swirling shadows like living natural disasters.

Evangeline stood unmoving, her eyes locked on the battle. She didn't speak, but Cain could sense her connection to Charybdis, her will guiding the creature's every move.

Despite being a rather powerful creature in its own right, the {Shadeworm Emperor} had made two fatal errors.

One was it had assumed it could defeat the creature that had created the {Shadow World}.

The second was deciding to enter into the {Shadow World} to fight.

Evangeline had complete control over the shadows within the {Shadow World}. Under her influence, the surrounding shadows suppressed the {Shadeworm Emperor} and continually amplified Charybdis' power.

There was nothing the invading terror could do. Very quickly, what has seemed to be a close fight ended. Enjoy new adventures from My Virtual Library Empire

Shadows spilled into the waters below.

There was a loud crash, and following that, waves rose up high towards the ceiling of the {Shadow World}.

Then, the Emperor fell, never to rise again...
