Chapter 928: For the Curtain Call, The End of the World as we Know It (19).
Shooting through the air in a golden streak, hundreds of magic circles unraveled around Cain's transformed form.
While in the {Devil Wyrm: Asura}inform, not only his physical traits were enhanced, his magical traits were also bumped up to the next level.
Combined with the recent bump to his magic stat, his mana pool might as well have been infinite. His mana regeneration was also off the charts as well.
If he wished, he could chuck out {Flame Orbs} for a month straight and he wouldn't even come close to expending half his reserves.
However, spells on the level of {Flame Orbs} were rather useless at this point, not because they were not useful, but simply because they lacked the required substance to break through what he could only describe as a field of death and chaos.
The moment the Magic Wheel has been turned another step, the world surrounding Abaloth for up to a fifty meter radius had turned in into a zone of spatial instability.
Both in the sky and on the ground, everything within this space, was torn apart. Somehow, even light and darkness wasn't spared.
The only thing that could exist, was the casting Devil itself.
Down below, countless deep grooves had been carved into the surface of the world, marring it forever and ever.
A few Humans and Devils that were unable to get out of point zero, which was the exact center of the Spatial instability, were torn into blood mist and scattered into the wind.
On the outer edge of this space surrounding the Devil, the number of wild spatial blades was lower, but not zero.
And to crown it off, this wss just the defensive spells.
His body tumbling in the air, Cain performed a series of wild maneuvers, dodging nearly invincible spatial blades that rained down at him from all directions.
The oscillating balls of flames around him shot out even as he dodged, exploding just meters away from him, creating a streak of lingering flames and smoke even as he raced through the sky.
'Even my offensive spells can only be used defensively.' He thought to himself bitterly as he twisted his body to dodge a spatial blade coming from behind.
His defensive spells were even more useless. {Nexus Tether} also didn't work within the {Void Tyrant Devil's} area of influence.
No matter how far he tried, he also couldn't use {Spatial Jump}.
This meant there would be no battle changing escapes or outplays like before.
He was like a bird tied to the ground now, only able to flap its wings.
However, that didn't mean he was completely without options.
Although the Spatial element was powerful, it was weak against certain elements.
Such as the elements of light, darkness, and lightning.
Then again, weak was a bit of an overstatement. It would be more accurate to say it was on the same level as these other elements, give or take.
While he didn't have any light attribute spells, thankfully, he was proficient in both lightning and darkness elemental spells.
'From what I can tell, that guy's body must be weaker than the average Devil's. If I can get a good hit in, there might be a shot I win this.'
It wasn't difficult to understand the nature of the Devil's attacks either since he was proficient in spatial spells as well.
He also had the {Beholder's Eye}, which had done a swell job in keeping him alive so far.
'But, will {Heavenly Blue Lightning} be enough to end it? If the damned thing notices me casting, it certainly will take measures to defend against it, or even counter.'
His brows trembled,
'Which means, I have to create a situation where the spell is either unavoidable and impossible to counter.'
He clicked his tongue in annoyance.
At this rate, forget driving the Devil to such a corner, he was the one trying his best to steer clear of one.
With the Blood Matriarch having been dragged off to another area, or perhaps even the Shadow World by Evangeline, he was left to contend with the Devil alone.
Soaring through the sky, he felt like a bird for a moment.
The swirling darkness within the eyes of Abaloth never left him though, regardless of how fast, or how far he soared.
He could feel the terrible gaze through his skin, making him feel both on edge and uneasy.
Still, he managed to keep a cool head as he dodged.
Meanwhile, he made sure to keep his eyes on the Magic Wheel.
Not his regular eyes, but the {Beholder's Eye}, of course.
The Magic Wheel was a strange magical phenomena birthed from a realization of arcane knowledge.
So it was a given that its behavior would create changes in the mana flow patterns before they even happened.
His eyes widened.
The Wheel suddenly turned by half a step.
His body tensed.
He felt that dark glare narrow in on him.
Abaloth stretched a claw finger,
"Bind."
Cain's face paled as he felt the space around him begin to compress like never before. Moving through it was like stepping through mire.
It gradually slowed him down.
Luckily, he had expected something like this to happen, which was why he was prepared.
Sucking in a deep breath, he muttered under his breath.
"Seal."
The binding of the space surrounding him shattered like broken glass.
Abaloth's eyes narrowed,
'That spell just now.'
In principle, no spell created by a Tier 2 creature should be able to unravel that casted by a Tier 3.
It simply boiled down to the principles of magic itself.
The spells he made use of, especially with the aid of the Magic Wheel, were made with Tier 3 runes, which when compared to Tier 2 runes were a completely different subject entirely.
It was not so much a physical or visual difference as it was just an inert characteristic of magic.
'That spell just now attacked the foundation of a single nexus of the spell, but in the process, it unraveled everything. Still, for a Tier 2 spell to do this is just...'
As the Devil mused silently, Cain, who was running for his lime with beads of the sweat pouring from his forehead sizzling and turning into steam, he noticed the briefest of lulls in the Devil's focus.
His eyes widened,
Had his chance come?!
