Goddess Development Plan

Chapter 76: Spacetime Traveling Merchant

"The mysterious merchant who walks through spacetime: The Spacetime Traveling Merchant is a trader who can freely conduct business across different worlds. They possess countless wondrous items, and as long as you can afford the price, you can obtain whatever you desire. (Note: Items not available for exchange through the system can be purchased via this route.)"

"They are the most mysterious group in all of spacetime. No one knows where they come from, and no one knows where they go. As long as you possess something they need, they will appear by your side of their own accord, doing everything possible to trade with you. If you do not have what they need, then no matter how hard you try to seek them out, no one has ever succeeded."

"They can be the fairest people, or the most cunning. They can be angels, or devils. They can be the kindest of souls, or the most malevolent. Everything depends on the hands of the one making the trade."

"Every Spacetime Traveling Merchant has their own unique inventory, some of which includes mysterious items with unfathomable secrets. But where these items come from, no one knows. And how to become one of them is something countless people who've encountered them have longed to understand."

"Unfortunately, no Spacetime Traveling Merchant has ever told anyone how to become such a mysterious trader. As a result, in the legends of many worlds, they are always shrouded in a veil of mystery."

"Everyone who has tried to obtain goods from them by means other than fair trade has died. No one knows the extent of their power. The only thing known is that whether it's the gods of the boundless heavens or the demons of the deepest abyss, none dare to provoke them."

"They have saved worlds, and they have destroyed worlds. They converse as equals with gods and trade fairly with demons. They are witnesses to dreamers, and guides to the mad. They will stop at nothing to obtain what they need, and they will lend a helping hand to those in the direst of straits—though always at a price."

"Everyone who has interacted with them describes them as intermediaries, world interveners, and the fairest merchants."

"They are born without being rejected by any world, and they freely travel across spacetime."

"They do not sigh for the death of life, nor rejoice at the birth of a world."

"They are simply a group of people who abide by the most primitive rules of fair trade—the ones who experience both the beginning and the end."

"Job Transfer Requirements: Experience with spacetime travel, possession of spatial abilities, access to a vast array of goods, and potential to rival the gods." (Requirements met)

"Quest: To become a successful Spacetime Traveling Merchant, you must travel to many places and buy and sell the items you acquire. Completion requirements: Travelled 24,753 / 50,000 kilometers, earned 578 / 10 million Huaxia yuan from selling goods, visited 88 / 100 cities, visited 1 / 8 countries, experienced one spacetime travel (completed)."

"Quest Rewards: World Affinity, Spacetime Shuttle, Fair Trade, Mysterious Shop, Beginner Merchant License for Spacetime Traveling Merchant."

When Chu Lian clicked on the job introduction, what had originally been a short description suddenly expanded into hundreds of words. It dazzled her eyes, and it took her quite a while to sort through it all. This was a class with no offensive capabilities—but boundless potential.

And among all the hidden professions currently available, it was the one most suited to her.

She had first noticed this profession largely because of the system explanation at the end of the description: (Note: Items not available for exchange through the system can be purchased via this route.) She had already realized over time that the system didn't allow access to all items. Many abilities either couldn't be exchanged or weren't even listed as exchangeable options.

For instance, the "T-Virus" from Resident Evil; the Burning Legion's method for creating the "Scourge" in Warcraft; the "Zerg Hive" from StarCraft; the "Xenomorph Queen" from Alien; the "Zombie" from Huaxia mythology; the "Vengeful Spirit" from Nihon, and other items or beings with ominous abilities—none of these were available for exchange.

In short, the system did not allow the host to obtain benefits through dark, corrupting means, or to achieve one's goals by destroying entire worlds.

There were also illogical things that couldn't be exchanged, such as the "Super Saiyan" or Buu bloodlines from Dragon Ball; the Prehistoric world of Huaxia legends; the ultimate technologies from The Three-Body Problem...

However, there were many things she would need when traveling certain worlds. Since the system couldn't provide them, then obtaining them through trades as a Spacetime Traveling Merchant was perfectly viable.

Most importantly, she already fulfilled all the job requirements listed.

"Experienced spacetime travel" — as a soul from another world, her very existence was proof enough.

"Possesses spatial abilities" — although her LV4 Teleport was currently sealed, the seal did not erase or eliminate the ability. It simply rendered it unusable. Therefore, during the evaluation, the system did not deny that she possessed spatial capabilities.

"Access to countless goods" — with the system at her disposal, even though she couldn't exchange for too many things yet, she fully met the condition of having access to an endless supply of items. In fact, among all Spacetime Traveling Merchants, she might be the one with the most potential.

After all, the system never stipulated that exchanged items must be used only by the host. Judging by certain indications, it even seemed to support her pursuit of this hidden profession. So there was no need to worry about not being able to trade the items she obtained.

On the contrary, with the system's backing, it shouldn't be hard to find people who needed her countless goods. Chances were, other Spacetime Traveling Merchants would come to her for trades—which could lead to unimaginable benefits.

Of course, those weren't the main reasons she was tempted. What truly made her decide to take this profession was the reward: "World Affinity."

So-called "World Affinity" meant being someone favored by the world. Historical figures who left lasting legacies—nobles, scholars, beauties—were all individuals blessed by world affinity. They often had better conditions than others and enjoyed higher chances of success, making it easier for them to reach the top.

The effects of "World Affinity" included high luck, increased success rate in endeavors, reduced misfortunes, and lower mortality in disasters.

But above all, it granted recognition by the world consciousness.

Remember the key points of dungeons? Those with Dungeon Passes could move freely through alternate worlds and do as they pleased. However, no matter what they did, they could never enjoy the same treatment as those blessed by world consciousness.

In other words, unless you were vastly more powerful, the success rate for someone chosen by the world would always be higher than yours. You would carry a passive failure debuff.

But possessing "World Affinity" meant enjoying equal treatment as those blessed by the world consciousness. As long as you didn't engage in mass destruction or acts of unforgivable evil, you would be treated fairly as a guest from another world.

In contrast, without a Dungeon Pass, entering another world would result in the world consciousness viewing you as an invader or virus. Your luck would drop three tiers, and you'd be targeted and attacked by all local life. Without the power to destroy worlds, you wouldn't survive.

However, "World Affinity" prevented the world consciousness from labeling you as an immediate threat. Instead, it would observe you for a while—watching your interactions and sensing your sin value before deciding whether to allow you free movement.

This was the foundation that allowed Spacetime Traveling Merchants to safely walk through all worlds. And this ability would grow stronger as the profession leveled up. The affinity glow granted by "World Affinity" would deepen, bringing her ever closer to the world itself. Even if she couldn't become a "Child of the World," she wouldn't fall short of the highest tier of chosen ones.

Finally, the "potential to rival the gods"—wasn't that the boundless energy hidden inside her? That power she still didn't know the origin of or how to use?

"Spiritual Power / Magic Power / Mana / Inner Power: SS / A / A / A"
