Chapter 338: Book 12: Part 19 – Ace Becomes a Paragon!
Everyone was shocked by Orloff's words, causing them to look at the new disciple of which he spoke.
It was common knowledge, be it other Sovereigns or even high-ranking deities, of all the Sovereign; Orloff was by far the most affable – he made friends very easily and rarely ever made enemies. Still, after billions of years of life, never once had he taken in a disciple.
It wasn't for lack of attempts from others. Many deities had requested to become his disciple, be it the children of other Sovereigns, Apex Divine Beasts, or even experts following the path of a Supreme Genius.
Unfortunately, none were able to truly catch his eye. It instantly made them wonder what was so special about this obese deity.
Even Beirut, Bluefire, and Ismarelda, the three Sovereigns who instantly recognised Julius, were unable to figure out what made Julius so special.
They knew that he was a genius, even amongst the freaks of the Golden Sun Pirates, but this was Orloff they were talking about here – the strongest being under the Overgods.
Had it been Ace or Amira, they would've understood, but they couldn't figure out what Orloff saw in Julius.
It was only Orloff himself who understood that it wasn't simply Julius' talent that made him appreciate him so much. As talented as he was, there were others he had come across no less talented than him.
What Orloff really appreciated about his round disciple was his thirst for knowledge over pure power and, two, his reluctance to see bloodshed.
Still, that was secondary to the other revelation that came with Orloff's words. If Orloff were there to ensure Amira was allowed to enter the Planar Battlefield, then it would be all but impossible to keep her from entering.
At the same, whilst the Sovereigns were discussing amongst themselves in the chaotic space surrounding the Planar Battlefield, Muyan appeared in front of Ace with an excited glint in his eyes.
He leisurely asked Ace why he wasn't attacking before proceeding to answer his own question, not giving his soon-to-be opponent the opportunity to answer. He said he knew his friends were on the way and were on the way to support him, but even if they were here, they wouldn't be able to stop him, even with a paragon-level Apex Divine Beast like Garott.
He then looked up at the phantom of the lofty, crown-wearing Ace that hovered behind Ace and admitted that he had no idea how or why Ace had access to two such incredible bloodlines, but with the support of both of them, Ace really was the strongest Full God that had ever existed, and not even Larkel Viz would have been able to defeat him at the same realm.
Unfortunately, in front of the strongest High God, the strongest Full God could only bow his head obediently.
Then, as if to prove his point, Muyan calmly waved his hands, causing Ace's eyes to constrict. He barely had time to tense his muscles before he was enveloped in an explosion so terrifying that even the space around him was shattered, unable to bear the might of Muyan's power.
Ace's body was launched into the distance, where Muyan, as though he had teleported, was already waiting.
Unwilling to give up until his dying breath, Ace, ignoring the agony his body was in, used what little strength he had left to sweep out with his glaive, only for the blade of his polearm to be casually blocked by the Will-infused finger of Muyan.
In response, Muyan, in a dominant display of power, merely bent that same finger downwards, causing his Will-infused, perfectly fused dual-element divine power to shatter virtually every bone in Ace's body.
Muyan was called the strongest deity for a reason. Whether it was the power of his perfect and completely fused two-way divine power or his four units of Willpower, he was in a league of his own.
Ace was sent flying into the distance, where he was abruptly stopped and caught by the fiery divine power of Balmer.
If it were before the battle with Muyan, Ace would've easily been able to resist the power of Balmer's flames, paragon or not. Unfortunately, after taking only two strikes from the strongest deity in the universe, Ace had lost the ability to use either of his bloodline abilities – at this point, he was barely conscious.
Muyan coldly snorted and reminded Balmer that Lord Phueus wanted Ace alive.
As much as he wanted to skin Ace alive, whether it was Muyan or Phueus, they were both figures he was too weak to offend. That was even true for Lozarn, the obsidian-scaled draconian beside him; as such, he hurriedly retracted his divine power before he accidentally killed Ace. Unfortunately, by then, it was too late.
Ace seemingly lost consciousness, causing Balmer's heart to lurch in fear. For a second, Balmer genuinely thought he had killed Ace, causing him to place his hands on Ace's mutilated body in an attempt to send his spiritual essence inside his target to search for life, but that was when a change took place that no one could've seen coming happened.
Ace had been on the precipice of becoming a paragon in the laws of fire for some time now; he even had an opportunity to break through back when he first arrived at the Stellar River. It was unfortunate that his opportunity had been robbed from him back then. Thankfully, it appeared that the heavens hadn't completely forsaken him after all.
Balmer's paragon-level flames entering his body was the closest Ace had ever come to perfected *True Flames*. He may not have intended for it to happen, but Balmer had inadvertently given Ace the spark of insight needed to perfect his own comprehension of the laws of fire.
Balmer, who had just sent his spiritual essence into Ace's body, was assaulted by Ace's Will-infused flames, which then subconsciously flowed out of Ace's body back to the source of the foreign energy.
Lozarn and Muyan watched in shock as Balmer screamed in agony before dropping to the floor – his status was something neither men particularly cared about at that moment. Instead, the two paragons were more focused on the natural laws that had descended, enveloping Ace.
The natural laws only descended for a deity when they were breaking through to a higher realm. Still, there was a difference in quality when one broke through to become a Paragon, and as both men had already achieved that same breakthrough – Muyan several times – they were instantly able to recognise the warning signs.
The eyes of both paragons constricted with a hint of fear as they thought about the implications of Ace's breakthrough.
It had to be remembered that Ace wasn't your average deity; not only did he have a unique glaivesmanship that enhanced his power, but he was also blessed with two heaven-defying bloodlines. One of which seemed able to double his Willpower.
Ace, as a Full God, already had one whole unit of Willpower; should he be allowed to break through and become a paragon, he would then be blessed with another. If that same bloodline ability still operated at that same level, Ace would go from two portions of Willpower to four – the same as Muyan, who was under no delusions; should their Willpower be equal, with all Ace's other abilities, he wouldn't be a match.
Still, that was only the beginning. They, more than anyone else, understood the true terror of the Viz clan's Visual Manifestations.
Unlike other bloodline abilities, which only grew stronger with each breakthrough, a Visual Manifestation saw a qualitative improvement with each breakthrough. Ace's already made him a two-way soul mutate despite not having any affinity or comprehension to one of the laws. Should he break through now, who knew how powerful his Visual Manifestation would become?
Their minds instantly remembered that incredible Visual Manifestation belonging to Larkel, the one which allowed him to create Sovereign Power of his own. Should Ace's reach a similar level, Ace would become the true, undoubted strongest deity of all time.
In that moment, both paragons threw caution to the wind and attacked with everything they had.
Their attacks were devastating, to say the least. Unfortunately, they both seemed to have forgotten one more key piece of information. Unlike the other breakthroughs as deities, when one became a paragon, they would be protected by the heavens themselves. Unless one was able to attack with the power of a Sovereign, disrupting it was a fool's errand.
They could only watch helplessly as Ace's crimson-coloured Full God divine spark floated out of his body and up into the air as it slowly evolved.
Seeing that, Lozarn's eyes flashed with a decisive light as a giant, obsidian dragon's head manifested in the air above him with its giant mouth open.
As an Apex Divine Beast, Lozarn, of course, had a Divine Ability of his own, and it was no less terrifying than any other's. It allowed him to fire a beam of pure destruction, but it didn't target the body, nor did it target the soul of his target. Instead, its sole target was the divine spark of his target.
Divine Sparks were said to be indestructible, even to Sovereigns, which was what made this Divine Ability so frightening. Unfortunately, it could be resisted using the power of Will, which was why he rarely used it in battles against paragons unless they were greatly injured already. If not, he would be the one to face a terrifying backlash that would put him on death's door.
Ace wasn't quite a paragon yet, but he had access to the power of Will – even more than Lozarn himself. Still, as it stood, Ace was still unconscious, and even though he was being protected by the power of heaven during his breakthrough, Lozarn's Divine Ability was able to achieve something that not even Sovereigns were capable of, whether or not the power of heaven surrounding Ace was capable of stopping Lozarn's Divine Ability was something that not even he had an answer for, all he could do was try and hope for the best.
