Gol D. Ace In Coiling Dragon

Chapter 371: Book 13: Part 24 – Aiden’s Infuriating Display of Power

Despite the fact that she was summoned by Linley, due to Ace's identity as a "parasite" of the Coiling Dragon Universe, from the moment she manifested on the Planar Battlefield, the Overgod of Life focused all of her attention on Ace, and as her manifestation became clearer, so too was the pressure that surrounded Ace.

Ace understood that she was doing this on purpose; thanks to his master and the original spirit of the wind, he knew full well how the various Overgod spirits saw him. He knew that at this point, short of him forfeiting his life – something he was completely unwilling to do – there was no way for their two sides to reconcile.

He also knew that even though this wasn't the Overgod of Life's true body, and as such, she wasn't able to use even a fraction of her true power, and his most recent breakthrough came with an incredible power-up this Overgod could forcibly erase his existence with but a mere thought. Even so, his spirit didn't falter for even a second.

Forget bending his knees; he refused to make so much as a sound of discomfort. Still, it was his next move that brought overwhelming shock to not just Linley and the Overgod of Life but every single being present, including his Phueus, Orloff, and his master, the last of whom knew him better than almost everyone.

In fact, the only person who didn't seem shocked by Ace's action was his wife, Gol D. Amira. As she heard her husband's cold snort, she couldn't help but smile wryly and shake her head helplessly as she watched him thrust his spear at the head of the Overgod.

The might of this strike was several times more powerful than the strike he used to kill Matadall. In fact, the two couldn't be mentioned in the same breath.

After his most recent breakthrough, Ace had been on cloud nine – he was one step closer to his goal of standing at the apex of the universe, a fact that had only become more clear after killing a paragon-level Intermediate Sovereign with one strike as such, one could only imagine the frustration he felt to be so publicly reminded that despite his recent growth, he was still nothing more than an ant to his true enemies.

But thanks to his mental resilience and fortitude, he was able to turn that frustration into a source of power. At that moment, his mind whirred as he entered a state of frustrated enlightenment, one that allowed him to not only begin fusing the Mandate of Gravity with some of the other Mandates of Pure Yang but also come up with an incredibly profound technique that allowed him to utilise his new fused Mandates with incredible precision and power.

The name of the technique was "[Starburst Maelstrom]," and it was a technique that fused the Mandates of Gravity with the Pure Yang Mandates of Explosion, Warped Light, and Purity. It was a sweeping attack that allowed Ace to suck in and distort the world around him.

What was so incredible about this technique was that not only did it warp and destroy the space between Ace and the Overgod, but even time itself was being distorted.

If before, the Overgod of Life was surprised by Ace having the audacity to actually attack her, then now she was beyond shocked by the profundity of this attack.

Although Space and Time were supposedly seen as Laws on the same level, it was common knowledge that the Laws of Time were a lot harder to affect. After all, with enough raw power, one was able to distort and destroy space. Even the Laws of Wind had the Profound Mystery of Spatial Winds, and even though it didn't allow its practitioners to truly manipulate Space in the true sense of the word, they were still able to affect the fabric of Space.

Still, Time was different. There was no amount of raw power that could affect the Laws of Time. Still, it wasn't like there weren't others who were able to affect the Laws of Time with their respective abilities. Linley and the other members of the Azure Dragon Clan were proof of that – their Divine Ability allowed them to slow and even freeze time.

But the difference was that Ace wasn't using a Divine Ability of any kind. It was just an ordinary technique utilising the fusion of Mandates of his element.

Ace had accumulated an incredible total of 80 units of Willpower by this point, the same as an ordinary Chief Sovereign who was yet to become a Paragon. Even so, due to the fact that his Pure Yang Divine Power was 50 times weaker than that of a Chief Sovereign, he would be hard-pressed to fight one to a standstill.

Even so, as they looked at Ace's strike, which only seemed to be growing in power as it moved, even Wodred had to admit that it was a strike that would pose a substantial threat to even him, let alone the other Chief Sovereigns.

Unfortunately, Ace's target this time was no Sovereign. Despite her shock, the Overgod of Life felt no threat from Ace's attack; she was just surprised.

In response, she merely raised her finger, thrusting it towards the tip of Ace's glaive.

It was abundantly clear from the overwhelming and incredibly potent killing intent she was radiating that the Overgod of Life had every intention of killing Ace where he stood. Unfortunately, her attack was never destined to meet its mark.

The moment she raised her hand to strike back, Aiden sighed helplessly as he seemingly teleported, appearing in between the two attacks, casually blocking both before slapping his impulsive disciple around the back of the head and asking him why he was attacking, reminding him that as she was here after being summoned for the completion of the Overgod Mission, she was effectively representing heaven.

As long as Ace didn't attack her, she was forbidden from attacking him or anyone else for that matter – at least for the duration of her granting the wish of the one who completed her Overgod Mission.

Hearing that, Ace snorted but ultimately said nothing. He knew that he acted a little impulsively, but in that moment, he was too pissed off to care; he just wanted to wipe the aggravating and condescending expression off her face. Plus, above all else, he knew full well that with Aiden there, nothing would or could happen to him.

Aiden could only sigh helplessly at his disciple's reaction, or in this case, lack thereof. Most thought Aiden's sigh was because he didn't approve of Ace's impulsivity, but his following words left them gobsmacked.

Aiden shook his head as he said, "If you were gonna attack the old wench and force this incredible and dashing master of yours to make a move, the least you could've done is finished fusing that tenth mystery of yours with the others and become a paragon. To do all that and only fuse it with three… your title as the number one genius is completely undeserved."

The more he spoke, the more those listening shuddered. First of all, to call the Overgod of one of the Edicts an "old wench," they could only shudder in fear at the thought of a fight between two genuine Overgods breaking out, but then to go from insulting the Overgod of Life to complimenting himself, they couldn't help but "admire" his "eccentric" personality, but as though that wasn't enough, he went on to talk about Ace and his breakthrough.

Aside from the Overgods, who were powerful enough to see through the mysteries of the world with far more clarity than others, none were able to tell exactly what Ace had comprehended for his strike to be so profound and powerful.

So when they heard that, in what was only a few seconds, Ace had not only completed a four-way fusion but also come up with such an incredible technique, they were astounded. But then for Aiden to look down on such an accomplishment like it was pathetic…

But before they could come to terms with it all, both Ace and the Overgod of Life attacked once more, but this time, instead of attacking each other, they were attacking Aiden, and the power behind both their attacks was significantly stronger than before, a fact that was especially true for the Overgod of Life.

Her last attack focused on Ace could only be described as casual. Although it was more than powerful enough to wipe out Ace and even destroy the Planar Battlefield, she didn't put much effort into it at all. Just like Ace, she knew full well that Aiden wouldn't let anything happen. Her last attack was more of a warning than anything else, but this one, this attack was infused with her full might as an Overgod, or at least all the might she could use without her true body being present.

Even so, Aiden blocked both attacks with seemingly just as much ease as before. What was even more impressive was that everyone could sense the overwhelming power of both Ace's and the Overgod of Life's attacks, and yet when Aiden blocked them, neither attack was able to destroy so much as a single blade of grass on the Planar Battlefield.

This was a feat that was only achievable when the difference between those clashing was too vast to be described.

Even so, neither Ace nor the Overgod of Life appeared even slightly surprised by the outcome.

Aiden then grabbed his disciple and casually flung him over his shoulder before turning to the Overgod of life with a seemingly warm and amiable smile, telling her that she could now continue on with making one of her future enemies stronger. He promises to make sure his unruly disciple won't intervene any further.

His words were clearly intended to antagonise the Overgod of Life, and that's exactly what they did. Frown lines could be seen on her otherwise enchanting face, as could a throbbing vein on the side of her head. Still, before the Overgod could respond, Aiden had disappeared, reappearing beside his wife with Ace still on his shoulder.
