Chapter 289: Chapter 289 Borrowing A Dragon

Republic of Padokea, Kukuroo Mountain.

An airship flew over the Zoldyck Family's territory. The hull was marked with the emblem exclusive to the Hunter Association. Below, a dense sea of trees stretched out endlessly.

The airship passed over the forest and headed toward Kukuroo Mountain.

After arriving above Kukuroo Mountain, the airship slowly landed on the top of the mountain.

This is a dormant volcano and also the location of the Zoldyck Family's estate.

After the airship came to a stop, two people walked out of the airship. They are Law and Netero.

Law was dressed in black, his hands still wrapped in white bandages, though his injuries had mostly healed. It seemed his body's regenerative abilities were quite strong.

Netero wore his usual attire for outings, with long sleeves that draped down and wooden clogs on his feet.

After the two got off the airship, they walked toward the massive stone gate of the Zoldyck Family's estate. The gate was adorned with two Chinese dragon reliefs, one on each side, forming the image of two dragons playing with a pearl.

Law's gaze lingered on the intricate carvings for a moment before shifting to the white-haired, muscular man standing in front of the gate.

He recognized the man immediately.

'Silva, Killua's father. Speaking of which, I wonder if Killua has been born yet, or Gon...'

Law thought to himself, then glanced at Netero. They had come to the Zoldyck Family's estate for official business, but this matter required Netero to take the lead.

He... wants to borrow a dragon from the Zoldyck Family.

Silva greeted Netero with the respect of a junior. In front of Netero, he was like a child.

"Great-grandfather is waiting for you." Silva said, using a respectful tone.

"Thank you." Netero said politely.

"Please follow me."

Silva pushed open the gate, revealing the uniquely styled, massive mansion that few outsiders ever had the chance to see.

Netero walked with his arms naturally at his sides, his sleeves swaying with each step as he followed Silva.

Seeing this, Law followed in silence. After all, he was a complete outsider and had little say in the matter, so he planned to remain quiet throughout the visit.

He observed Silva's broad back. He didn't expect that he would come to the Zoldyck Family's estate under such circumstances and meet Killua's father.

However, since he had already met Netero and even Maha, this actually wasn't such a big deal.

When Law received the message that day, he had immediately gone to find Netero. It was just before dawn, and Netero was already awake.

Law explained the situation to Netero and learned the details of the mission from him. He then considered using the favor Netero owed him to borrow an airship and head straight to Alcatraz Island.

However, Netero did not let Law waste his request, because this was also the Hunter Association's business and he could not stay out of it.

After figuring out the difficulty of transportation, Law accompanied Netero to the Zoldyck Family's estate.

The only way to go to Alcatraz Island is by sea, which takes too long. If they take an airship, they cannot reach Alcatraz Island. Moreover, they must get approval to go to Alcatraz Island, and even the Hunter Association couldn't bypass this.

Regardless of whether approval would be granted, the reviewing authorities would decide based on the urgency of the request, potentially delaying or outright denying it.

In short, obtaining legal permission to land on the island would involve a tedious process, and Law had no patience for that.

From Netero's perspective, the Hunter Association needed to first contact Clort Prison to clarify the situation, then coordinate with Amber City's officials to determine the next steps.

Regardless of the approach, as the hired party, the Hunter Association had to adhere to various rules and couldn't act recklessly.

However, Law is not a member of the Hunter Association, and the mission has nothing to do with him. He simply wanted to go to Alcatraz Island to find Sanbica.

Under Silva's guidance, Law followed him into the Zoldyck Family's estate. The place was vast, but as they walked, they saw few people, giving the estate an eerie sense of desolation.

Silva led the two directly to Maha's room. Once they arrived, he turned and left.

Before leaving, Silva glanced at Law, their eyes met briefly, and then he left the room without looking back.

Silva wasn't sure what kind of relationship Law had with his great-grandfather and Netero. Given the age difference, what kind of connection could they possibly have?

Of course, this matter had nothing to do with the commission, so Silva only pondered it briefly before dismissing it.

However, he had indeed taken note of Law. They might cross paths in the future, and this encounter could serve as a reference.

Law watched Silva's retreating figure for a moment before turning his attention back to the room.

This man exuded a sense of strength that didn't require close observation to recognize.

As a member of the Zoldyck Family, Maha appeared ordinary and unassuming, with an Aura and Nen that were completely internalized. In contrast, Silva's presence was steady but not entirely restrained, giving off a palpable sense of pressure.

Maha's room was enormous, yet sparsely furnished. The few pieces of furniture were made of wood, giving the space an antique feel. However, an old-fashioned TV and radio stood out, clashing with the overall aesthetic.

At the moment, Maha was sitting in a wooden chair, his eyes half-closed as he watched a funny cartoon on the old TV.

When Law and Netero approached, Maha glanced at them before calmly picking up the remote and turning off the TV, gesturing for them to sit down.

On the antique table were two cups of hot tea and a plate of delicate pastries.

"Urgent?"

Maha asked calmly as he watched the two of them sit down.

He had only returned from the Association a few days ago and was surprised when Netero suddenly called, asking to borrow one of the family's dragons.

Hearing Maha's question, Netero glanced at Law, then nodded and said, "We need to leave immediately."

Maha followed Netero's gaze and also glanced at Law, but he didn't ask further. Instead, he said, "After you finish your tea, follow me."

Having said that, he slowly stood up.

As Law and Netero had just sat down but immediately picked up their teacups and finished them in one go.

The three of them left the room and headed out of the estate.

Kukuroo Mountain was a dormant volcano, and the Zoldyck Family's dragon was kept in the crater.

When needed, they would ride the dragon to travel anywhere, though it was rarely used since the Zoldyck Family's business was mostly concentrated on the Yorbian and Kintou Continents.

"If you find it troublesome, you can commission the Zoldycks for help. I can give you a 30% discount." Maha suddenly said halfway through the journey.

Netero simply smiled and didn't respond. Not only was this matter not purely about combat, even if it was, there were very few situations where he would feel the need to ask for help.

Moreover, the only person currently willing to act outside the rules was Law. And as the Chairman of the Hunter Association, Netero couldn't afford to blatantly break the rules.

Living under the governance of the V5 inevitably meant sacrificing some freedom.

The three of them left the estate, passing through the gate and heading toward the volcano's crater.

After they had walked some distance, a black-haired boy emerged from the estate. It was Illumi.

He watched the direction in which Maha and the others had gone, stroking his chin thoughtfully.

'Why is he here? And what's his relationship with Great-grandfather?'
