Great Demon Sun Wukong

Chapter 834: Grand Finale (4)

Chang'er, being the daughter of Di Jun, was very aware of the broader situation. Although she realized she married the wrong person, she also knew she had no choice. Since she was already married to Hou Yi, she could only continue with it, especially since Hou Yi treated her with care and affection. Moreover, after being with Hou Yi for so long, it would be false to say that Chang'er didn't love him at all. As for Feng Meng, it wasn't love, just a feeling of gratitude. Given how things were, she could only repay him in other ways.

Chang'er quickly composed herself and did not show any abnormality in front of anyone. However, she casually suggested that Hou Yi promote Feng Meng more often. Hou Yi and Feng Meng were both teacher and friend, and Hou Yi had always regarded Feng Meng as a brother, so he naturally agreed. And since Feng Meng had no wife, Chang'er often invited him over for meals. This was quite normal, but shortly after, trouble arose.

Of course, the issue wasn't between Chang'er and Feng Meng. In fact, they treated each other with the utmost respect and had no inappropriate thoughts. Feng Meng never had untoward intentions towards Chang'er, and Chang'er only felt gratitude towards Feng Meng. The problem was with Hou Yi. One night, Hou Yi returned home heavily intoxicated and took something out of his bosom. It was a jade box, and Hou Yi told Chang'er it contained an Immortal Elixir he had obtained from the Queen Mother of the West. Consuming it would grant eternal life and immediate enlightenment.

Not only that, but since that night, Hou Yi's temperament changed drastically. He became not only domineering but also incredibly obsessed with pursuing power. Eventually, in his quest for enlightenment, Hou Yi recklessly hurled himself into the Bottomless Abyss.

Hou Yi was not purely of the Human Clan but of the Witch Clan. At that time, he was not an Ancestral Witch, just an ordinary member of the Witch Clan. The Witch Clan had twelve Ancestral Witches, formed from the essence blood of Pangu, the Pioneer, who governed the Six Paths of Reincarnation in the Pangu Realm. A portion of the Pioneer's essence blood, within the Six Paths of Reincarnation, was inherently attached to the soul and essence born within humans and the Demon Clan, giving rise to innate divine power, hence forming the Great Witches and establishing the Witch Clan.

The Witch Clan lineage lacked the soul imprint of the Pioneer, possessing boundless mana but unable to comprehend the secrets of Heaven. Consequently, they were inherently lacking in human emotion, cruel and vicious. Great Witches had no Primordial Spirit, only Ancestral Witches did, but they were inherently deficient, hence unable to attain enlightenment. Unless they obtained sufficient spirit or united as Ancestral Witches, gathering the Pioneer's true form, and further confirming with the power of the Five-Colored Divine Stone.

Thus, discord arose among the Ancestral Witches, with the Five-Colored Divine Stone falling into the hands of the Demon Clan, sowing the seeds for the subsequent conflict between the Witches and Demons. The Great Witches, though lacking Primordial Spirit, had innate divine power, high combat power, forming many tribes like Gonggong, Zhurong, Youxiong, Nine Li, and Fengfeng. Among the Great Witches were Jiufeng, Kuafu, Hou Yi, Chi You, and Xing Tian.

Of course, here we only speak of Hou Yi. In his pursuit of enlightenment, he somehow heard a rumor that entering the Bottomless Abyss could lead to enlightenment, followed by consuming the Immortal Pill to become immortal. Everyone believed he would surely perish, but three years later, Hou Yi reemerged from the Bottomless Abyss, completely changed—cold, domineering. Upon his return, everyone was both relieved and fearful.

In hindsight, this incident is not difficult to understand. All of Hou Yi's changes were actually the deceitful work of the Primordial Honor. The Primordial Honor wanted a body of sufficient strength, painstakingly plotting to control the Twelve Ancestral Witches. It gradually found all the Witch Clan members, planting seeds within them, intending to eventually unite all members of the Witch Clan, reforge the Pioneer's body for his use.

Therefore, after emerging from the Bottomless Abyss, Hou Yi had lost his spirit, and to maximize Hou Yi's power, the Primordial Honor awakened the slaughtering intent within Hou Yi's Witch Clan bloodline. As expected, just three to five days after Hou Yi's return, he killed countless people under various pretenses, and Hou Yi's violent nature emerged from this.

With his murderous tendencies, Hou Yi suddenly targeted Chang'er, because she, as the daughter of Di Jun, possessed the purest force of lunar essence. Devouring Chang'er would significantly increase Hou Yi's power. However, Hou Yi's maddening slaughter finally enraged Feng Meng. While Feng Meng could turn a blind eye to Hou Yi killing ordinary people, Chang'er was his wife and the daughter of Di Jun, to whom they both owed a great debt of gratitude.

Feng Meng also realized something must have happened to Hou Yi. To prevent Hou Yi from killing Chang'er, Feng Meng was willing to fight Hou Yi. The two had always been evenly matched, and over the past three years, Feng Meng had trained diligently, resulting in a stalemate in their battle. This event eventually reached the ears of Tang Yao, the then sovereign of the mortal realm and a formidable figure, who immediately rushed to Shangqiu where Hou Yi was.

Hou Yi and Feng Meng fought fiercely for five whole days. Hou Yi, possessing Witch Clan bloodline, grew stronger with each battle, and Feng Meng gradually began to falter. Just then, Tang Yao arrived. Tang Yao's strength was originally above Hou Yi's. With Tang Yao's joining, Hou Yi finally fell into a disadvantage, but being of the Witch Clan, he only grew stronger the more he fought. Although Tang Yao had the upper hand, he still couldn't defeat Hou Yi, and the two of them fought for three whole months.

The battle turned the heavens and earth upside down, sun and moon lost their light. In the end, Tang Yao, like Feng Meng, found his strength failing. However, Hou Yi was also reaching his limit. Seeing Tang Yao about to be defeated, Feng Meng, in desperation, took out Hou Yi's Sun Shooting Divine Bow, drew the bow and nocked the arrows. The bow was the Sun Shooting Divine Bow, and the arrows were Sky-Shocking Arrows. However, Feng Meng did not intend to kill Hou Yi, but planned to shoot his hands and feet to render him powerless. But when Feng Meng nocked four arrows and shot them all, aiming originally for Hou Yi's hands and feet, who would have known Hou Yi would suddenly unleash his full might, sending Tang Yao flying, and instead dashing straight into the oncoming deadly arrows.

All four Sky-Shocking Arrows pierced through his chest, and Hou Yi was shot dead by Feng Meng. Having inadvertently killed Hou Yi, Feng Meng felt as if struck by lightning, almost collapsing in despair, even trying to end his life several times but was stopped by Tang Yao. In Feng Meng's heart, Hou Yi was like both a teacher and a father. He never intended to kill Hou Yi, but who knew Hou Yi would rush into the Sky-Shocking Arrows himself.

Though overwhelmed with grief, Feng Meng still endured the pain to give Hou Yi a grand burial. Hou Yi's death was also a tremendous blow to Chang'er, who from that moment could not rise from her sickness. Despite consulting numerous renowned doctors, none could help, and as Chang'er's condition worsened, her life was nearly at its end. Feng Meng suddenly remembered Hou Yi had mentioned that he had prayed for an Immortal Elixir from the Queen Mother of the West, so he immediately found it and fed it to Chang'er.

Indeed it was a divine medicine. Upon taking the elixir, Chang'er soon awoke, not only completely cured but her body exuded waves of Immortal Qi. What surprised Feng Meng even more was that Chang'er's body began to float upwards. In Feng Meng's astonished gaze, Chang'er ascended higher and higher. Coincidentally, it was the fifteenth of August, and many saw Chang'er glowing with a faint luminescence as she flew towards the moon, never to be seen again.

Chang'er disappeared, Hou Yi died, and in no time, Feng Meng was desolate. On the third anniversary of Chang'er's disappearance, on the fifteenth of August, Feng Meng sat by Hou Yi's grave, and there he remained for forty-nine years. In the autumn of the forty-ninth year, Feng Meng passed away without illness. After his death, he arrived in the Netherworld, underwent the Six Paths of Reincarnation, and became an ordinary person.

Later, Zhu Bajie was spotted by the Jade Emperor, attained immortality, and in Heaven managed eighty thousand water soldiers, guarding the Heavenly River. Highly favored by the Jade Emperor, he was titled Tianpeng Marshal. Zhu Bajie also learned the Thirty-Six Heavenly Ganges Techniques: Control Creation, Reverse Yin and Yang, Shift Stars and Constellations, Turn Back Time, Command the Rain and Wind, Shake Mountains and Earth, Ride Clouds and Mist, Split Rivers into Land, Travel the World with Golden Light, Stirthe Seas, Point and Turn Ground into Steel, Great Escape of the Five Elements, Strange Doors of the Six Jias, See the Future Reversed, Whip Mountains and Move Stones, Raise the Dead, Fly and Conceal Traces, 'Breathe Nine Times in Submission,' Draw Out Primordial Yang, Subdue Dragons and Tigers, Mend Heaven and Bathe the Sun, Push Mountains and Fill Seas, Point and Turn Stone into Gold, Stand Firmly Without Shadow, Transform the Womb Easily, Enlarge and Fulfill Wishes, Bloom Flowers in an Instant, Travel Spirit by Will, See Through Walls and Holes, Reverse Wind and Fire, Master the Five Thunders, Plunge into Abyss and Shrink the Earth, Fly Sand and Stones, Lift and Cross Seas, Turn Beans into Soldiers, Nail Head Seven Arrows.

As for Chang'er, she arrived at the Moon Palace, becoming Fairy Chang'er, guarding the Moon Palace alone, watching over the laurel tree said to be transformed from the eyelashes of a Pioneer.

After Hou Yi's death, he was revived by the Primordial Honor, taken away from the Pangu Realm, and after countless years of cultivation, finally became one of the Twelve Ancestral Witches. He appeared many times in later battles, but overall, Hou Yi was a tragic figure.

This is the story of Chang'er and Zhu Bajie. After becoming Tianpeng Marshal, Zhu Bajie learned that Chang'er hadn't died but was residing in the Moon Palace. After attaining enlightenment, Zhu Bajie's past life's memories returned, recalling everything. He went once to the Moon Palace, to speak with Chang'er about his affairs.

In the Heavenly Palace, Chang'er had no relatives, naturally taking Zhu Bajie as family. However, every time Zhu Bajie saw Chang'er, he would think of Hou Yi, and would be overwhelmed with heartache. Gradually, he dared not approach Chang'er. But who would have thought he was framed by the Primordial Honor, resulting in the charge of drunkenly teasing Chang'er, receiving two thousand strikes from the Jade Emperor and was exiled to the mortal world.

At the time of reincarnation into the mortal world, he mistakenly reincarnated into a pig fetus, his appearance similar to a pig. He had once occupied the Cloud Trapping Cave on Fuling Mountain as a demon. He bit to death a mother pig, killed many swine, and married into the family of the second sister Hatch (a dead egg born from the phoenix that transformed into a demon due to strong spiritual energy) in the Cloud Trapping Cave on Fuling Mountain. Unexpectedly, a year later, the second sister Hatch died, leaving behind only a cave for him. Thus, settled in the Cloud Trapping Cave, he called himself "Zhu Ganglie." (To be continued.
