Chapter 22: Chapter 22- Men From shadow sect (2)
By the time the men from shadow came out, Grey was long gone. As he dashed out of the scavengers camp, the cold glint in his eyes exuded an icy chillness.
His eyes narrowed as he took a glance behind him towards the men from shadow sect. They had shown killing intent towards him so they had to die.
He could not keep hidden dangers by his side if not he would have felt uneasy. But just killing one of them was not enough to reduce the wariness in his heart.
"I have to kill them all, only then can I stop feeling uneasy."
He had heard of shadow sect before. They held some influence in this part of the eastern Continent. Although the only area they controlled was small and remote, it was still a lot.
There sect members normal went around plundering and ransacking from neighbouring scavenger camps.
While they felt nothing because of their sects influence within the area. Although Grey was strong, even he had to be careful of their members as most of them were in the later stages of Qi condensation while their sects master and ancestor were even in the Foundation Building realm.
But as far as he could see his creatures, he would not care about other things. Just as he was about to leave the camp, he saw a big book with a blue cover lying on the floor.
It's pages looked dirtied and you could tell it had been lying there for a while. Grey warily walked over and picked up the book. His eyes widened a bit when he saw the title.
It was a book all about the Dao of medicine. Such book was priceless and could be sold anywhere. He didn't hesitate to pick it up after sending there was nothing wrong with it.
As put the large book in his empty rucksack, he continued to speed away and soon he was out of the scavengers camp and his figure from afar could be seen rushing towards the corroded zone.
In the sky up above, a middle aged an wearing blue robes and putting his hands in his pocket smiled slightly as he muttered to the beautiful woman by his side.
"He took the book Lady sixth..."
The beautiful lady standing casually in the air holding an umbrella sighed as a faint smile appeared on her face.
"Yes, he did."
Grey did not notice anything wrong, so his attention was still to get to the corroded zone. As he navigated the forest with great familiarity, he soon came upon a broken house in the distance. Sunlight filtering in through the cracks in the roof.
Grey sighed a little and removed the rock blocking the entrance. He looked warily at his surroundings before closing the entrance.
He sat down cross-legged as he held the big book in his hands as he opened it to look at its contents.
He kept reading the book until night came. Then he kept the book by his side and gave a long sigh.
He gaze seemed to linger as he looked at the moon throughout the cracks in the ceiling.
"I never knew this herb could have such medicinal properties."
He muttered softly as he closed his eyes to cultivate. The Qi within his body slowly circulating as he fell into a semi-conscious state.
Several days slowly passed as Grey was preoccupied with reading the Dao of medicine and cultivating.
He had not gone out throughout this time so he did not know what his action of killing that man from the shadow sect had done.
Now in the scavengers camp, there were several men wearing the same black clothes with a wolf on the the back. Their expressions were ugly as they terrorised the people in the scavengers camp.
"Do you really think that a small kid could have killed one of our own?"
A thin tall man with a wicked expression on his face said as he stared lustfully at a passing woman. The woman seemed to notice his face and scrunched her face in disgust as she walked faster.
The thin man laughed loudly as he held his chest. His lingering gaze followed the distant figure of the woman as he continued to gaze at her lecherously.
His companion seemed to follow his gaze and also laughed with malicious intent. He licked his lips with cold intent as he followed his friends gaze.
"I don't care about that, but who would have thought a scavenger camp such as this one would remain unknown to us... The beauties are..." His voice trailed off as he also laughed lecherously.
"I heard Derek is talking to the leader of the scavenger camp. He is demanding that the leader finds the whereabouts of the kid, if not this camp will.... well maybe we get to plunder this place." He continued.
Meanwhile, Grey was busy in the corroded zone gathering some herbs he could find according to the Dao of medicine. He was planning on making medicinal Pills based on the instructions in the book.
He also saw different other Pills there but the medicinal pill used for neutralizing the corrosive substance seemed easiest to prepare.
So right now he was gathering several herbs he could find according to their descriptions in the Dao of medicine.
Some matched the descriptions whole others... not so much. But he still picked them anyways.
"This looks like green thorn flower, but it lacks the heat that is normally supposed to be around it." Grey said as he pondered whether he should take it or not.
In the end it was picked up. Several hours later, he was back in his broken abode as he sat down and compared the herbs he had gathered to the ones in the book.
There were some noticeable difference and he eliminated some herbs that could cause the creation of his pill to turn into something else entire.
When he was done, he sat down as he memorized the method used for creating the Pills. One had to have a source of heat that was not too hot nor too cold and the Pills had to be prepared with a standard measurement.
After he closed the book, a hint of enlightenment appeared on his eyes and he got to work immediately.
He came out of his broken house and went to the back. He hesitated then went further away and a small dilapidated shed was found.
The roof had completely been corroded and only a black weather beaten table was seen. Everything inside had either spoilde or been corroded.
"Here will have to do..." He picked this place to practice creating medicine. He did not choose his house because he was afraid something could go wrong and he would have no place to stay, he suddenly thought about the shed that was not too far away and decided to use here because not only was it far away from his house, it was also a bit scary as many creatures had died here making this place contain an aura of death.
Perfect to deter any random creature that may just waltz in. After arranging everywhere to his liking, he brought his rucksack, his coal stove and other things he felt might be needed.
"Let's start making medicine"
Grey muttered and rubbed his hand together as he started.
