Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 607: Garden Cafe

Adam walked through the crowded and muddy streets of the Harbor Quarter with a bottle of Compass Rose in hand. He wasn't wearing his Magus robes, instead, he was dressed in trousers, a tunic, and a cape, looking no different from a mortal adventurer.

Although it was late into the night, the streets were packed as ever. Ships docked and departed from the harbor throughout the day. The workers in the warehouses pulled work shifts throughout the night. The market here was bustling at any time of the day.

The raven-haired youth took a swig from the bottle as he looked around, observing his surroundings with piqued interest. The waters glittered under the light of Selene and Luna, with ships of all kinds docked on the wooden piers.

The skyline of this district wasn't too fancy, consisting of sprawling warehouses, bustling taverns, and towering cranes made out of wood and iron.

A diverse array of individuals moved through the harbor: burly dockhands, finely dressed merchants, exhausted sailors, and shadowy figures lurking in the alleyways. Harbormasters barked out orders, carrying their ledgers and recording ship manifests.

By the time Adam was about to leave the Harbor Quarter, he had already finished the bottle of liquor in his hand. He chucked it at the nearby dumpster, all the while grumpily mumbling to himself, "That damned vixen… didn't even give me a discount… hmph!"

He noticed a few thieves trailing behind him in the shadows. Adam had long since noticed them, but he was not too bothered. He also didn't feel like dealing with them at the moment.

Perhaps, if he were wearing his robes and the pointy hat, these thieves would have never dared to follow him. But it didn't matter, he didn't care.

With a simple hand seal, he turned invisible, causing the small group of thieves behind him to become stupefied. Then, their legs started trembling and the fear of god flashed in their eyes.

Without hesitating a moment longer, they turned around and ran for their lives, thinking that the target of their attempted thievery—a mighty Magus, no less—would now come after them.

However, Adam had long since left the district. He jumped from one rooftop to the next, making his way to the place that served the best wine in the city. The night was still young and he didn't wish to go home yet.

Garden Cafe, Uptown Quarter.

This posh cafe radiated elegance and charm, blending natural beauty with an aura of refined sophistication—as one would expect from a place run by an elf.

The cafe was a two-story building, boasting a stone exterior with intricate carvings of leaves, vines, and flowers. If one didn't know any better, they'd think they had arrived at the Herbalist's Guild.

Tall, arched windows allowed passersby to glimpse the cozy interior. Delicate flowers grew in the planters outside, radiating a pleasant smell for all nearby.

A hand-carved wooden sign hung above the entrance to the building, its lettering in Acaros—the common tongue of the Acadian Empire—glowing softly with a faint magical luminescence.

This place was one of the best places to dine in the city, allowing it to maintain an air of exclusivity. All those who came here were naturally very affluent and influential.

Since it was the weekend, there was a long queue before the entrance. People were patiently waiting to go inside and get a taste of the cafe's signature wine - Eclipse Nectar. It was undoubtedly the best wine found in these lands.

The people who were standing in the queue were all elites, belonging to noble households or wealthy merchant families. They were dressed to the nines, needless to say.

Suddenly, a soft commotion was heard from the back of the line. When the people at the front turned back to see what the source was, they couldn't help but frown.

They saw a youth wearing plain and simple clothes, ignoring the queue and making his way toward the entrance of the cafe.

Now, they weren't disapproving of the clothes he was wearing. No, they could tell that although the clothes the youth was wearing appeared plain, they were in fact made of high-quality fabric. The clothes were expensive, they just weren't showy.

The people standing in the queue were displeased about the fact that the young man had the gall to break the queue and ignore all the people who were waiting. Most looked at him with dissatisfaction, some scolded him to join the line.

Adam simply ignored them, causing some to be even more infuriated.

However, the people in the queue thought they'd be in for a good show. It was the weekend and the proprietor of the cafe, Enzana Feno, personally greeted customers at the entrance.

Her presence was calming and magnetic, but at the same time, she was a quite stern individual who would not accept people breaking rules. Moreover, she was not scared of offending the wealthy people who came to her cafe if they did something wrong.

The first reason was that she was a powerful Magus in her own right. But the main reason was that her elder brother was part of the city council. The power and authority that the Feno Family wielded allowed Enzana to establish herself in the hospitality sector of Ravenfell.

It went without saying that Garden Cafe served some of the finest food in the city, and she too was a very ethical and well-respected business owner.

When Enzana, who was greeting the customers standing at the front of the queue, saw an individual breaking the line and approaching the entrance, she couldn't help but frown.

Before she could instruct the guards to outright deny the person entry, her eyes lit up when she identified the person. She ignored the people standing at the front of her line and walked toward Adam.

Everyone expected an entertaining scene to take place where Enzana would ruthlessly reprimand this rude young man who dared to break the line. But what happened was completely out of their expectations.

"Oh my, Adam dearest, you should have informed me that you were coming tonight," the beautiful, middle-aged lady, Enzana, spoke in a welcoming and cheerful voice.

Adam displayed a polite smile, "Lady Enzana." He placed his hand above his chest and slightly bowed. "You look as lovely as ever."

Enzana Feno, unlike her niece, was much friendlier and respectful toward Adam. It was one of the reasons why he had chosen to do business with her. That, and the fact that Enzana's cafe produced the best wine in the city.

"Come, let us go in." The elf ushered Adam into the cafe. "Also, tell me what you think about the placement of your artwork on the main floor. I'm planning to remodel the whole interiors, centering around the art piece. I need your input."

"It would be my pleasure," said Adam with a smile.

Under the dumbfounded gazes of the influential people standing in the queue, Enzana accompanied Adam into the building.
