Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 623: Intimidating Aura

After traveling for almost half a month, the pair arrived at the capital of the Cormier Kingdom, the coastal city of Helcia.

Anna had found out that one of the carriages carrying prospective Magi to the Clover Academy in Moon City, Nightingale Kingdom was going to pass through here.

She planned to have Adam get on one of these carriages and have him safely reach the academy where he would take the entrance exam.

Usually, a lot of paperwork was involved in signing up for the carriage rentals. However, it was easy for a Magus of Anna's caliber to skip this process and directly consult the group of Magi from Clover Academy who were responsible for protecting the kids in the carriage.

"Wait for me here, okay?" The princess crouched before Adam and smiled. "I'll be back in a minute."

Adam looked around nervously. They were in the downtown area of Helcia. Being the capital of Cormier Kingdom, it was a given that the city would be very crowded.

The youth had never seen so many people in one place before. Moreover, the tall buildings around him also made him feel intimidated for some reason. This was a scene he was not familiar with at all.

He tightly grabbed onto the hems of Anna's robe and said meekly, "Anna… take me with you. There are too many people here!"

Anna reprimanded him, "How can you be scared of something like this?" Then, her expression softened and she added, "You're going to be a Magus soon. So chin up and stand straight!"

Adam involuntarily straightened his shoulders. "O-Okay!"

"Good boy." Anna ruffled his raven hair. "Now stay here, I'll be right back."

Adam saw the woman enter a tavern. It was still the wee hours of the morning, and he couldn't help but wonder, Drinking this early in the morning? Is she a drunkard? How can someone drink in the morning?

He then shook his head and shifted his attention to the scenery in front of him - wide roads, tall buildings, hawkers shouting out their wares, it was a place bustling with people. No doubt, it was a novel experience for him.

Meanwhile, Anna entered the tavern and looked around. Most of the tables were empty since it was still early in the morning.

Her gaze then landed on a group of Magi sitting in a corner, having breakfast. The people inside the tavern were instinctively avoiding them.

Why wouldn't they? They were wearing the cloaks with the four-leafed clover insignia, after all. They were Magi from the prestigious Clover Academy!

Found you! Anna made her way toward that table. She was wearing a baggy cloak and the hood was covering her face. Her face was barely visible in the shadows of the hood.

She took calm strides and finally arrived before the group. Before any of them could speak a word, she had already taken a seat.

The three Magi—two men and one woman—immediately frowned at this development. The woman with silver hair and cyan eyes muttered in displeasure, "You, where do you think you're sitting—"

However, Anna coldly interrupted her, "Silence."

The silver-haired woman was infuriated. She was about to get up from her seat and show Anna her place, but right at that moment, one of the two men sitting with her, a man with blond hair and blue eyes, gestured for her to stop, "Calm down, Kelley," he said.

He then looked at Anna and displayed a faint smile. "Miss, are you perhaps a Magus?"

Kelley was slightly taken aback by this question, and so was the third person in their group, a burly man named Ivan. They suddenly felt that Anna being a Magus made sense.

After all, no mortal in their right mind would talk so rudely to a person donning the insignia of the Clover Academy.

But even if the other person was a Magus, this didn't give them the right to speak in such a manner to someone belonging to the greatest arcane institute in the Southern Federation.

The blond Magus, Alex, displayed the same smile on his face, but his eyes had narrowed and were gleaming with a dangerous light. "You do know we're Magi from the Clover Academy, don't you?"

Anna scoffed, "Pathetic weaklings such as you are the cockiest."

"You—" This time, it was Ivan who spoke up. He was almost about to attack Anna but was interrupted.

"That's enough," Anna coldly muttered, her hand rising in a fluid motion as she performed a simple hand seal.

Rank 2 Spell: Compel!

An imperceptible wave of energy radiated from her, instantly drowning the three Mana Foundation Magi. Their eyes glazed over and a dreamy expression enveloped their face.

Anna spoke authoritatively, leaving no room for disobedience, "In a few minutes, a boy named Adam Constantine will enter through that door. You will take him to Moon City with the rest of the children.

"His documents have already been taken care of, and his identity as a resident of Behal Town has personally been authenticated by you three. Understood?"

"Understood…" the three Magi replied mechanically.

Anna paused for a moment before issuing another command, "No matter what danger befalls the traveling party on your way to Moon City, you will make sure to protect Adam Constantine. However, do not make it too conspicuous. Understood?"

"Understood…" The three nodded.

Anna concluded, "You will forget ever meeting me here. Understood?"

"Understood…"

Finally, the princess stood up from her seat, the effects of her spell still remaining active. She glanced at Alex and spoke with utter disdain, "If it were any other time, I would have burned you alive for daring to threaten me."

With that said, she turned around and left the establishment. Little did she know, that years later these three Magi would die as a result of Adam's machinations.

Especially, Alex, the one who just tried to threaten her. He would die the most gruesome death out of them all.

Anna exited the tavern and found that Adam was standing right outside the doors, looking around with a mixture of curiosity and anxiousness. Her ruthless and intimidating aura from earlier had already vanished, replaced by a feeling of bittersweetness.

"Adam," she softly called out.

"You're here!" Adam turned to look at her with bright eyes. "I was getting worried!"

Anna's lips quivered and her eyes reddened ever so slightly. She knelt on one knee and gently touched the boy's cheek.

"Adam… it's time."
