"Why is Brother Daiyu looking at that fool?" 

"Don't tell me that after getting his mating ceremony broken, he is shocked to the point that he is actually choosing that fool?"

"Oh, my goddess! That won't do. Ruan Chanchan is a fool; if she mates with Brother Daiyu, I am worried that their child will also turn out to be a fool." 

Ruan Chanchan listened to the gossiping beastmen and pursed her lips. Could someone ask her as well whether she wanted to mate with this mer or not, before looking down on her? Yes, she admitted that Xie Daiyu was really beautiful, but this mer was dangerous. 

He threw a woman from the cliff; if she made him mad, wouldn't he kill her too? 

No, that wasn't the point. The most important point was, why did this mer come looking for her? Don't tell her that this mer wanted to question her about last night. 

As soon as she thought about the things that had happened last night, Ruan Chanchan suddenly became nervous. She was not scared of death; she had died more than six times, but she was yet to get used to the pain. Not to mention, bears actually skinned their prey alive before killing them.

"For you," Xie Daiyu raised the fish in his hand and dumped it in the arms of Ruan Chanchan, whose entire face went slack. She looked at him with a confused expression. How could she not? She had been expecting this mer to kill her, but suddenly he dropped a large fish into her hands. 

If the killer who was supposed to murder her in an attempt to silence her suddenly brought her a gift, what else was she supposed to do other than look at him dumbly? 

So she did just that. Ruan Chanchan stared at Xie Daiyu dumbly. 

"Oooh! Don't tell me, Xie Daiyu really wants to mate with Ruan Chanchan?" 

Ruan Chanchan wanted to say that the mer was wrong, but she couldn't. Because she was a fool. How was a fool supposed to defend herself? Suddenly, Ruan Chanchan had a feeling that she might have picked up a stone and dropped it on her foot. 

However, while she was panicking, Xie Daiyu remained unbothered. After all, this was not the first time something like this had happened. He was quite popular in the tribe; thus, the mers often talked about him. As long as he said a few words to a female, they would start gossiping. 

Thus, he didn't think too much about it. 

Ruan Chanchan and Ruan Zeqiu were not as calm. After all, as soon as Xie Daiyu walked away, the members of the tribe surrounded them and started questioning Ruan Zeqiu about Ruan Chanchan's entanglement with Xie Daiyu. 

"It seems like you are going to live a good life, Zeqiu." 

"Good for you, Zeqiu." 

"Your sister made you proud, Zeqiu." 

"It seems like you will soon be free of this burden, Zeqiu." 

Though they were saying good words, Ruan Zeqiu knew that they were all mocking him. He pursed his lips and said angrily, "My sister is not a burden, and Brother Daiyu didn't mean anything. He just handed this fish to my sister because she was almost smashed to a pulp when he was fighting with Shao Xia and fell sick." 

As he spoke, he showed the medicine bag that Priestess Yuan gave to him. He was now glad that he had brought his sister to the priestess, or else these people would have made it impossible for his sister to live in peace. 

Only then did the tribe members give it a rest. 

Once they walked away, Ruan Zeqiu dragged his sister away from the dining area and brought her back to the cave dwelling. 

He turned to look at Ruan Chanchan the second they arrived at the cave and questioned, "Sister, did you meet with Brother Daiyu?" 

Ruan Chanchan wanted to tell the truth, but then she thought about it and blinked her eyes innocently. She had no choice; after all, she was just an idiot. What could she do? 

If she said that she met with Xie Daiyu, then she would have to confess everything; she couldn't do that! 

Seeing that his sister was looking at him without understanding, Ruan Zeqiu raised his hand and pressed it against his forehead. He then said to Ruan Chanchan, "Sister, Brother Daiyu is a really scary person. He is nice when he is in a good mood, but did you see how he threw Shao Xia yesterday? When he is angry, he doesn't see anything or anyone. He is really pampered and not a good match for a woman. So you stay away from him, okay?" 

Ruan Zeqiu was worried that if his sister was really targeted by Xie Daiyu, she would be bullied every day. Xie Daiyu was an arrogant mer and never put anyone in his eyes. He believed that a woman was all about strength and power. 

Only those who were the strongest warriors in the tribe were allowed to talk to Xie Daiyu; as for the rest?

He didn't even look at the women who were weak. 

Thus, the fact that he brought two fish and even gave them to Ruan Chanchan terrified Ruan Zeqiu. 

Don't tell him that Xie Daiyu thought that Ruan Chanchan was easy to bully and decided to target her. This wouldn't do. Even if they didn't have parents, his sister deserved a good mer who would care for her and not bully her. 

Ruan Chanchan nodded. She inwardly agreed with Ruan Zeqiu. 

Though Xie Daiyu was good-looking, his temper was really bad, and he looked wilful. She wasn't good with such a person. Thus, she decided it was good to stay away from him.

"What are you doing?" Ruan Chanchan asked, as she really couldn't believe the audacity of this mer called Xie Daiyu. She was determined to be a good girl and stay in the cave, but who would have thought that Xie Daiyu would actually come to look for her and even kidnap her?
