Guide To Train My Beast Husbands

Chapter 8: Sneaking Out for A Midnight Snack

Ruan Chanchan patted the little mer on the back and hummed lightly when she saw him stirring in his sleep. It took her two good hours to calm this mer down. Though Ruan Zeqiu did not say anything, Ruan Chanchan knew what he was worried about.

However, as heartbroken as she was because of his cries, she was also selfish somewhere. Ruan Chanchan couldn't help it. She had been betrayed too many times, and she had learned her lessons. She was not going to give away one of her cards before she was sure that everything was fine.

And that she was going to be alright.

Maybe she was selfish for doing so, but she still kept this matter hidden for the time being.

She waited until Ruan Zeqiu was in a deep sleep and then got up from the floor. First, she went to look for the small stone bowl that was used to keep the container and took out a packet of salt. She didn't take out the fine salt and instead took out the rock salt that the people of this tribe used and added a few crystals to the bowl.

She filled it until it was neither too full nor too empty. Ruan Chanchan was worried that if the bowl was filled to the brim, that old mer would take it away. It was better to pretend that they were poor to avoid trouble. Not to mention, Ruan Zeqiu would start feeling doubtful.

"I think this is enough," Ruan Chanchan muttered as she looked at the half-filled bowl and nodded to herself. She then placed the packet of rock salt in her space and turned to look for a stone bowl.

If her memory served her correctly, then Ruan Zeqiu used that bowl to store beast blood. The mer, for some reason, liked to drink the beast's blood when he was sick.

Though Ruan Chanchan could not understand his peculiar habits, she was not going to stop him as long as he didn't ask her to drink it with him.

After searching for half an hour, Ruan Chanchan finally found what she was looking for. She looked at the giant stone bowl and smiled in satisfaction, but her smile soon turned to dust when she picked it up.

Maybe it was because this body was too weak or the stone bowl was too big; it almost cracked her waist. Fortunately, she was already prepared, or else Ruan Chanchan was worried that she would have gone to heaven once again.

She got to her feet with the heavy stone bowl and somehow staggered out of the cave while walking like a penguin. She hoped that no one would see her, or else they would attack her, thinking that she was a new kind of animal.

Xie Daiyu stepped out of his cave feeling slightly annoyed. His daddy had gotten more and more repetitive with his demands these days. At first, he was chattering about the mating ceremony, but now he was worried about who was going to imprint on Xie Daiyu.

Every day, his father would nag him to go and talk with Shao Xia.

Xie Daiyu was sure that if not for the fact that his mother had stated clearly that she wouldn't allow Shao Xia to mate with him, his father would have run to the Shao family cave and demanded that Shao Xia continue with the mating ceremony.

Like he would let her!

He already told her that he did not care how many mers she had after him, but she had to give him the title of the official husband. Back then, she agreed, but then the woman went back on her word and refused. It was too much!

Xie Daiyu was not someone who would beg a woman to stay; thus, he broke the mating ceremony on the spot when the woman went back on her promise and wanted him to mate with her as her concubine.

He was the son of the leader of the tribe; why should he mate with a woman as a concubine? That too for a fox who only knew how to act as a seducer all day long.

"You—"

Seeing his son march out of the cave, Daddy Xie was really angry, but he was stopped by Mother Xie, who raised her hand and said to him, "Enough. How many times have I told you that there is no need for you to be in such a desperate hurry? No matter what, our son is not someone who needs to bow his head in front of Shao Xia."

"That woman wants him to become her concubine. Do you really want to see your son lowering his head in front of a small fox?"

"Of course I don't!" Daddy Xie was also angry when he thought about how his son was abandoned by Shao Xia, and he hated that woman just as much. "She is the only decent warrior in the tribe; if the two of them mate, then they will give birth to strong cubs. Will we still need to fear the snake and eagle tribes then?"

"Our son is not some small beast that we need to hand over in exchange for getting strong warrior cubs." Mother Xie glared at her husband and stated, "He is a strong beast mer, himself. Sooner or later, he will find someone he wants to mate with; there is no need for you to worry about it."

Though Daddy Xie did not agree with his mate, what else could he do other than acknowledge her decision when she was looking at him as if she wished to skin him alive?

Xie Daiyu did not know what was going on between his parents. He headed down the river shore and climbed up the tree where he liked to hide and stare at the moon at night.

But tonight, there was something other than the moon that caught his attention.

And it was none other than the fool of the tribe, Ruan Chanchan.
