Chapter 201: Chapter 203: Reclaiming Honor
Chapter 203: Reclaiming Honor
"Tch. It's really pissing me off, watching that guy strut around our turf like he owns the place—and we can't even do anything about it…"
In the port control room of Side 7's Noah No. 1 colony satellite, a Titan officer in a black Federation military uniform glared resentfully at the white warship entering the dock.
"Eh, what's the big deal? Aren't they all Federation forces anyway?"
The controller next to him, busy managing the ship's docking, responded indifferently.
"Hah, what would you know? We Titans are different from… ah, forget it. You wouldn't understand even if I explained."
He wasn't about to lose his temper with a clueless civilian. Straightening his uniform to regain composure, the Titan officer shifted his attention back to the warship following the guidance lights into port.
"So that's the White Base… the one that made such a name for itself during the One Year War…"
A subtle smile crept onto his face.
"Just a relic of the past."
Disgusting.
On the bridge of the White Base, surrounded by the palpable hostility radiating from the port, Amuro Ray frowned.
Being newly assigned to Undertaker's White Base unit, their presence in a Titan-controlled Side 7 was far from ideal.
But they had no choice but to come.
After years of battle, the White Base's portside hull had sustained significant damage.
Unfortunately, due to the Pegasus-class's confirmed flaws in actual combat, the Federation had already halted production of the series.
Only newer vessels like the Albion and the experimental White Chaser still had usable spare parts.
The original White Base—the earliest Pegasus-class ship—had no extra parts to rely on.
And though technically the same class, even a casual glance at these ships revealed significant differences in their hull specifications.
Given these circumstances, one might call it either coincidence or fate that the colony where the White Base had previously conducted tests—Noah—still had a stockpile of compatible parts.
Sure, they could've waited for the factory to produce new parts.
But under orders from Eli, they came to this colony satellite instead—to acquire the components. The real motive was clear: they were sent to scout this fortress of Titan activity.
Side 7 had been fully converted into a Titan stronghold.
Even the Federation Parliament had approved this mission.
Although the Titans had a degree of autonomy as a special force within the Federation military, they were still technically under parliamentary control at this stage.
That's how the White Base could enter so openly.
"Feeling pleased?"
Captain Bright, having just ordered the crew to remain on second-level combat alert, turned when he heard Amuro say those unexpected words.
"Hmm? Amuro, did you sense something?"
Bright asked immediately. After all these years of fighting side by side, he was used to Amuro occasionally speaking in cryptic remarks.
"I don't know… maybe someone I know is here?"
Amuro tilted his head, puzzled.
"I see. Well, no point worrying about it. Let's disembark. Time to meet the Titans."
So saying, Captain Bright removed his helmet from the standard uniform.
Truthfully, he had no interest in negotiating with the Titans.
Back when the Titans had just formed, Bright had once collaborated with them in joint operations.
He'd led the White Base in intercepting Zeon remnants who had managed to break through the Titan blockade and escape into space from Earth's surface.
Even then, Bright had found their methods a bit reckless.
Still, he could understand it at the time—most Titan personnel then were Earth-born soldiers, and their hatred of Zeon survivors was understandable.
But after all these years, under Bask's direction, that hatred hadn't diminished. It had expanded—now encompassing the entire space-dwelling population.
This shift became especially stark after the Delaz conflict.
Even now, the Titans—still made up primarily of Earth Federation veterans—were allowing this dangerous sentiment to fester.
Amuro and Bright were met by Jamitov Hyman's trusted aide, Jamaican Daningham, the man overseeing the construction of Noah.
"So, the hull components will be delivered to you tomorrow. Until then, please keep your crew in check. This colony contains too many classified facilities—not something your people should be poking around in."
Jamaican's words were polite on the surface but carried an unmistakable air of arrogance.
In fact, within the Titans, Jamaican was considered one of the more moderate figures. He'd advocated for recruiting space-born soldiers into the Titans—not for justice, but to undermine the AEUG's influence.
There was little pleasantry exchanged between the sides. The Titans showed no intention of obstructing the parts transfer; rather, they seemed eager to expedite it—to get this unwelcome White Base out as quickly as possible.
But for Amuro's group, merely setting foot on Noah was already an unexpected gain.
They had no intention of forcing an investigation.
So after the Titans' one-sided declaration, Bright and Amuro left and returned to the port.
"…What's wrong with a man being named Kamille?!"
A shout echoed from the distance.
Amuro instinctively turned—and was met by a flash of gold he knew all too well.
"Kamille! Stop it!"
"Hey, are you insane?!"
Two women were trying to restrain a teenage boy.
From the look of things, the boy had just punched a Titan soldier right here at the port.
Amuro frowned and instinctively changed course.
"What are you doing?!"
He shouted, stopping the Titan soldier just as the man was about to kick the boy.
The soldier turned—and saw a mere Federation captain in a standard uniform.
Remembering he was a Titan lieutenant—technically entitled to the privileges of a higher rank—he regained his arrogance.
"A lowly captain thinks he can order me around?!"
The Titans' hubris was on full display.
The officer raised his hand, clearly intending to take a swing at Amuro.
Amuro immediately assumed a defensive stance.
But before he could act, a harsh voice cut through the air.
"Jerid, you idiot!"
