Chapter 1: Prologue: The Prank That Changed Everything
Reincarnation—it's a concept that's been played out in countless stories across cultures, media, and trends. From what I've read, heard, and watched, it's a common trope: you die, and then your soul gets transferred to another body in a different world, either by divine intervention, sheer willpower, or the infamous Truck-kun.
But for me? Yeah, that wasn't the case.
Wanna know why?
"BECAUSE A FRש¢ING GODDESS KILLED ME WITH HER PRANK!"
"I AM SO SORRY! I DIDN'T MEAN TO GET YOU KILLED!"
The one screaming in panic was a girl—no, a goddess—who looked around sixteen but had the mind of an overly energetic child. She wore a regal dress with golden trims and ancient symbols, something straight out of the Roman era. A glowing, crowned halo floated above her head, her long, light-blonde hair cascaded to her waist, and her ocean-blue eyes shimmered with guilt. She was fair-skinned, well-developed—anyway, the point is, she was bowing at me nonstop in different, almost comedic ways.
I sighed at her antics. She's too adorable to stay mad at, after all.
Right, introductions. My name's Kazuma—and no, I'm not that Kazuma, the one infamous for using a skill to steal women's underwear. I'm just a seventeen-year-old, 6'7" tall, scraggly raven-haired, brown-eyed, pale-brown-skinned guy who wore a white undershirt, navy-blue jeans, and black rubber shoes. Just a regular Gundam and anime fan living alone, working part-time solely to buy merchandise and Gunpla kits.
And now? I was stuck in limbo with a so-called goddess who wouldn't stop apologizing.
"Fine, fine, you're forgiven," I finally said, raising a hand to stop her.
"R-Really!?" she looked at me, still teary-eyed.
"...Yeah," I replied in my usual monotone.
Then, out of nowhere, she hugged me—tight. Like a muscleman squeezing a teddy bear.
'Gahh! She's fricking strong!' I internally screamed, struggling to breathe.
"Ca—can't—breathe!" I wheezed.
She instantly let go, letting me gasp for air. "Sorry again!" she backed away, putting some distance between us.
Sigh. "Don't worry about it. Name's Kazuma, by the way. And you?"
Her expression brightened as she wiped away her tears. She smiled—an anime-tier smile, though Komi-san still ranked number one on my list.
"I'm Ariabella, or Aria for short! I was the newly appointed Goddess of Souls. But… now I'm not." Her voice dropped in dejection.
I raised an eyebrow. "Huh?"
"Well, you see... since I accidentally got you killed, the other gods and goddesses decided that my punishment is to become mortal and be bound to your side." She looked away, cheeks tinged pink. "They also let me keep some of my divine possessions… not all, though."
I processed her words before bluntly stating, "So, you're stuck with me. And you can die like a human now. What about your powers?"
"They're mostly sealed," she admitted, "but I still have some abilities. Just… heavily limited."
My eyes widened in realization. "Wait... you heard my thoughts earlier, didn't you?"
She nodded, her face now beet red.
Sigh. This was going to be troublesome.
"So… what now?" I asked.
"Uhh… I don't know?" she tilted her head, looking equally clueless.
Seriously? No plans at all?
Then, a brilliant idea hit me. My brain kicked into high gear, drawing from all the fanfics, anime, and manga I'd consumed over the years.
"That's it!" I exclaimed, startling Aria.
"What is it, Kazuma?"
I grinned. "Have you heard of Gunpla Battles or Gundams?"
She blinked. "Ehh? No? The gods and goddesses don't usually care about human entertainment."
I smirked. Time to introduce her to peak culture.
"Alright, listen up. I need a special ability—something that lets me update, download, and buy stuff from my original world, even though I can't interact with it anymore. Think you can make something like that?"
"Hmm… it might be difficult, but I could create some kind of assistant or terminal device," she mused. "Though… do you have a vessel in mind?"
I nodded. "I do. And it's perfect for the job."
"Okay then," she approached, holding out her palm. "Close your eyes, place your hand on mine, and visualize its form, functions, and capabilities. I'll channel my power into creating it."
I followed her instructions, concentrating.
A basketball-sized orb. Lightweight but durable metal. Highly advanced technology with both canonical and speculative upgrades. A self-learning, adaptable AI. This was going to be my ultimate companion.
Then, she began to chant:
"From the connection into one's soul,
As we, Ariabella and Kazuma, bestow thee,
Thy life or death.
To become one from thee summon.
As thy creators, we grant thee birth."
A weight settled in my hand. Opening my eyes, I saw exactly what I envisioned—
A HARO model, colored yellow, with oval-shaped blue eyes.
Its flaps moved as it spoke in a cheerful female voice:
"Hello! Hello!"
Excitement surged through me. I have my own personal Haro! It felt like a father witnessing his child's first words.
Aria, meanwhile, stared in utter shock. "I-Is this some kind of golem?"
I chuckled. "Technically, yes. But actually, no. This is a Haro—a famous companion robot from the Gundam series. It can speak, understand emotions, and assist with tasks. Now, we just need to name her."
Aria thought for a moment. "How about Alina?"
I smiled. "Sounds good to me." Turning to the little AI, I said, "Alina, that's your name from now on."
"Alina, Alina! Name registered! Name registered!"
"Alina, can you download as much data as possible on Gundams and Gunpla Battles?"
"Roger, roger!"
As I turned back to Aria, I asked, "By the way, do you know about the multiverse?"
She nodded. "Yes, I've heard of it from both my realm and yours."
"Download complete! Download complete!" Alina chirped.
I grinned. "Perfect. Now, let's get down to business."
For hours, I explained Gundams, Gunpla Battles, and everything in between—history, mechanics, famous battles—helped by Alina's visual projections. By the end, Aria finally understood.
"So… your plan is to travel across different worlds and share this hobby with them?" she asked.
"Exactly!" I declared with pride. "Not just as entertainment, but as a way to train, learn, and enjoy the art of building and battling. And to make a business out of it."
Aria smiled, then stretched out her arm. A blue portal materialized before us.
"Are you sure about this?" I asked, staring at the swirling vortex.
"Of course! I have no idea where this leads, but that makes it more exciting!"
With Alina in my arms and Aria by my side, I took a deep breath.
So… this is how my new life as an isekai protagonist begins.
Sigh.
And with that, we stepped into the unknown.
