Haikyuu : The Unstoppable Force

Chapter 237: Chapter 237 : Training Camp (2)

But even in such an embarrassing situation, these newly discovered left-handed players were not given up on.

Because everyone gradually realized that even if they couldn't reach the level of Wakatoshi Ushijima, these left-handed players still had a certain advantage over the average player!

Due to their rarity, that unique left-handed power spike can still leave many opponents defenseless!

After the storm at noon passed, during the afternoon training, Eikichi Chigaya really became a regular presence on the court.

Although his attacks weren't as overpowering as Ushijima's, he had his own characteristics and strength!

It was clear that with hard training in the future, he could very well become Shinzen High's next trump card!!

Creak!

With the final whistle, the afternoon's rotation training match came to an end!

On the first day at the training camp, everyone was still in the adaptation phase.

So, there hadn't been any particularly intense games yet!

But tomorrow—that would change.

...

"Hey! Why don't you come and practice spiking??"

After training ended, Akira was walking along the path outside the gymnasium when he suddenly heard a voice call out to him!

"Oh?"

He turned his head and saw that it was Bokuto and Kuroo who had just spoken.

The two were standing at the entrance of Shinzen's Second Gymnasium, smiling in his direction!

"I've seen you do self-directed training a lot, right? Akira?"

"Wanna join us? This gym stays open later than the others!"

"Alright!"

Hearing this, Akira smiled in surprise and started walking over.

He had just been looking for an open gym—he didn't expect to run into them here.

"Hey! Tsukishima!"

Just as Akira took two steps, Kuroo called out again:

"Wanna join us too??"

"Come practice blocking!"

Akira turned his head to see Tsukishima walking by and being stopped by Kuroo.

"Nope."

"Training's over for today."

"I'm going back to rest."

Tsukishima simply smiled, waved, and headed in the direction of the dorms.

"Oh?"

After he left, Kuroo scratched his head and said, a bit puzzled, "Tsukishima doesn't usually join these self-training sessions, huh?"

"It was the same last time at school," Akira said thoughtfully, now standing at the gym entrance, watching Tsukishima's back.

"He seems to have a bit of a mental block, doesn't he?"

"Really?" Bokuto looked surprised.

"No wonder he's always like this??"

"I thought he just didn't like volleyball?"

"That's not it!"

Akira shook his head with a smile.

"Tsukishima does like volleyball."

"Also, when I was in Tokyo, I often saw his brother coming to talk to him."

"Maybe in a couple of days, he'll come around!"

...

"Geez!"

"You trained again today!"

Seeing Akira walking back from the gym, Kiyoko quickly approached him and handed him a bottle of water, unable to help but comment:

"Don't push yourself too hard!"

"Haha!"

Akira smiled and took the bottle from her.

"It's more fun fighting it out in the evenings!"

"What about you? Why are you out here? Shouldn't you be resting?"

It was nearly lights-out, and Akira didn't expect to see Kiyoko still outside.

"I went to look for you earlier, but you weren't in your room!"

Kiyoko turned and walked with Akira toward the dorms.

He had to admit—the climate here was incredibly pleasant.

They strolled together on the brown marble path, moonlight filtering through the forest canopy on either side, casting shadows across the ground.

Now and then, the crisp chirp of cicadas broke the stillness of the night.

"So you figured it out?"

Akira looked at Kiyoko beside him, amused.

"Yup!"

Kiyoko said proudly:

"I guessed you'd be in the gym, so I came out to look—and just happened to run into you!"

Seeing her innocent, smiling face, Akira couldn't help but freeze for a moment.

In that instant, he recalled the summer from a year ago.

In the courtyard of his house, the same girl stood before the old wooden door, pushing it open with a smile.

....

"Huh?"

"What are you thinking about?"

He snapped out of it to see Kiyoko frowning slightly, waving her hand in front of his face.

"Haha!"

"Nothing!"

"You're just so beautiful that I got distracted for a second!"

Akira laughed and put his arm around her waist, and the two walked off toward the dorms together.

"Hmph!"

"Smooth talker!"

...

And that's exactly what happened.

When Kuroo invited Tsukishima again the next day to join their self-training, he readily agreed.

Truth be told, compared to experienced players like Kuroo and Bokuto, Tsukishima still had a lot to learn when it came to blocking.

Even Akira picked up a lot from these upperclassmen.

And Bokuto, Kuroo, and the others were just as inspired.

They saw potential for growth in Akira and the others.

It was incredibly motivating.

The whole point of training was to push each other to improve!

And after those intense training matches every day, it felt great to have time to share, reflect, and grow together!!

That was something Kuroo understood well.

Among those who improved the most were Tsukishima and the others.
