Chapter 17: Don't Get Used To Me

"Don't Get Used to Me"

Don't get habitual of me—

my talks, my smile, my stare,

My voice in the dark,

my scent in the air.

Don't fall for my laugh,

or the way I lean in,

My whispers at midnight,

my barely-there grin.

Don't crave my touch,

my presence, my tease,

The way I flirt

or comfort with ease.

Don't get attached

to the silence I bring,

To my pickup lines

and my teasing zing.

Because I don't stay—

I was never meant to.

So stop searching my shadow

in everyone new.

They all get hooked,

but none of them see—

I'm not a habit…

I'm an addiction you'll never be free.
