Hallow Throne

Chapter 18: Dungeon

The Grandmaster said , "You've got me there, Lucifer."

Lucifer responded with a hint of seriousness, "Grandmaster, please, let's be serious."

The Acting Grandmaster chimed in, "Sir, we can't afford to joke around. Please take this seriously."

The Grandmaster continued, shifting the focus of the meeting, "Now, onto the second part of this meeting. North of the capital, a dungeon has emerged. According to historical records, it's teeming with demonic beasts, elementals, and guardians. At its core lies an orb, and from what we know, that orb is a mausoleum of endless shadows."

Lucifer deduced, "So someone used a forbidden spell to seal themselves and something else inside that orb. Grandmaster, do we know who and what are sealed inside the orb?"

Lucifer expressed his disbelief, "What? A breach in the gates of the underworld? How? No devil from the underworld should have escaped in the last 5,000 years."

The Grandmaster clarified, "According to the records, this devil escaped 200 years ago, and the one who sealed it was a knight named Malisia al Faust Zecres, the 19th Grandmaster of our nation."

Lucifer connected the dots, "That explains why the 19th Grandmaster mysteriously disappeared, and the dungeon was constructed to prevent the mausoleum from being taken."

Malacor suggested, "If there's a high-ranking devil sealed inside the dungeon, should one or two of us captains take care of it?"

Lucifer replied, "Our knights are more than capable, but who do we send?"

Licht voiced his preference, "I'd like to send Roy Vaude for this mission."

Laurein countered, "I'd prefer to send Iris, our Vice Captain."

Lucifer made his choice, "I'd also like to send Astrea."

Licht couldn't hide his annoyance at Laurein's decision. Lucifer continued, "I'd also nominate Klaus."

Lucius chimed in, "I'd like to send Aaoi, one of our elites."

The Grandmaster commended their choices, "Excellent selections. But I have one more knight in mind."

Everyone was curious, "Who?"

The Grandmaster revealed, "Lumos Sakib."

The Acting Grandmaster protested, "Sir, you can't be serious."

The Grandmaster affirmed, "I am."

Lucifer backed the decision, "Sir, I'm sorry, but I must object. Lumos Sakib is one of our best healers, and he's currently deployed for Project Grinberryal."

Licht voiced his concerns, "We're against this, sir."

Malacor argued, "Project Grinberryal is a waste of time. We've spent 15 years on it, and it still isn't activating. We're wasting one of our best on a lost cause."

Lucifer remained resolute, "Not even in the slightest. I will continue to believe in it."

Alysa added her perspective, "Even though Project Grinberryal isn't activating, and we don't know when she will awaken, it's a project we should handle with care."

The Grandmaster explained his decision, "Lucifer, I'm sending Lumos Sakib on this mission because it's crucial for our nation. I don't intend to undermine Project Grinberryal in any way."

Lucifer reluctantly conceded, "Fine, but just this once."

The Acting Grandmaster concluded, "Then I can officially declare this meeting concluded."

Lucifer proceeded to the recovery tower and greeted Astrea, "Hey Astrea, how are you doing?"

Astrea replied, "Hello, sir. My bones are fixed now."

Lucifer nodded, "That's great. But could you please give me and Sakib a moment to talk, kid? See you."

Astrea agreed, "Yes, sir."

Lucifer turned to Sakib, "Sakib, what's the progress on Project Grinberryal?"

Sakib sighed, "Same as last time. Perfectly healed for the last 15 years, yet no sign of awakening."

Lucifer then revealed the mission details, "The Grandmaster has decided to send you on a dungeon mission, to be precise."

Sakib acknowledged, "So I will have to step away from Project Grinberryal."

Lucifer emphasized, "Yes, and whatever happens, come back alive. You are one of the key members for the success of Project Grinberryal. Without you, we won't be able to activate it."

Sakib nodded with determination, and they sealed their agreement with a fist pump.
