Harry Potter and The Game of Eternity

Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Defying Fate

Quest Update:

[The Broken Prophecy]

• Prophecy Uncovered: "One shall fall so the other may ascend."

• Current Status: Draco Malfoy is critically wounded.

• New Objective: Save Draco's life or let fate take its course.

• Difficulty: Legendary

• Time Limit: Urgent

The Edge of Death

Draco Malfoy lay motionless on the cold stone floor, his skin ashen, his breath ragged. The wound inflicted by the Lords of Magic pulsed with dark energy, spreading like a spiderweb across his body.

Harry knelt beside him, shaking.

"No," he muttered. "You're not dying, Malfoy. Not today."

His Gamer System was flashing violently.

ALERT: ALLY DYING.

• Curse Type: Forbidden Magic

• Standard Healing: Ineffective

• Immediate Solution Required!

Harry's mind raced.

Draco's eyes flickered open, barely conscious. His voice was weak, a whisper.

"Potter… just go."

Harry ignored him.

He had already lost too many people to fate.

He refused to lose another.

Breaking the Rules of Magic

The problem was the curse.

The Lords of Magic hadn't just injured Draco. They had marked him, tying his life to their will.

No ordinary healing magic would work.

That meant only one option remained.

Harry's hands tightened around the Staff of the First Archmage.

If normal magic wouldn't work…

He would use the magic that was never meant to exist.

His Gamer System pulsed with a warning.

WARNING: You are attempting a Forbidden Act!

• Resurrecting a marked soul is a direct violation of magical law.

• Consequences unknown.

• Do you wish to proceed?

• YES / NO

Harry didn't hesitate.

YES.

A Gamble Against the Universe

The moment Harry made his choice, magic surged through him, raw and unstable.

The Staff of the First Archmage reacted, glowing black and violet, runes along its surface shifting.

Ancient voices whispered in a language long forgotten, warning him.

But Harry didn't listen.

He slammed the staff into the ground and channeled everything into a single, desperate act:

"I call upon the magic before the Laws! Return what was stolen!"

A blast of energy erupted from the staff, wrapping around Draco's body, forcing the darkness of the curse back.

Draco screamed as the magic fought to keep him.

The room trembled.

Harry poured everything into the spell, feeling reality itself bending around him.

Then—

With a final pulse, the dark curse shattered.

Draco gasped, his back arching as his body convulsed—

And then he breathed.

Harry collapsed beside him, chest heaving, his limbs trembling.

He had done it.

He had defied fate.

His Gamer System flashed.

New Skill Unlocked: [Reversal of Fate] (Lv. 1)

• You have succeeded in breaking the chains of death itself.

• Effect: Allows you to defy fatal outcomes once per individual.

• Warning: Using this skill weakens the boundaries of magic itself.

Harry let out a breathless laugh.

He had rewritten a destiny that wasn't meant to be changed.

And the Lords of Magic would know it.

The Consequences

Draco groaned, rubbing his head as he sat up.

"What… the hell did you do?" he muttered.

Harry smirked, exhaustion evident in his eyes. "Saved your life. You're welcome."

Draco gave him a long, unreadable look before sighing. "Next time, just let me die."

Harry rolled his eyes. "Not happening."

Before Draco could argue, the room shuddered.

And then—

A crack appeared in reality.

Harry's Gamer System flashed red.

ALERT: THE BALANCE HAS BEEN DISRUPTED.

• Warning: You have done what should not be possible.

• The Lords of Magic have taken notice.

The air grew cold, and suddenly—

They were no longer alone.

The Lords' Fury

A portal of black mist tore open, and through it stepped a figure clad in flowing dark robes, their mask shaped like a dragon's skull.

Not an enforcer.

Not a Watcher.

One of the Lords themselves.

Their presence was overwhelming, the sheer weight of their magic pressing down like a tidal wave.

They raised a hand.

"You have broken the rules, child."

Their voice was not loud, but it shook the air.

"You have defied the order of the world."

Harry didn't flinch.

"You mean I didn't let someone die for your so-called 'balance'?" His voice was sharp, defiant. "Yeah. I did. And I'd do it again."

The Lord of Magic tilted their head, as if studying a curious anomaly.

"Then you are a threat to the foundation of everything."

Draco swore under his breath. "Great. Now they actually want you dead."

Harry's grip on his staff tightened.

"Then let them try."

The Lord raised a single finger.

The room shattered.

Boss Battle Initiated:

[Lord of the Fractured Order]

• Threat Level: LEGENDARY

• Objective: Survive the Judgment of the Lords.

• Secondary Objective: Escape with Draco alive.

The Fight for Survival

The Lord moved faster than anything Harry had ever seen.

With a mere flick of their wrist, the air itself warped, sending a shockwave of magic that nearly crushed him.

Harry barely managed to cast [Arcane Barrier], but even then, he was flung backward, his body slamming into stone.

Draco barely dodged in time, firing a blasting hex that the Lord deflected with a mere thought.

"Any more brilliant ideas, Potter?!" Draco yelled.

Harry wiped blood from his mouth. "Yeah—don't die!"

He raised the Staff of the First Archmage, channeling every ounce of power he had.

"You want to erase me? Try it."

The Lord flicked their hand, summoning chains of black light that shot toward Harry.

Harry countered.

With a roar, he unleashed [Void Nova], sending a massive explosion of raw energy through the chamber.

The impact shook the entire plane of reality.

And for the first time—

The Lord of Magic staggered.

They felt that.

Harry smirked. "Not so untouchable, are you?"

The Lord straightened. Their mask cracked slightly.

For the first time, they sounded… amused.

"You are unlike the others."

Harry didn't lower his stance. "Yeah? What gave it away?"

The Lord raised a hand. Reality twisted again.

"Then let's see if you can survive what comes next."

The air split apart—and something else began to emerge.

Something older than the Lords of Magic themselves.

Harry's Gamer System went wild.

WARNING: ENTITY BEYOND CLASSIFICATION DETECTED.

• Threat Level: ???

• Survival Rate: 1%

Draco swore loudly. "Potter, tell me you have another trick up your sleeve."

Harry's knuckles whitened around the staff.

"Working on it."
