Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Revenge and Healing
Two weeks later, Azkaban.
Narcissa Malfoy felt shivers as she walked down a corridor in Azkaban. Behind her, two guards followed her, watching her every move. The presence of Dementors was evident within the cold, desolate prison.
The woman married to Lucius Malfoy stopped when she finally saw her husband inside one of the several cells. She contorted her face slightly, not knowing what expression to put on at Lucius' state. The man no longer wore expensive clothes, but a black and white prisoner's outfit. His previous presence and pride was nowhere to be seen. And when she raised her head at the noise that had come in front of her cell, her clear eyes showed a hint of hope.
"Narcissa..."
"Lucius," she murmured before closing her eyes and letting out a painful sigh.
"Are you happy, Lucius? Your plans... Your fantasies brought you here. Do you even realize how much harm you've caused?"
Lucius hunched his back a little and placed his forearm on one of his knees as he sat on the floor.
"So that's why you came here, to mock me? Or is this just your way of telling me that I was wrong and that you were right?"
"The Malfoy family is finished."
"There's still Draco. And if he remembers the things I taught him, then he'll be fine."
Narcissa snorted, showing her annoyance and displeasure.
"You're right about one thing. Draco is still around. But he's not following your teachings. And that brings me relief, Lucius. You don't know how relieved I feel when I see my son not following in your footsteps."
"Although I also have to thank Harry Potter for that. If it wasn't for him, then you would have found us when you were looking for us. And I also have to thank him for helping Draco get closer to the youngest of the Greengrass."
"Potter?..." Lucius frowned and looked at Narcissa with confusion clear in his eyes. "What do you mean? Potter helped them? And Greengrass?... You really let him get close to that progressive family to the point that they look like blood traitors. You wouldn't do something like that, Narcissa!"
"Why not? Why don't you want to?" Narcissa clenched her fists and moved a little closer to the bars of the cell.
"After everything you've done, you still have the nerve to talk like you have power and right to things. Let me give you a reality check, Lucius. You are no longer Lord Malfoy. You are no longer my husband. You are no longer the father of my child. You... you are nothing more than a prisoner."
"You will rot to death in this place. Alone. With no one by your side."
"The Dark Lord will get me out of this damn hole," Lucius said with determination. "I will get my revenge then and there."
Narcissa smirked at him, causing a bad feeling in the former Lord Malfoy."
"Voldemort is dead. He has been for over a week."
"You lie!" Lucius shouted angrily. He stood up and walked slowly to the bars of his cell, standing face to face with Narcissa.
"He cannot die. Even as damaged as he was, he will return. Lord Voldemort is immortal."
"The Horcruxes, I heard about those things. But they were all destroyed. Harry Potter finished them off, as well as Voldemort. The end of that monster was not shown to the public, but I was lucky enough to see the memory. They cut off his head, Lucius. He was so weak, kneeling in front of Harry Potter. He could do nothing but watch as they killed him."
"Impossible... That can't be possible."
Lucius grabbed the bars, growled, and shouted, "It's got to be a lie from you! A bloody lie to piss me off! To humiliate me!"
Narcissa just grabbed a small pouch from around her neck and pulled out a newspaper before throwing it into the cell.
Lucius looked down, seeing the big words on the front page. Dark Lord Defeated! That's what it said.
"Fudge was removed from his post five days ago. Your friends, the Death Eaters, were all captured and most of them thrown through the veil. In fact, the same thing would have happened to you if it weren't for me."
"If... it weren't... for you?" Lucius muttered slowly. His head snapped up and he glared at Narcissa.
"I'll be here for years! Years, Narcissa! And you still dare to talk like you've done me a favor?"
"It seems you still believe you can get out of here," Narcissa said coldly.
"I will explain so a fool like you can understand. You will not get out. You will not be released, you will live here until you die."
"If it were up to Madame Bones alone, you would have been thrown into the veil. But when I finished giving her all the information about your movements and plans they had, I asked her to place you here to rot. To suffer until you die."
Narcissa stepped forward and her cold eyes locked on Lucius's.
"This is my revenge, Lucius. You killed members of my family and were partly to blame in the decline of the Blacks. But most of all, you were almost the downfall of my son. Cry. Suffer. Beg and wallow in desolation. In the end, no one will save you. No one will reach out their hand to a worm like you."
Narcissa said nothing more. She turned around and started walking out of Azkaban prison.
"Narcissa!" Lucius shouted angrily, but his scream sounded more like desperation.
"Come back here, Narcissa! COME BACK!!"
Lucius Malfoy's screams echoed throughout the hallway. But even so, Narcissa didn't stop for a second, and she didn't look back either. The two guards looked at each other and could see a bit of fear in each other. For the first time in their jobs, they saw a woman be so cruel to a prisoner, and she had just spoken.
. . .
"And... There it is!" Harry said with a smile.
"Already?" Astoria Greengrass asked confused. She didn't feel anything different in her body. Harry Potter had cast a spell on her, but nothing happened. Astoria blinked and when she was about to ask something, she felt a strange heat rise from her body and noticed a black mist coming out of her hands and arms. She looked at herself better and noticed the mist being expelled all over her body.
Matthew Greengrass's eyes sparkled for a moment before he walked over and moved his wand from his daughter's head to her feet. He smiled as he stood up and hugged his daughter.
"Father?"
"It's okay. It's okay. You're healthy now, you don't have to suffer anymore."
Astoria's eyes widened as tears filled her eyes. She hid her face in her father's chest as she trembled a little.
"Hey, you should comfort her now too," Harry whispered to Draco, who was beside him.
"Shut up, Potter."
"Come on, don't be shy," Harry smiled and nudged him gently with his elbow.
"I'll hex you if you come within three meters of my sister," Daphne said coldly. Draco simply snorted. He had Astoria's sister on one side, protecting the girl he liked. And on the other side, he had Harry Potter, who kept pestering him.
"Thank you very much for helping my daughter, Harry Potter," Aurea Greengrass walked over and softly thanked Harry.
"Eh... yeah, well, don't worry too much, ma'am. Besides, I'm getting something out of this too, I don't think you should thank me that way."
Aurea nodded and said, "You're right, but you're still the one who saved my daughter. I have to thank you."
"My wife is right, Mr. Potter," Matthew said seriously, moving away from his daughter a little.
"Now, though, I have another favor to ask of you."
"Eh?" Harry was a little surprised.
Matthew frowned a little.
"You should know that blood curses can be passed down through generations. Sometimes they appear in one, but perhaps not in the next. Sadly, for our generation, we have two affected."
Harry looked at Daphne seriously.
"No, it's not my dear Daphne," Auera said immediately. "It's my niece. The daughter of Gareth Greengrass, who is my husband's younger brother."
"Your ancestor had to deeply screw the one who cast the curse. Do you know what he did exactly?"
Matthew coughed with a bit of discomfort.
"That... is not something I like to talk about."
Harry stared at him blankly.
"Damn it. Knowing what people were like hundreds of years ago, it's possible that your ancestor had some kind of affair with a committed woman."
"Can you help my brother?" Matthew asked, ignoring Harry's words.
"Then I'm not that far from the truth," Harry thought with amusement.
"Fine. You can do it. I'll help your brother and his daughter."
"Thank you," Matthew smiled before bowing slightly with his hand on his chest.
"Where do I have to go?"
"We'll take you. Cereus' curse is more severe than Astoria's, so she has to stay in St. Mungos from time to time."
Harry simply nodded.
. . .
"Thank you, thank you, thank you! Thank you so much!"
Harry didn't know how to react to the girl's encouragement. After Cereus noticed that she was completely healed, he jumped on Harry, trapping him with his arms and legs in a big hug.
Harry could clearly feel certain parts of Cereus' body, so he felt a little strange. All he could do was pat the girl on the back a few times.
"You're welcome... ahm... can you come down?"
Cereus pulled away and climbed off Harry's body with a big smile.
"I'm so sorry, Harry Potter. I'm really happy right now."
"I imagine."
"Uncle, you have to help me surprise Dad."
"Of course. Gareth will be very happy with the news," Matthew smiled warmly at his niece.
"Sorry for interrupting, but I have a question."
"Yes?"
"Was it okay to leave Astoria with Draco?"
Daphne immediately came over and grabbed Harry by the collar of his shirt.
"What do you mean by that, Potter?"
"Oh, dear. You don't seem to have noticed."
Daphne's eyes widened at being called dear. But she immediately narrowed them.
"Talk."
Harry smiled tightly at her.
"Astoria clearly knew of Draco's feelings. That girl wasn't even surprised when she saw Draco enter her house by the Floo. And from what Draco has told me, they have barely spoken. It was clearly a lie."
"There's no need to worry. I already knew of Draco's intentions. Astoria and he spoke to me personally. Draco knows that Astoria may still be a little young for a real relationship."
"What?" Daphne turned her head to look at her father in surprise, though she didn't let go of Harry.
"Heh... a father will always think the best of his children. But you forget that Astoria is a woman, and a Slytherin at that. Cunning and intelligence are part of her. And perseverance and ambition are not things to be underestimated."
"Hehehe..."
"Listen, Potter. My sister is not..."
"Your sister is in love," Harry interrupted her. "And Draco, as smart as he is, sucks at love. He'll fall in minutes."
"Oh, poor Draco, caught up in his crush's wiles," Harry raised his head as if he was lamenting a loved one. He wasn't. He was simply mocking Daphne.
A strange sound was heard in the room. And when everyone looked to where the sound came from, they noticed that Matthew Greengrass was no longer there.
"He just..." Harry was shocked.
"Uncle Matthew really did disappear inside St. Mungos. Is that even possible?"
"The wards aren't that strong. But still, she might come away with some minor injuries."
Aurea rolled her eyes.
"I didn't think you were such a joker, Harry Potter."
"What can I say, a good joke rejuvenates the soul."
"Was that a joke?" Daphne asked in disbelief.
"And your reaction was the best. I would have been quite interested in you if I were single. Too bad a Veela dragged me away."
"Do you want to die?"
"Can you kill me?"
"You can try."
"Enough. Don't tease my daughter too much, Harry."
Harry held up his hands, but the smile on his face didn't disappear.
"Though I admit it would have been wonderful if you were Daphne's mate."
"Mother?!"
Cereus smirked in amusement. It was the first time she saw her cousin so out of her depth.
