Harry Potter: Elemental Magic Changes the World

Chapter 18: Chapter 18

In a good mood, Hagrid and Callister had a pleasant breakfast together in the Great Hall.

Afterward, Hagrid left, and Callister made his way to the basement.

This was where Professor Snape held his classes, and it was also his office.

Speaking of Snape, one cannot ignore his tragic childhood—an unhappy family, a distorted worldview, no friends, and struggling for basic necessities.

It was a miracle that Snape managed to make it to Hogwarts, only to be sorted into Slytherin, where he faced disdain for not being pure-blooded, and despite his talents, he was never truly valued.

Moreover, he was deeply in love with Lily, but his self-esteem, combined with his interest in Dark Arts, prevented him from confessing. This led to a falling out with Lily.

Lily Evans, Harry Potter's mother, was Snape's one true love. However, fate had other plans, and he watched helplessly as the woman he loved ended up with James Potter, and later gave birth to Harry Potter.

Eventually, Voldemort learned of a prophecy and sought to kill Harry, leading to Lily's death at Voldemort's hands.

This sorrow deeply affected Snape, and thus, he developed a slight prejudice against Harry.

But Snape was also a fascinating individual.

He endured misunderstanding from everyone and quietly protected Harry Potter from the shadows.

Thus, in terms of romance, this version of Snape might be seen as a devoted lover, truly deserving of love.

"Callister, if you don't come soon, I'll come looking for you," Snape said with a smile as Callister entered his office.

Seeing Snape's smile, Callister returned a slight grin and replied, "Snape, it seems you're really looking forward to this."

It was rare to see Snape smile. Usually, he was serious, aloof, and gave off a mysterious air. But now, he was actually smiling, which was a rare sight.

In the world of Harry Potter, Snape was portrayed as a deeply devoted, somber, cold, and sharp character. A man devoted to love yet unable to express it.

"Of course. I just want to make the most of the limited time," Snape continued. "For example, discussing potionology with you in class and making sure the students gain a deeper interest in the subject."

Callister chuckled and responded, "Let's go. I'm sure they can't wait to get started."

Snape nodded, and the two of them headed to the classroom.

In the large classroom, Harry Potter and Ron sat together, with Hermione behind them.

"Harry, this is potionology again. I seriously suspect that you did something to offend Snape. He seems to be targeting you," Ron whispered as he placed his textbook on the desk.

"And I've been dragged into it too."

Harry fell silent for a moment. "I don't know. Maybe."

Harry recalled the pain from the lightning-shaped scar on his forehead when he locked eyes with Snape during the first day in the Great Hall.

On his first potionology lesson, Snape had clearly singled him out. So, Harry was also puzzled by Snape's actions.

"But you have to admit, Snape is very good at potionology. Now, we need to focus on the class, not complain," Hermione interjected, having overheard their conversation.

Meanwhile, Malfoy, who had been watching Harry, Ron, and Hermione whispering to each other, frowned slightly before smirking.

He wanted to befriend Harry Potter, but Harry wasn't making it easy.

Malfoy acknowledged Harry's parents, who were powerful wizards, but he saw Harry wasting his potential. He wanted to bring Harry to his side.

Harry should embrace the ambition that Slytherin embodied—that would be his chance to grow stronger.

Only through alliances between the powerful could one dominate the magical world.

The classroom door opened.

Snape walked in, followed by Callister.

Callister's arrival immediately captured everyone's attention.

His display of elemental magic was fascinating to them.

However, since the elemental magic course had yet to be established, they had not yet begun their lessons on it despite the start of the term.

Thankfully, the dwarves were speeding up the construction, and in a few more days, they would be able to start the elemental magic classes.

But to their surprise, Callister had appeared in their potionology class.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione exchanged excited and eager glances.

The night before, Callister had reminded them of this, and they hadn't expected him to appear in their class the next day.

"Everyone, this is Professor Callister, I'm sure you are all familiar with him," Snape said, standing at the podium and glancing at the first-year students, noting their eager and delighted expressions. His tone remained neutral.

"I invited Professor Callister today because he is also a master of potionology and has done remarkable research."

"Today, we will explore potionology in a different way, through discussion."

"Now, let us welcome Professor Callister, who will introduce a new perspective on potionology."

Callister stepped up to the podium, smiling slightly. "Good morning, everyone."

Unconsciously, Callister had uttered the phrase his teachers used to say at the start of every class in his previous life.

Saying it now, he found it amusing.

Harry, Ron, and Malfoy were momentarily stunned.

After all, this was a magic school, not the outside world, and they were somewhat unaccustomed to the formalities.

Fortunately, Hermione was quick to react, nudging Harry and Ron. She then said aloud, "Good morning, Professor Callister!"

Harry and Ron, realizing what was happening, quickly followed suit. "Good morning, Professor Callister!"

The rest of the class soon caught on, and everyone echoed, "Good morning, Professor Callister!"

Callister smiled at their politeness and said, "You're all very gentlemanly and well-mannered. I like students like you; it shows you are receiving a good education."

"Today is bound to be an interesting class. I hope you all are in a good mood and ready to learn seriously."

"Because today, you will be taught potionology by both me and Professor Snape himself."

"Potionology is a fascinating discipline. It can help you quickly replenish magical and mental energy during battle."

"It can heal your body faster than magic and give you immense power."

"Moreover, it can make you rich. Potions are incredibly expensive nowadays. If you master the art of potion-making and become skilled at brewing potions, you'll amass great wealth."

"Even more, potions can grant you immortality."

...

At this point, Callister's gaze swept over Harry and Ron, and with a meaningful smile, he said, "Mastering this subject will bring you unexpected rewards."
