Chapter 2: Death and Reincarnation II
The Rothschild family has many heirs. Mayer Amstel, the man who started the family history, placed his five sons in the five most important financial centers in Europe: Amstel in Frankfurt, Solomon in Vienna, Nathan in London, Calmann in Naples, and Jakob in Paris.
Both Edward and his father belonged to the Nathan Mayer Rothschild lineage, which was accentuated in the United Kingdom. Specifically in London and he was the man who founded the bank 'N. M. Rothschild & Sons' where Edward would go to a meeting today.
Edward despite his young age is considered the most promising heir of the five branches, thanks to the great genius that he showed from an early age, much merit of this is due to his mother, since since he was a child she began to prepare Edward.
After lunch, his tutor arrived and after that, he dressed in the suit prepared by his mother and went by limousine to the Mars family estate. The meeting lasted an hour, Edward hung out with people his age, showing a more lively and much more sociable expression.
Everyone wanted to talk to him, they saw him as some sort of leader and figure to follow, even the adults chatting with Elizabeth were talking about Edward.
However, Edward knew that everyone was interested in him because he was a Rothschild and because he was the most promising heir. They were all interests and after all, he was doing the same thing, albeit on his mother's orders.
"The limousine is ready, it will take you to the company. Behave yourself, the most important members of the board will be meeting. I'll stay a while longer talking to Mrs. Mars" Elizabeth said as she adjusted Edward's tie.
Edward said goodbye to everyone politely and headed to the limousine, Alfred was waiting for him, and when he saw him arrive he opened the limousine door respectfully.
As the limo drove through the streets of London, Edward looked out the window, at one point the car stopped at a traffic light and he noticed many boys his age coming out of a school.
The boys were chatting and laughing among themselves, some were making jokes to each other and others seemed to be talking about the funniest events that happened today. Most of all, they all seemed to be happy. Many upon seeing the limousine pointed at it in amazement, as it was rare to see one on the street.
'Friends...' thought Edward without changing his expression.
Finally, they arrived at the place, Alfred parked in a vip spot and opened the door for Edward to get out.
As he stepped out he noticed a high-rise building, composed mainly of glass and steel, giving it a modern and elegant look. The facades are clad with glass panels that allow exceptional visibility from both inside and outside.
Together with Alfred they headed to the building, many employees when they saw Edward greeted him respectfully, even though he was a 15-year-old boy he had a great status that could not be ignored. His father was already waiting for him.
The board meeting lasted about 45 minutes or so, Edward could not talk in that place, he was there to learn and gain experience about how the company works.
Internally he found it very boring, but he could not show this on his face, as it would be very rude or so he thought. As the meeting lasted less than an hour he had an incredible 15 minutes to spare before leaving again for his mansion and starting another round of studies.
Thanks to his mother not being there, he could use them to rest.
Since his father was talking to the board members about important things and Alfred was out of sight, Edward managed to sneak out of the building to get some air.
'These occasions are rare' thought Edward as he watched the people and cars coming and going. The sky was completely blue and he felt a gentle breeze on his face.
The company was located on one of the most important streets in London, so there was a lot of traffic cars and people.
The seconds passed quickly turning into minutes, it was strange that when he was studying or in important meetings the time seemed to go at a snail's pace, and now that he had free time, it passed very fast.
'2 minutes...' thought Edward as he looked at the expensive watch on his wrist.
As he looked up from his wrist he could notice a little boy, about 4 to 6 years old at the most, who was chasing a red-colored balloon without paying attention to his surroundings.
The bad thing was that the balloon reached the avenue and the traffic light was green, the child without paying attention to this stepped onto the street and continued chasing the balloon.
'¿¡What is that boy doing!?' thought Edward who without thinking twice started to run towards the boy.
The boy finally managed to grab the balloon, but he heard the loud sound of a horn, as he turned his head he noticed a huge truck that was about to run him over. His expression turned to fear, the driver's face also looked scared, but he could do nothing to avoid the boy.
When the boy was about to be run over, he felt something pushing him out of the way of the truck, it was Edward who had jumped to push the boy.
However, this caused his body to be in front of the truck, from the corner of his eye he could see how the truck hit him, he felt immense pain and his body was sent flying several meters.
The good thing was that he managed to save the boy and no more cars were approaching, the bad thing was that he was lying on the ground, seriously injured.
'Is this the end...?' thought Edward looking up at the sky, his vision was blurred and some blood was obstructing one of his eyes. At first, the pain was excruciating, but with each passing second, he felt less pain and felt as if his body was shutting down.
As his vision became blurry and his eyelids grew heavier, he could see his short life flash before his eyes as if it were a movie.
Even though he was dying, he was not sad. He was never happy, for as long as he can remember his mother controlled every day of his life to the extreme, and he never saw a sign of love from her, nor from his father, nor any of his relatives. The only thing that mattered to them was his great genius and that he was the person who would lead the family to repeat the golden age of the Rothschilds.
His life was a daily monotony, completely arranged by his family, his wishes did not matter, he was like a robot. However, he never complained, as he knew there were many people in worse situations, he could consider himself lucky, as he would never go hungry and had a place that many would wish for.
'I wonder if mother or father will be sad... I don't think so' Edward thought.
His mother like his father would be disappointed in him, as he sacrificed his life to save an ordinary child, to them the lives of ordinary people were worthless. They even considered the Mars Family as pawns, when they were millionaires and had great power, but compared to the Rothschilds they were like ants.
The only resentments he had were that he never felt love, never had real friends, never went to school, and never did fun things by his own choice, because to his family they were useless things.
Every time he rode in his limousine and saw a group of boys leaving school laughing loudly and having fun, he felt very envious.
'I indeed remember a very funny book I read a long time ago...' thought Edward as his eyelids slowly closed and his consciousness drifted further and further away from his body.
Before he closed his eyes completely he noticed a middle-aged woman near him who was crying, she seemed to be the mother of the child he saved. He thought it was worth saving the child if his mother was crying for a stranger like him.
The world around him became blurred and distant. A sense of calm and stillness enveloped him. Finally, his eyes closed completely and his consciousness left that world.
However, this was not the end. Edward felt as if he was floating in a timeless, formless space. No fear or pain, just an overwhelming serenity. As an indecipherable amount of time passed, he began to perceive a bright light in the distance.
The light is warm and friendly, like a beacon in the darkness. He unconsciously felt drawn to it and began to move toward that light.
As he moved closer to the light, the warm and welcoming feeling grew, making him want to be closer and closer to the light.
Eventually, his awareness became immersed in the light and he began to experience a feeling of weightlessness and detachment. Then, suddenly, his consciousness is drawn downward toward a point of origin. As it descends, it begins to take shape and feels as if it is being enveloped by a kind of warm cocoon. The space surrounding your consciousness fills with soft sounds and murmurs.
Finally, his consciousness takes shape in a new, fragile body. He opens his eyes in confusion and finds himself in a new and unfamiliar environment.
"What happened!?" said Edward in shock losing the composure he always had, but instead of words, only soft, halting cries emerge. His lips tremble and his cheeks blush as he makes efforts to express his astonishment, but all to no avail.
"He is a healthy and very beautiful child" said an elderly woman with Edward in her arms. On a bed lying down was a woman with a weary face.
Despite her tiredness the woman wanted to see her son at all costs, "Let me hold him in my arms" said the woman in a weak voice, but expressing longing.
"Here you go" said the old woman as she placed the baby in the woman's arms.
Edward felt the woman's presence and warmth as he lay in her arms, it was a very warm feeling.
"What will be your baby's name?" the old woman asked with a smile.
"James... James Potter" replied the woman with a smile, as she looked lovingly at her son.
