Chapter 53: Back to Gryffindor Tower
After having his 'conversation' with Albus Dumbledore, Harry returned to Gryffindor tower. When he arrived in the Gryffindor common room, it was empty. All of the students have already gone to their beds.
Except, a lady had been sitting there with an anxious face.
"Harry," Hermione said with a delighted face as she almost ran up to him. Since the common room was empty, she showed little restraint and propelled herself in Harry's arm, wrapping tightly round him.
"Hermione," Harry also smiled in response.
"What happened?" A flurry of questions burst out from Hermione's mouth. "What did the headmaster say? Will you still have to go to ministry? Were you given any punishment?"
"Relax Hermione," Harry chuckled. "Nothing serious has happened."
"Headmaster Dumbledore just advised me to maintain my composure and do not react violently," he explained. "And I won't be going to the ministry."
"Even so I must face a small kind of punishment," he added.
Relaxation washed over Hermione as she separated from Harry.
"What is the punishment?" Hermione asked with a frown.
"That will be decided by Snape," said Harry and Hermione's face fell a bit. Even so it was much better, according to her, than getting detained.
"Why did you do that Harry?" She questioned few minutes later. "And that Daphane… she had been bullied and assaulted. What is happening here?"
Harry's face took a thoughtful look as he walked and stood closer to the fire place, "Why I did that? Honestly, even I do not know that."
"The trigger was definitely because of how that Rion Walse addressed you but probably Daphne's condition had built up the rage inside me. That trio was back in the compartment to repeat the things which she had already gone through."
Hermione face turned grave, "Why do you think they would do such things to her?"
"And have she not complained? Or was it the first time?" Hermione mumbled.
Harry shrugged his shoulders, "I do not know."
"But considering how calm she had been and how she reacted... I am sure, it was not her first time," he added.
Hermione remained silent for few moments until an expression of resolve took over her face.
"Harry," she said. "Tomorrow, I will talk about this to professor McGonagall and if need be, I will speak directly to the headmaster."
"Even if Daphne is a Slytherin, I cannot close my eyes to such injustice," she concluded.
A smile appeared on Harry's face. Well getting Hermione a reality check was necessary. She was a complete ignorant through and through about the Wizarding world and how mischievously Dumbledore had covered everything with a white sheet of his greatness and kindness.
"You could do that," Harry nodded in agreement.
"Go to sleep for now," said Harry as he turned and gave a kiss on her lips.
Hermione blushed but kissed back.
"Good night, Harry," she added after which she darted away. "I love you…"
"Good night, Hermione," replied Harry but Hermione was already gone. "Love you too…"
With these thoughts, Harry walked towards his own room. He was not really willing to sleep in a sharing dorm and he had myriad of options to sleep in Hogwarts. But if he went missing from his dorm, the messenger would surely immediately carry the message to various places. And Harry hopefully wanted to keep things calm.
When Harry arrived in his dormitory, Neville Longbottom, Dean Thomas and Seamus Finnigan were already asleep. It was only Ron Weasley who had forcefully kept himself awake.
"Harry," Ron sprang up on his feet as soon Harry came in his view.
"Dad said that you broke the head of a 7th year Slytherin. Is it true?" He asked.
And as Harry had expected, Ron's expression went myriad of changes- he was not sure if he should feel disappointed as Harry had done an 'evil' deed or if he should feel happy if Harry had done that deed to a Slytherin.
"Yes Ron," Harry replied with amusement.
"Amelia Bones had wanted to arrest you but headmaster saved you," Ron said. Harry did not know if he was asking or making a statement.
"No, Ron," Harry said. "Headmaster did not do anything. Rion Walse did not chose press any charge against me."
"Yes," Ron said with conviction. "But he would not do it for nothing… he is a Slytherin."
"It was headmaster who convinced him to do so," Ron said with a finality in his tone.
Even if everything was fake in Ron's life, his hatred for Slytherin students was genuine.
"Why would you do that?" He asked immediately.
"Rion said something bad about Hermione. I got angry and lost my composure," Harry replied as he walked towards his four poster bed.
"I had not wanted to break his head… maybe a punch but I could not control my anger," finished Harry.
Definitely, Ron wanted to ask many things more but Harry cut him across, "Good night Ron."
"I am very tired and I also have to face Snape tomorrow," Harry said as he closed his bed.
"Good night Harry," Ron said reluctantly and climbed his own bed.
