Harry Potter: The art of divination

Chapter 10: Trouble in the castle -10

In a dimly lit room, Morpheus stood naked with Ash lines drawn across his body, his mind clear and eyes open wide and attentive.

As he spoke his voice did not sound normal it was as if he was possessed by a great Hunter, "Η Άρτεμις να σε ευλογεί με τη θέα του θηράματός μου" Morpheus intoned his voice deep and gravely

Before beginning the second line of the incantation Morpheus lit the bundle of Artemisa he held in his hand, "Άρτεμις δείξε μου ένα μεγάλο κυνήγι" his voice was getting deeper and deeper

Crouching to the floor holding the bundle of lit artemisa, Morpheus began to spin in a small circle, dark Smoak billowed from the herb small traces of moon silver could be seen dancing softly within.

He began to stand up slowly while still spinning in a circle, it looked almost like a small dance, his now deep and dark voice called out, "ΘΕΑ ΤΟΥ ΚΥΝΗΓΙΟΥ ΕΥΛΟΓΗΜΕΝΟΣ ΣΟΥ ΖΗΤΩ ΝΑ ΜΟΥ ΔΕΙΞΕΙΣ ΤΟ ΜΕΓΑΛΟ ΜΟΥ ΚΥΝΗΓΙ!"

FWOOM!

The herb was now fully turned into Smoak. Morpheus stood still in what seemed to be the only part of the room not covered in the deep smog. As if a barrier was keeping the magical smoak in a perfect circle around him.

The light sparks of moonlight silver that danced about began to form shapes, they depicted the image of a tall skinny man against a short child.

Suddenly the silver image of the child began to hold his head. As if he was screaming in pain. Slowly the moonlight child began to grow into a ferocious monster. As if flipping the table the tall man was suddenly the short one of the two.

The monster then charged rapidly at the man, and right before the two could clash the Smoak suddenly lit once more and began to burn destroying the images.

"Damnnit!" Morpheus hissed and waved his hand lightly

The room was now clear again.

*Morpheus*

Something outside of my expectations happened, the divination ritual did not work as well as I hoped it would.

Something interfered, usually that only happens when dealing with true demons or angels, not these pathetic blood soldiers.

What's even more confusing is the fact Mr. Note turned into a demonic giant. That should be impossible, from what I remember ingesting demon blood will only make the infected slightly superhuman with a bloodthirsty mind.

I've never seen something like that happen.

Luckily I gained some key pieces of information from this ritual. One is that whatever happened at the end brought the power of a true demon or slightly lower. The second and most important thing I learned was this isn't a normal blood ingestion.

Either the demons made some improvements or I'm dealing with something entirely new.

"Today we will be learning about a more subtle art of divination, I like to teach this in the first couple of classes because it can help with not only this class but every other class," Morpheus smiled at the students seeing their eager looks

Seeing the student's eager looks Morpheus grinned, "Dream divination has many branches and paths to take what I will be teaching you is called 'bright path dreaming'. What bright path dreaming does is help you fall asleep peacefully and enter a dream of what you the caster most want for your future,"

The student's young eyes were practically sparkling. Sadly Morpheus knew his next words would dim that sparkle.

Chuckling in a wistful almost reminiscent way Morpheus continued, "Do not under any circumstances take these pleasant dreams as an absolute future, these dreams will only show you what you most desire out of the coming day or your life. This spell was designed by a man who was depressed and struggled to do his work every day, using this spell he found motivation, something to strive for! I hope it can do the same for you all,"

"Professor, doesn't that mean this spell isn't divination? Because we aren't actually seeing any true glimpses from the future?" One girl asked carefully, Morpheus recognized her as Narcissa black

"Ms. Black, what a great question! truthfully depending on who you ask the answer will be different. However, to find an expert in this field you would need someone outside of England as this spell hasn't been seen here in a while. But, I and many divination experts would say this is a form of divination. When you learn other spells and skills among the dream branch of divination you will learn how to dissect your dreams and find tidbits of the truth that you can then weave into a larger piece of information to help guide your future,"

Narcissa and the other year 3 students seemed thoughtful before nodding their heads slightly. They were obviously still confused and needed a little bit longer to fully digest today's lesson.

*Morpheus pov*

Truthfully I taught them a watered-down and highly edited version of the original spell.

The reason why this spell has not been seen for ages in Britain is simply because it was too strong. People would fall in love with the fantasy of their dreams and never wake up. Others would take their dreams as reality and go mad when woken up believing the real world was fake.

Many years ago several masters of divination and Occlumency came together to edit this spell to make it safe for even children.

It took years of effort and teamwork but the spell was finally fixed, sadly Britain was not open to the idea of reintroducing this spell to the public.

I was not personally a part of this team of people but, I know someone that was. I'm not a team player sometimes.

As I left my room and started to head toward the great hall for dinner I heard a loud commotion, intrigued I headed that way.

"Expelliarmus!" A childish voice sounded followed by a bright red light

A different boy threw his body to the side narrowly dodging the spell. The boy had black hair and a crooked nose. His opponent who fired the disarming charm had shaggy hair and wore glasses.

Flicking his wand from the ground the black-haired boy intoned, "Engorgio!" suddenly the kid wearing glasses, clothes began to enlarge making him unable to cast spells properly.

"Sirius! Get snivilus!" The muffled yell of the boy shouted from behind his giant robes

"Haha!" The boy I now know is named Sirius shouted with glee as he yelled, "Incendio!"

A streak of fire shot out at the crooked nose child who was trying to get up from the floor. Seeing the fire he dodged again.

This is what Hogwarts is about! I wonder what the kid will do now.

"Umm, teacher aren't you going to do anything?" a quiet voice said beside me

".."

"Of course," I replied stiffly I forgot this wasn't the old ages anymore. Interesting stuff like this is now prohibited.

Flicking my hand I summoned the troublemaker's wands.

"Tsk tsk tsk, fighting in the castle? You should be ashamed of yourselves," I scolded them my voice coming off as if I was bored

I was.

"Ten points from Gryffindor, 5 points from Slytherin. Also detention with whoever your house heads decide," I said shoeing them away

Glasses looked furious as he stomped forward shouting, "Why are we losing more points!"

"Hmm, what's your name?" I questioned

"James Potter," the kid answered smugly

"Well James, you got more points taken because the two of you couldn't even beat a one Slytherin," saying that I turned around and began walking away

"Umm, sir?" looking to my side I saw the Lovegood boy staring nervously at me

"Yes?" I motioned for him to ask his questions

He looked to the side then as if firming his resolve looked back at me, looking right at my eyes, and asked courageously, "Have you thought about my question long enough?"

The kid has spirit, most can't even maintain eye contact with me.

"Not yet," I chuckled lightly in response while continuing my walk to the great hall

Damn Lovegoods.

*Narrator pov*

As Morpheus left all of the adrenaline left James Potter's body and he suddenly remembered an event that happened at the beginning of the year. He paled instantly.

-end-
