Chapter 14: A ghost and a human-14
Seeing my serious expression Helena lost the smile she had shown before, "Of course Lord Morpheus, I wish to help you in whichever way I can,"
I smiled softly reminiscing about the days I spent in this castle when Helena still went to school.
She was always curious about everything but at the same time so shy, I remember her mother asking me to help her with some studies in my free time.
Softly I asked, "Do you remember your mother's diadem?"
I saw her face fall instantly at my question, I spark of worry began to form within my soul.
"Lord Morpheus I - I-," She began to hesitate as if uttering her words would cause a great catastrophe
"Speak clearly Helena," I said narrowing my eyes
I could see her ethereal form solidifying her resolve, she then began to boldly speak, "I stole the diadem. I sought to make myself cleverer, more important than my mother. I ran away with it. My mother, they say, never admitted that the diadem was gone, but pretended that she had it still. She concealed her loss, my dreadful betrayal, even from the other founders of Hogwarts"
I stared at her in silence, she floated uncomfortably in the air. My desk and the chairs inside the classroom began to shake from my unbridled anger.
"Foolish girl!" I hissed in rage
"Where did you run away with it," my hand reached out and grabbed her ethereal throat
A look of surprise and anguish crossed her face, "Hrggh" she groaned in pain as my hand tightened
"Albania!" she shouted gasping in pain
Letting go I moved back to my seat with a small smile gracing my lips, "Ahh I see I'm sorry for my little outburst Helena,"
"How were you able to grab me," she asked in horror while floating backward
"Haha, little Helena it's just a small trick I'm sorry for scaring you. Now where exactly did you die?" I asked softly
As she began to tell me softly I could see the fear in her eyes. Sometimes I just can't control my anger, the diadem is much more important than she could fathom.
I truly regret telling Rowena how to hide objects from divination and scrying rituals.
As Helena finished her tale I could see hesitation in her eyes, "What is it, Helena? At this point, things couldn't get any worse,"
She nodded slowly in agreement, "there was a student who attended Hogwarts many years ago, he sweet-talked me into revealing what happened to the diadem," her head hung in shame
Wiping my face with my hands in exhaustion I sighed deeply, "Helena thank you for telling me the truth I hope we can have a more pleasant conversation in the future. Please leave,"
She nodded slowly and left without a word.
This Tom Riddle she mentioned if he truly found the diadem that might not be the worst situation.
Although I can't use divination to find the diadem itself if I go to the location Helena described and instead focus on this young student I can narrow down my search that way.
*Helena POV*
As I left Lord Morpheus I couldn't help but recall the words Salazar always said to me, "Helena, although he treats you well be wary of Morpheus," Salzar
"Why?" I would ask naively
"His anger can drown empires," Salazar would reply softly
I never believed him. I would always call him jealous because of Lord Morpheus's achievements.
Today I saw a fraction of his anger.
I felt just a bit of what his enemies feel.
And I never want to feel that again.
When I looked into his eyes while my throat was gripped in his hand I saw something that made my very soul shiver.
For the first time in centuries, I couldn't help but wonder if Morpheus is a force of good in this world.
Or a force of destruction.
*Morpheus Pov*
Seeing as I couldn't leave the castle in the near future I could only wait for winter break or another weekend opportunity.
As time went on the location where Helena died at surely changed quite a bit. This would make my search even harder.
I can only wait for the perfect opportunity.
In the meantime, I should search for information on this Tom Riddle. Even now I don't want to perform a scrying spell on an unknown man.
You never know what type of protections one could have.

"Okay, class today we will be discussing your midterms. First I will address the group that resonated best with the diving rod. By Christmas, I expect you to be able to search this castle for an item I have hidden using only the divining rod technique," As I spoke I saw all the students writing notes down on what I said
I like it when my class is interested enough in the subject to even write notes down that don't pertain to them.
One student raised their hand, "Yes Mr..?"
"Uh, Gilderoy Lockhart Sir!" The boy said eagerly
Beckoning him to continue I said, "Yes well, go on then,"
"Um, Sir we only spend fifteen minutes of class each day with our most ideal techniques how can we finish this without more practice?" I could see he was fearing I would be angry at the question
"Well, Mr. Lockhart, from today onward I will be alternating classes between helping you all practice and overview and helpful tips of broader divination," I replied
He nodded, "thank you, sir,"
"Now, for the students best suited toward literature divination your midterm will involve me asking you a complex question that is just above your level of understanding. Using any book in the room you can seek guidance to answer your question," I said while gesturing toward the bookshelves
I got a look of confusion in return.
"Okay," I nodded slowly, "for example," I began to write something on the small unused chalkboard behind me
'What type of dragon tooth can be used to create a powder solution that once spread into the air can create violent waves of heat'
"Can anyone answer this question?" I asked the room
Seeing no one raising their hands I beckoned to one of the literature students.
"Come up here, Mrs. Jones," she slowly came to the front of the room
I summoned three books to my hands, one book about dragons, one about potions, and the last about hunting beasts.
"Mrs. Jones I will guide you through this. Everyone watch carefully and keep in mind this will be much harder on your own," I said carefully
"Okay, Mrs. Jones, look at the board and read the question however many times it takes for you to be able to picture it inside your mind," seeing her focused I lit an incense to help her focus even more
I don't have time for her to take forever.
"Once you got it close your eyes," I added
After five minutes she closed her eyes carefully. Seeing this I summoned a desk in front of her and placed each book down.
"Now with that question envisioned at the front of your mind pick up a book, and let your magic guide you," she slowly hovered over the books
Eventually, she picked up the potions book, "Good now repeat the question out loud slowly,"
Ever so slowly she began to speak, "What type of dragon tooth can be used to create a powder solution that once spread into the air can create violent waves of heat"
"Now with your magic guiding you open the book and point at any spot," She followed my directions perfectly
"Open your eyes and read," I instructed
"The eastern volcanic stone Dragon has many body parts that can be used in various potions, be aware the most dangerous ingredient is the tooth of said Dragon. When finely ground into powder the powder can be highly volatile and create heat waves!" she read excitedly
"" Wow!"" the class exclaimed in excitement
"During the exam, your question will not be on the board. I will only repeat it three times," I said dampening the student's mood

A/N:Patre on: patreon.com/Boogie324 I'm learning way too much about divination while writing this, the funniest part of my story so far is how many people are mentioning Lotm yes I took inspiration for some divination methods.
