Harry Potter: The art of divination

Chapter 222: Trip

*Cassiopeia pov*

Entering the family manor once more I made my way to my room to pack for the excursion with Morpheus. He didn't tell me what we were going to do in Germany but, best be prepared for all outcomes.

I made sure to avoid the rest of my family while I moved through the manor, it was rather tense inside at the moment. The family doesn't largely agree with my brother's plans, idiots the lot of them it almost pains me to see them in the family tree.

"So you agreed to go with him?" my brother asked entering my room

I scoffed, "Of course, this is a good opportunity,"

"What to leave the house," I could hear his insufferable smile

I couldn't control my snort what an annoying tick, "Hardly, I can deal with these fools easily. No this is a good opportunity to see how he works in person." and learn more about him was left unsaid

Yes, I think learning more about Morpheus is the most important aspect of this journey. My brother and I have scoured historical texts, tomes, grimoires, and more just to find barely anything referencing him.

We found information about demons, gods, angels, monsters, and more but nothing about him. That cannot be a coincidence, at most he is referenced as a 'clear-eyed man' and that is in a seldom few texts that are barely translatable.

How is that possible?

Storing another pouch of holding I tucked it away in my robes, "Well I best off take care brother, and good luck with the family."

He scoffed, "I don't need luck."

"Let me in Morpheus!" This is getting annoying my face has been sitting in the floo for five minutes now waiting for him to let me in

This level of protection is absurd when the floo leads you to another heavily warded room.

his voice called out, "You can enter." my body jerked almost causing me to stumble into the room

"Took your time." I said hiding my anger

He smiled, "Last-minute issues needed to be remedied." he noted while holding out a metal rod

Taking the other end I waited for him to activate the portkey, "Germany." he uttered whisking us away

The first thing I noticed was the ground awfully close to my face, "Grgh!" I grunted trying to get up from the wooden floor

The annoying voice of my companion sounded, "You can stand." freeing me from my binds

"You couldn't have warned me!" I snarled standing to my feet wand in hand I am going to curse this bloody bastard!

He looked amused AMUSED!, "I honestly forgot you wouldn't be keyed in, harmless I assure you. sorry about that though. You can choose whichever room you want except the one with the black door. Oh and only enter the doors with gold handles."

How gaudy I didn't expect that from someone like him, "Very well, when do we set off?"

Morpheus shrugged, "About an hour, I assume you brought a dress? If you haven't I have some fine silk stored away."

My brow rose, "Of course, I brought a dress. Are we going to a ball?"

He smiled, "I knew you would come prepared, and it's sort of a ball more like a high-end gathering of allies."

"I see." with that, I went off to find my room

It will be interesting to meet his other allies.

***

I stepped back into the room we port-keyed into wearing a beautiful black dress, "You look nice." Morpheus noted while passing her a mask

"What's the point of the masks? Aren't we meeting your allies a mask seems pointless when everyone knows who you are." I remarked while putting it on

He was wearing a rather nice set of robes himself I noted as he put his mask on, "Quite the opposite actually, there will be many in attendance I assure you not everyone knows each other. And when did I say they were my allies?"

Before I could reply he passed me a bag of floo powder, "You will want to get into the habit of carrying your own now repeat after me. Gerard wagen nach Hause!" he disappeared in a flash of green flames

With a deep sigh, I questioned my earlier decision to come here, "Gerard wagen nach Hause!" I stepped into a wide-open room lined with gaudy carriages

The door to the carriage closest to me opened, "Come in." Morpheus said tipping his hat to me

A hat he didn't have earlier.

I shook my head in amusement while I joined him as soon as I sat the carriage seemed to come alive taking off.

"So where are we going?" I asked

"The Tanz der Nacht. Or Dance of the Night, is a large gathering of German purebloods and it happens twice a year. As you can tell by the name the creators were extra in their naming sense. There is no dance I can assure you." he noted with a small smile

I snorted, "You brought me here for a German pureblood secret ball?" I asked in shock

He shrugged, "I brought you here for two reasons, one is to do what you do best. Subterfuge, blackmail, threats, and everything of that sort. You see, I know the old stuff but you know the new stuff, when point some people out go do your thing and try to keep your identity hidden."

"Blackmail? Threaten? You know how to flatter me so! But for what reason?" I asked leaning in to hear the full story

He smiled, "I'm fine with Voldemort gathering allies in Britain, but the people you will be talking to here are assisting the war for one purpose a purpose I will not condone. So I'm giving them a choice listen to you or be eradicated."

The way he said it made my bones chill, "And what is their purpose?"

"To use Voldemort to kill as many British wizards as possible. I understand the others, they are fighting for a cause you know? They fight to overthrow, to conquer. These men assist in decimating human lives. Not even brave enough to do it themselves." he scoffed

"Honestly, from what I know of you I wouldn't think you cared for human lives," I remarked shallowly

He laughed, "You don't know me at all child. I adore human life."

"And the second thing?" I asked, "The second thing you wanted me here for what was it?"

"In due time."

The carriage began to slow causing me to lift the curtain and see where we were stopping. A normal-looking building was in sight but, I could tell it was heavily warded.

The inside was sure to be grand.

Morpheus stood, "Remember, even though they don't know everyone in attendance they know we shouldn't be here. Keep your mask on and if you think your cover is blown signal me I will handle it." with that he opened the door and held out his arm

Linking my arm with his we walked toward the building.
