Chapter 5: Bloodline abilities
Nick got back to the orphanage in a pretty good mood after his first day of school thanks to his interaction with harry. 'I hope Dumbledore doesn't try and cause problems for me because I decided to be friends with Harry' he thought with a frown. This was a valid concern since it was heavily implied in the books that the old wizard had purposefully manipulated Harry's life after he was orphaned in order to lead him down the willing sacrifice route. It would not surprise Nick at all to see that his presence gets treated as an eyesore.-
Thanks to the fact that it was also heavily implied that the man used legilimency , which was literal mind manipulation and reading , Nick knew all it would take was for the old goat to put the thoughts of distancing himself from Harry into his head to get his way. 'Jokes on him I plan to fix this problem tonight with my smithing.' Nick thought with a chuckle as he imagined the ugly expression the old wizard might make failing to break into his mind. Sure Nick knew that Dumbledore was a good guy , but he wouldn't forget that the man was a literal war veteran who knew how to make evil acts for the greater good.-
The caretaker of the orphanage was a kindly woman with medium length brown hair and tan skin that was about five six in height and slightly on the heavier side , not fat but plump. She was waiting at the entrance of the orphanage for Nick and the other kids to arrive. "Welcome back everyone , I expect you all to do your homework and show it to me before the end of the day." she said seriously while giving a few kids in particular a stern look that they sheepishly avoided.-
Nick chuckled at this since it seemed people still hated having to do homework in this version of earth as well. He thought it was even more funny when he directly handed the caretaker his homework when he walked up and said "I did it already". The woman was completely taken back by this and looked suspicious but after actually looking over the papers she could only sigh and hand the papers back since they were indeed done. One perk of being leagues ahead of his peers was that Nick could finish this stuff in thirty minutes with him writing taking up majority of that time.-
With the rest of the day free Nick needed to plan out what exactly he was going to do before he did it. 'Obviously I can't just disappear into my room and use my astral forge ticket as they would get suspicious when I don't come down for dinner. I suppose I can focus on trying to figure out what the hell is going on with my magic since Harry and I apparently had a whole conversation in parseltongue without realizing it.' he thought seriously.-
That was a very concerning thing to learn for nick as until one of the kids in the orphanage told him about it he hadn't even known it happened. Apparently midway through a conversation both he and Harry started the speak in a strange hissing sound according to the kid who had over heard them. 'It's possible that this body had parseltongued wizard lineage from somewhere in it's family tree which also explains my hair color. Now that I think about it this ability likely awoke from that potion clearing my magic circuits. It makes sense as if the ability was found in the blood then all pureblood wizards have the genetic predisposal to manifest these abilities but can't due to long term circuit degradation.' he thought seriously.-
The pureblood community would be horrified if they could hear Nicks thoughts right now as he had basically discovered that the reason for their decline was because they themselves wasted their gifts to the point they simply couldn't manifest as easily anymore. They all thought it was because of the purity of their bloodlines but in truth it was because they and their ancestors were worthless wizards. This also explained by half-bloods tended to be very talented as the sudden inclusion of pure circuits from the muggle blood cleared some of the atrophied ones.-
Nick wouldn't know if his theory was true or not for a long time though since things with the ability to clear magic circuits were entirely unheard of. 'Wait if this is true does it mean that I have other gifts as well since pureblood families have all mixed at some point?' he wondered seriously. Nick decided to spend the next few hours until dinner testing this question but was left unable to tell because ironically most bloodline gifts needed a magical scenario to show themselves and he was in the muggle world.
