Harry Potter: The Rise Of Malfoy

Chapter 67: Chapter 67 Resurrection holiday

Chapter 67.

After that day, Soren became even stricter and more diligent in his self-discipline. No matter where he was, one could see him immersed in reading thick books with great seriousness.

He first finished "The Art of Transformation," followed by the dark magic books "Dark Potions" and "Fallen Beings" from Malfoy's secret chamber. These books were all old texts with thousands of pages, not only difficult to understand but also dry and tedious in their content. Among them were some short-sighted dark magic spells that could shake the reader's mind and tempt unsuspecting readers towards corruption.

However, with a determined goal, Soren would not let the dull words scatter his spirit, nor would he allow the profound content to wear down his patience, much less let the allure of quick gains lighten his temperament—because in his vision that transcended time and space, he had already seen his future, and all he had to do was take one step at a time towards it!

In the book "Fallen Beings," he read about a certain unknown dark wizard's research on the curse placed on werewolves. He had attempted to break this curse, but not to turn werewolves back into normal humans; rather, he wanted to keep them in their werewolf form permanently while also being under his control. His research ultimately failed.

Interestingly, the direction of his research was somewhat similar to the notes from the Armenian old wizard that Soren had obtained from Lockhart, both drawing inspiration from ancient magic passed down from the Seleucid Empire. This made Soren realize that perhaps the breakthrough point for the "Human form Restoration Spell" lay here.

In the book "Dark Potions," he discovered a potion that could potentially greatly enhance his abilities—the Baruffio Brain Potion. Most of the ingredients needed for the Baruffio Brain Potion were not hard to find, but they were very expensive. He had already gathered quite a few of the pulsating umbrella mushrooms in the Forbidden Forest, and frog brains and dragon claw powder could be collected by Dobby from various apothecaries in Diagon Alley.

The only problem was the Niven snake egg—it was a Class C prohibited trade item and could not be found in ordinary apothecaries. Soren could only hope to find it in the underground black market of Knockturn Alley or perhaps get lucky with Nicolas.

As for why he wanted to brew the Baruffio Brain Potion? The Baruffio Brain Potion is a magical potion that can significantly enhance the mental capacity of the drinker. Many wizards confuse it with intelligence-enhancing potions.

brain-enhancing potions can only make the drinker's thoughts clearer but cannot make someone smarter; however, the Baruffio Brain Potion can develop a person's brain and enhance memory. Every year, many seventh-year students at Hogwarts buy the Baruffio Brain Potion from the black market to help them achieve good grades in their NEWT exams. [Tl/N : i don't know this potion is same or not]

However, Soren believed these people did not recognize the true value of the Baruffio Brain Potion. Its greatest value should be in enhancing a person's mental strength, which determines how precisely a wizard can control spells. Many complex spells have quite high requirements for mental strength.

Most importantly, in the experiment with the Pain Mask, Soren had already discovered that the rate of magical growth is not fixed. Two factors can influence the growth rate of magic—enhancing soul strength and mental strength can boost the growth rate.

Soren had no ideas about enhancing soul strength for now, but taking the Baruffio Brain Potion was undoubtedly the most obvious and easiest way to enhance mental strength.

Soon, the Easter holiday arrived.

For most students, the Easter holiday did not truly allow them to relax. The third-year students had never had so much homework, and Neville seemed on the verge of a nervous breakdown, and he was not the only one. The sounds of Ron and others struggling with their homework could often be heard in the Gryffindor common room.

Hermione was busier. Even without Divination class and with Hagrid's issues resolved by Soren, she still had more classes than anyone in her year. She usually left the common room the latest at night and was the first to arrive at the library the next morning. She had dark circles under her eyes like Lupin and always looked glum.

On the day Hermione hit Draco, after Harry and Ron stepped up, the two had reconciled with Hermione, and Ron had forgiven her for what happened with Scabbers, but they hadn't seen a smile on her face for a long time, as if the proud yet innocent girl from years ago no longer existed.

Harry, on the other hand, had to squeeze in homework between daily Quidditch practices, not to mention the endless discussions about tactics with Wood.

The match between Gryffindor and Slytherin will take place on the first Saturday after Easter, with Slytherin leading the league by a full two hundred points. This means that Harry and his team need to win by more than two hundred points to claim the cup. Consequently, Harry's task becomes to first prevent Draco from catching the Golden Snitch, and only after the team is ahead by 60 points can he go after the Snitch himself, making the challenge several times harder than before.

The most relaxed person is undoubtedly Soren: he had already completed his holiday homework and didn't need to attend Quidditch practice. The day after Easter began, he moved from Hogwarts, which had specially connected him to the Floo Network, to Sardinia, Italy.

Sardinia is an island located southwest of the Italian peninsula and is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean.

Sardinia can be described as a cultural melting pot; the Sardinian language, which is derived from Latin, is still spoken on the island. However, in the northern part of the island, Catalan, which comes from the Iberian Peninsula, is used. In the southern regions of the island, the "Ligurian" dialect is spoken. Therefore, even native Italians may completely misunderstand the language and be unable to communicate.

In Muggle history, Sardinia has always been a contested territory, having been invaded and colonized by the Phoenicians, Romans, Vandals, Goths, and Byzantines.

However, in the wizarding world, it has always been the headquarters of the Medieval European Wizards' Association, and before the establishment of the International Confederation of Wizards, the International Wizarding Congress was held here.

Even today, although the International Confederation of Wizards has completely replaced the former role and is recognized more broadly in the international wizarding community, the Medieval European Wizards' Association still holds considerable influence.

This is because there are still collections of ancient texts passed down from the Middle Ages, many of which contain rare and precious studies and records of ancient magic. Moreover, this organization has close ties with the Silver Spear, which is responsible for hosting the "All-Europe Duelling Championship."

When Soren stepped out of the fireplace, although he was covered in soot, he felt no dizziness or discomfort. He looked contentedly at the intact anti-dizziness bracelet on his wrist—after countless improvements, the bracelet could now withstand such long-distance travel without breaking.

[The anti-dizziness bracelet has been invented!]

Soren cast a cleaning charm on himself and began to observe the tall and spacious great hall he found himself in.

The decorations and carvings in the great hall are all in the medieval style, with portraits of famous European wizards from the medieval period hanging everywhere on the walls. Soren could recognize quite a few of them—such as the German magical theorist Cornelius Agrippa, the Swiss alchemist Paracelsus, and the famous Irish witch Cleiona, not to mention Slytherin's most proud figure—Merlin!

These portraits retained a significant portion of the memories of the individuals depicted, and upon seeing Soren arrive, they gathered in small groups to quietly discuss his identity. Soren couldn't help but smile; it seemed that visitors to this place were quite rare, leaving these portraits feeling rather stifled.

Soren walked to the reception desk, where various silverware was displayed. A middle-aged witch dressed in medieval attire sat there, with her robe adorned with exaggeratedly fluffy lace ruffles at the collar and cuffs. Seeing this, Soren couldn't help but chuckle inwardly, thinking he would get to admire this design again on Ron when they reached the fourth year.

Exhibiting perfect noble etiquette, Soren politely asked, "Hello, madam. I am Malfoy, from Great Britain. I have an appointment with your chairwoman, Madam Cleopatra, today. Please convey my message."

Seeing Soren's impeccable manners, the witch understood he must be from some ancient European family and did not dare to be negligent. She asked Soren to wait a moment, hurriedly wrote down his name on a small piece of paper, rolled it up, and placed it into a silver object shaped like a mouse. After the paper was placed inside, it transformed into a burst of fire, as if it had been burned.

The witch, noticing Soren's keen interest in the silver object, explained, "This is a transmitter that can directly send the note to another corresponding silver object."

Before long, a piece of paper was spat out from the silver object's mouth accompanied by a spark.

The witch glanced quickly and then stood up, leading Soren to a side hall, from which they ascended a long spiral staircase. This spiral staircase was enchanted with a self-rotating magic, just like an escalator in the Muggle world; as long as one stepped on it, it would automatically lift them up step by step.

They arrived in front of a door marked "Giordana Cleopatra," and the witch bowed slightly, leaving Soren behind.

Soren pushed open the door and saw Ms. Cleopatra, with whom he had been in frequent correspondence this semester. To Soren's surprise, Cleopatra was very young, estimated to be around 29 to 32 years old.

She wore a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, but they could not conceal the sharp, keen gaze behind the lenses.

However, more than her intellectual and elegant appearance, what caught Soren's attention was that each of her fingers wore rings of various shapes, each engraved with an ancient magical symbol. Under the effect of the Eye of Magic, they emitted distinctly different magical fluctuations.

A smile appeared on Cleopatra's lips. "Soren, I hope you don't mind me calling you that? Indeed, heroes emerge from youth; you are quite handsome."

Soren thought to himself how impressive it was; very few people would abandon etiquette and directly address someone by their name. If it were someone else, it would certainly be considered very rude.

However, for some reason, when such a beautiful and distinguished lady said it, it only made one feel flattered. Moreover, since she was not too much older than Soren (in the wizarding world, a difference of over ten years is really not significant), calling him by his name created a sibling-like atmosphere, making it feel very familiar.

Soren carefully replied, "Thank you for your kind words, Ms. Cleopatra. Your grace and achievements are what truly deserve admiration; being so young and already in a high position, and so beautiful as well."

Cleopatra chuckled softly, lazily lifted a jade hand to gently tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, and gave Soren a charming glance. "Oh, you're quite the flatterer. But you should call me Sister Giordana! It feels more friendly that way."

Soren obediently called out, "Sister Giordana."

Cleopatra showed a satisfied smile. "Good, I won't tease you anymore. I believe you've already seen the proposal I mentioned in my letter. I see great potential in you, and I would like to invite you to join the Medieval European Wizards' Association as a youth representative of the council—simply put, to become our spokesperson. This spokesperson role doesn't come with many actual obligations; all you need to do is link all your personal achievements to the council—like the combination spell of the Happiness Charm and the Patronus Charm that you developed. The title of inventor will still belong to you, but you must add the prefix 'Youth Representative of the Medieval European Wizards' Association' in front of your name."

"Of course, in return, the council will provide you with corresponding benefits—knowledge, power, wealth, status, and honor. Our library, which is not open to the public, will be accessible to you personally; we will also facilitate your entry to Silver Spear so you can participate in dueling activities at any time; as for wealth and status, I think you don't need those for now; and regarding honor—about that, I must first mention that the 'Prophet Daily' is firmly controlled behind the scenes by your British Ministry of Magic, and our hands can't reach there, but—"

Cleopatra's sharp gaze sparkled, "At least seventy percent of the media in Europe are our assets, including the French 'Le Cri de la Gargouille' (Stone Wing Demon Newspaper), the German 'Silberfledermaus Daily' (Silver Bat Daily), the Nordic 'Viking Daily,' the gossip magazine 'Love and Chaos,' the women's magazine 'Witch Weekly,' the curiosity magazine 'Singing Contradictions,' the sports magazine 'Quidditch Times,' the broom guide magazine 'Complete Guide to Flying Brooms,' and so on. You can imagine what kind of reputation can be created for you by these media, which we control, standing behind you, speaking well of you, and building momentum for you in public opinion..."
