Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Platform Nine and Three-Quarters
September 1st – The Journey Begins
In the parking lot of King's Cross Station, David stood beside his parents, gripping the handle of his suitcase.
It was merely a cover—containing little more than some clothes and an enchanted box enhanced with the Traceless Extension Charm.
Inside the box, however, was a treasure trove:
Books—many of them rare, some even banned.
Potion ingredients he had painstakingly collected.
The brain of a Fire Dragon, frozen with a Preservation Charm.
The corpse of a Murtra Rat, preserved for further study.
But most importantly, David carried his two magical creatures—both bound to him, both dangerous.
The Winged Demon was easy to conceal.
By curling into a small, spherical form, it entered a dormant state, making it indistinguishable from an ordinary trinket in David's pocket.
Its predatory aura vanished in this form, preventing unwanted attention.
To sustain it, David had prepared Fire Dragon brain.
Ordinarily, a Winged Demon only consumed fresh, living prey, but Fire Dragon brain was a rare exception—it devoured it enthusiastically even when frozen.
Surprisingly, Dragon brain wasn't particularly expensive.
Unlike Dragon liver—prized in potioneering—Dragon brain had no known alchemical properties. Most wizards found the idea of eating brains revolting, so it sold for just 16 Sickles per ounce.
As for the Voldebat, concealing it was more complicated.
Though it resembled a cloak, any wizard with knowledge of dark creatures would immediately recognize it.
Its notoriety alone made it something that could never be openly displayed at Hogwarts.
To solve this, David had crafted a platinum pendant—a hollow charm enhanced with the Traceless Extension Spell.
Due to its tiny size, enchanting it had been incredibly difficult, requiring weeks of meticulous work.
The result?
A miniature pocket-dimension, no larger than a small room, just enough for the Voldebat to reside inside.
Humans couldn't enter—it was far too small—but for the shadowy creature, it was perfect.
With this enchanted necklace, David could carry the Voldebat discreetly.
But he had also grown more adept at controlling it.
Over the past month, he had practiced relentlessly, ensuring that the creature would obey his commands.
Now, with a simple motion, the Voldebat could:
Wrap around his shoulders like a normal cloak.
Conceal his face in shadows, obscuring his identity.
Resist magic, particularly Dark spells.
This was far more than a mere disguise—it was a powerful magical defense.
If Voldebats weren't so untamable, they would have become coveted artifacts in the wizarding world.
Progress in Magic
Beyond these preparations, David had also intensively trained in magic, with a particular focus on Occlumency.
The results were clear.

Arriving at King's Cross Station
David made his way through the bustling crowds, heading toward Platform 9.
As he walked, he began to notice something strange.
Many people were dressed oddly.
One man wore a thick winter coat… paired with shorts.
Another—a burly man with a full beard—strode confidently in a long dress and high heels.
A group of staff workers nearby were whispering among themselves.
"It's like this every year. You get used to it," one muttered.
"Kids asking where Platform Nine and Three-Quarters is… and the weirdly dressed folks, too."
"Anything special happening today?"
"Dunno. First day of school, maybe?"
David smirked slightly.
They had no idea what kind of people walked these halls.
Crossing the Barrier
Without hesitation, David approached the seemingly solid barrier between Platforms 9 and 10.
With a swift stride, he vanished into the brick wall.
A slight sensation of compression wrapped around him—
Then, in the next instant, he emerged on Platform Nine and Three-Quarters.
Before he could take a step forward—
BAM!
Something collided into him.
Or rather, he collided into someone.
"Ah!"
A small girl had been knocked over, tumbling onto a pile of luggage.
David frowned.
"Why was she standing in the way?"
Still, he extended a hand and helped her up.
As he lifted her scattered belongings, he suddenly paused.
That face…
Those bushy brown curls…
And those large, prominent front teeth…
Hermione Granger.
An Unpleasant Memory
Recognition flashed in Hermione's eyes as well.
But before she could greet him, David smirked.
"Big Front Teeth. It's you."
Her expression darkened instantly.
The nickname was one she hated.
And worse—David was the reason she had earned it.
A Three-Year Rivalry
Three years ago, during the multi-school summer camp, Hermione had been at the top.
She excelled in logic puzzles, memory challenges, and academic tests.
Until David appeared.
Not only did he surpass her in every challenge, but at the end, he had patted her shoulder and said:
"Don't be sad. At least your front teeth are bigger than mine!"
She had burst into tears in front of everyone.
Now, years later, those words still haunted her.
"Thank you," Hermione said stiffly, grabbing her luggage and walking away without another word.
David simply chuckled.
"Still remembers, huh?"
Boarding the Hogwarts Express
Stepping onto the red steam train, David navigated through the crowded corridors.
Most compartments were already full.
This couldn't be helped—most wizards arrived instantly via magic, while David had taken a long car ride to get here.
Finally, in the back half of the train, he found a compartment with only one occupant.
A young witch, absorbed in a book.
David knocked on the door.
"Mind if I sit here?"
The girl glanced up, then quickly returned to reading.
She said nothing.
"I'll take that as a yes."
David slid the door open, stepped inside, and stowed his suitcase on the luggage rack.
As he sat down, he studied the girl more closely.
She looked… familiar.
Then it clicked.
"She was the one sitting across from me at Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Shop."
David leaned back.
The journey to Hogwarts had just begun.
And he was ready.
