----------------------------------------------------------
Ravenclaw's dormitory followed a standard four-person layout. Each bed was a four-poster with bronze curtains, and the room was decorated in shades of sky blue, maintaining the house's signature colors of blue and bronze.
Through the window, one could see the vast expanse of mountains and wilderness in the distance, along with the Quidditch field below. The sight was both breathtaking and inspiring—a perfect reflection of Ravenclaw's love for wisdom and perspective.
This year, Ravenclaw had exactly ten first-year students, which meant that the boys' dormitory was filled with a complete set of four students.
David's new roommates included:
Terry Boot, a thin, black-haired boy who was talkative and full of energy. He had been sorted early in the ceremony and had not stopped chatting since.
Michael Corner, a tall and slender boy with brown hair who was more reserved, rarely speaking unless necessary.
Gene Croft, a slightly chubby, blond-haired boy with a cheerful disposition and an easy laugh.
After everyone finished unpacking their belongings and getting washed up, David climbed into bed.
He had briefly entertained the idea of sneaking out to explore Hogwarts at night but dismissed it. The moving staircases were notorious, and without a proper understanding of the castle's layout, there was a good chance he wouldn't be able to find his way back.
As he lay back against the pillows, Terry, still brimming with excitement, spoke up.
"Before this summer, I could have never imagined something like this happening to me—I'm a wizard!" Terry said, his voice filled with awe. "My parents are ordinary people. My dad works at a bank, and my mom is a full-time housewife. When I received my Hogwarts letter, I thought it was a prank."
Michael and Gene listened attentively.
"Luckily, Professor Sprout came to explain everything to us. Otherwise, I might have ignored it and never made it here," Terry added with a chuckle.
David nodded, understanding the disbelief that came with discovering a whole new world.
"As for me," Michael said quietly, "I don't even know if I count as a half-blood. My mom's a witch, but she was born to Muggle parents. She told me that after graduating from Hogwarts, she decided to return to the Muggle world instead of staying in the wizarding world. My dad's just a regular person, so I was raised as a Muggle."
Michael paused before continuing.
"In fact, before I got my Hogwarts letter, my mom never even told me she was a witch. She kept it hidden all these years. When she finally admitted it, my dad was terrified."
The room fell silent for a moment as the others processed his words.
"Oh, and my mom was in Hufflepuff," Michael added. "I thought I'd end up there too."
His voice carried a hint of worry. David noticed the unease in Michael's expression and suspected there was more to the story.
Michael soon confirmed it.
"I've heard from my mom that it's difficult for Muggle-born wizards to find jobs in the wizarding world," he admitted. "Even if they do, they don't get good positions. That's why a lot of them end up going back to the Muggle world. My mom hasn't used her wand in over ten years."
That revelation made David pause. He had never considered the challenges Muggle-born wizards faced after Hogwarts.
"The other day," Michael continued, "she had to search the whole house just to find her wand. It was buried in the back of the storage closet."
Terry looked sympathetic, but before he could say anything, Gene spoke up.
"My situation's different. Both my parents are wizards," Gene said. "My mom graduated from Slytherin, and my dad was in Gryffindor. They both work at the Ministry of Magic now."
"Wow," Terry said. "A Slytherin and a Gryffindor? That must've been an interesting household."
Gene grinned. "Yeah. My dad always says that my mom chased him first. They were betting on whether I'd end up in Gryffindor or Slytherin. But, well… here I am."
David smirked. Gene had the perfect background for a classic protagonist—wizard parents, Hogwarts rivalry, and potential hidden talents.
"What about you, David?" Terry asked. "Your sorting took a long time. The upper-year students were talking about it like it was a huge deal. What happened?"
David hesitated for a moment before replying.
"Nothing special," he said casually. "The Sorting Hat just had a hard time deciding where to put me."
Of course, he wasn't about to tell them that the Sorting Hat had spent most of that time talking to him about Azkaban.
"If the Sorting Hat had trouble deciding, that means you fit into multiple houses," Terry mused. "You must be really talented. No wonder the older students were so impressed!"
David shrugged, not wanting to dwell on the topic.
The conversation shifted to lighter subjects. The four of them chatted about their experiences at Diagon Alley, the wonders of Gringotts, their wands, and their thoughts on the Hogwarts Express.
Terry did most of the talking, while David, Michael, and Gene occasionally added their thoughts.
Before long, exhaustion set in.
Michael was the first to fall asleep. Then Gene stopped responding.
Terry yawned, finally giving in. "Alright, good night, David."
"Good night," David replied.
The dormitory fell silent except for the soft sounds of steady breathing.
Despite feeling tired, David remained awake, staring at the floating panel before him.
Achievements Unlocked
Since arriving at Hogwarts, David had already completed two achievements.
[Hogwarts]
"Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hogwarts, please teach us knowledge.
Whether we are bald old men or children with broken knees, our minds can accept some interesting mistakes because our brains are empty, full of air, dead flies, and trivialities.
Teach us some valuable knowledge, give us back what we have forgotten.
You just need to work hard, and leave the rest to us.
We will study hard until it turns into dung."
Achievement Goal: Arrive at Hogwarts (1/1)
Achievement Reward: Random Talent
[Ravenclaw]
"We come from the lakeside, we are wise and knowledgeable, we love to study, we are different from ordinary people, we are far-sighted, we never give up, we are Ravenclaw."
Achievement Goal: Join Ravenclaw House (1/1)
Achievement Reward: Improved thinking ability, spell talent, and alchemy talent
David was impressed. This second reward was incredibly generous.
His previous talents already included enhanced learning abilities, wizardry skills, double black magic talent, and potion talent. Now, with additional boosts in thinking, spellcasting, and alchemy, his growth potential was staggering.
The random talent he received, [Flame Affinity], was also highly beneficial.
[Flame Affinity]
"Enhances control and power of fire magic. The deeper the understanding of fire magic, the greater the improvement."
This was intriguing. The wizarding world didn't classify magic by elements, but many spells involved fire, such as Fiendfyre, Incendio, and Protego Diabolica.
David couldn't help but think of Grindelwald's mastery of fire magic. His legendary flames were both deadly and visually stunning.
This will definitely come in handy.
A satisfied smile crossed David's face as he finally allowed sleep to overtake him.
Tomorrow, his journey at Hogwarts would truly begin.
And with the talents he had gained, he was ready to seize every opportunity that came his way.
