Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Conclusion
Chapter 75: Conclusion
The Fourth Kazekage wanted a match.
It was just as Kakashi expected, and he already had a countermeasure.
Taking out three kunai, the young man threaded his fingers through the rings at their ends.
"Lord Kazekage, one move. If I can't break your defense, I will willingly go to the Sand and let you deal with me as you please. If I do break your defense, then please don't make things difficult for us."
"Arrogant boy."
This couldn't even be called a wager. When it came to defense, Rasa had never feared anyone. Even when suppressing the One-Tail, he could block its Wind Release and sandstorms. What prompted the Kazekage to agree wasn't just his confidence. The Mizukage hadn't made a move, and this boy's clone was already so powerful, one could only imagine how strong the original was. If the two of them teamed up, even with all his subordinates, he would likely suffer heavy casualties.
"I agree. If you don't have the ability, then..."
"I won't go back on my word."
"Let's begin."
Kakashi waited quietly as the Fourth Kazekage wrapped himself in a sphere of gold dust, then erected another wall of gold dust over two meters thick in front of it.
This shameless move made the silver-haired young man's eyelid twitch. He had thought the man would only use one layer of gold dust.
Rasa didn't dare to be careless. The reason was the coin his clone had fired. He guessed that this move was the boy's greatest threat to his defense.
And he wasn't wrong. Kakashi had prepared three kunai precisely for a second use of the Super Railgun.
"Mei, let me borrow your subordinate's kunai."
"As you wish."
He turned over a Mist ninja who had been knocked out by the genjutsu and took all his stock of kunai and shuriken.
An eye floated in the air, observing the silver-haired boy's movements. The Fourth Kazekage, his vision synchronized with the eye, quietly added another layer of chakra reinforcement to the gold dust.
The gleaming kunai and shuriken were controlled by Kakashi's purple lightning, floating in the air. He turned his head to look at the eye in the sky.
"Lord Kazekage, before I make my move, I think you've misunderstood something."
"A ninja's strength is not defined by their title. A genin is not necessarily weaker than a chunin, and may even be stronger than a jonin. And jonin is just the beginning. What's important is the mind, the ability to make calm judgments at all times, and leadership."
Inside his defense, the Kazekage listened carefully to Kakashi's words, not understanding what he was trying to say.
"Ninja are fragile. When most ninja don't resist, an ordinary person with a knife can kill them. A true ninja would never give an ordinary person such an opportunity. This leads to the huge power gap between civilians and ninja."
"Physical fitness is one part, but mentality is another standard that determines strength. The choice of opponent is the final test."
Only when facing a select few would Kakashi adopt this lecturing tone. The Fourth Kazekage was, on the whole, a reasonable person; otherwise, he wouldn't bother with the idle talk.
"What I want to say is, the title of Kazekage has made you proud. This pride is worthless."
"This move will make you remember that."
Holding back no longer, purple arcs of electricity shot across the ground, kicking up clouds of dust. The flashing light revealed ferocious fangs on the slightly dark platform. The swarm of kunai and shuriken arranged themselves in a line. Even before firing, the sheer presence of the attack made the surrounding ninja spectators' faces change color.
"What kind of ninjutsu is this?"
"It doesn't look like ordinary ninjutsu, more like a forbidden jutsu. I've never seen such purple lightning, let alone someone who can control such powerful lightning."
A half-masked ninja's eyes flickered, the memory of being spared by him in Rōran still vivid.
"Jōnin Baki, should we help Lord Kazekage?"
"Have faith in Lord Kazekage."
Saying no more, he carefully observed the ultimate Lightning Release.
Kakashi's chakra mobilization had reached its limit. He had used over ten Mega-Joules of Ryūmyaku energy. This was about to be the strongest attack he had ever unleashed.
The violent, crackling purple lightning gradually calmed, concentrating on the sides of the kunai and shuriken. The sound was no longer as piercing as before. The light from the lightning dyed Kakashi's entire body purple.
Like a general clad in lightning armor, the young man gently waved his right hand. The kunai and shuriken moved with it. The dazzling light was already making the observing Sand-nin uncomfortable.
Not many understood this attack. Mei was one of them. She reminded the Queen of Rōran, "Don't look."
"No, I want to watch him defeat the Kazekage."
Sara stubbornly stared at Kakashi. The feud between the Sand and Rōran was resolved, but that didn't mean she would forgive these ninja.
'Lightning Release: Super Railgun...'
'Kai.'
Before anyone could react, the silver-haired young man had already made his move. The kunai and shuriken, traveling at dozens of times the speed of sound, created a massive shockwave in the air, instantly disintegrating the first layer of gold dust defense. Then, as the Fourth Kazekage's third eye was obscured by dust, it pierced through the second layer of defense. From the inside out, a concave trench extended from the silver-haired boy's feet to the inner wall of the platform.
Rasa realized it too late. His brown hair was blown into disarray by the shockwave. Above his shoulder, a hole in the gold dust on the right side of his neck proved the power of the attack.
The defense slowly disintegrated. With his pupils shrunk, the Fourth Kazekage asked the boy in a voice feigning composure, "What is your name?"
Glancing at the admiring looks from Mei and Sara, Kakashi felt no pride.
"Hatake Kakashi."
The Fourth Kazekage, still in shock from his defense being broken, didn't process the meaning of the name. By the time he came to his senses, the boy, the Mizukage, and the Queen of Rōran were already just retreating figures.
Not a single Sand-nin gave chase.
Rasa looked back at the trajectory of the powerful ninjutsu's attack. It led to the vast, starry sky above the desert.
The Sand-nin retreated. After confirming with the system, Kakashi had 20 hours left. He decided to spend this time accompanying the two of them through the night.
They found an open spot in the ruins. All three were exhausted. They found a clean patch of ground and lay down. Squeezed tightly between them, the young man didn't stop them, simply enjoying the passage of time as the even breathing of the two beside him filled the air.
He couldn't help but chuckle. It seemed the chakra-suppressing pills also had a sedative component. He tried to get up and move, but found that even in their sleep, they were clinging tightly to his arms.
This fear of him suddenly disappearing was just like that of an abandoned cat, only their capabilities were far beyond that of any pet.
The pure goodwill after the incident was over washed over Kakashi's heart. Their sleeping postures were not very graceful; Sara had even thrown a leg over him.
After moving it aside, Kakashi decided not to move anymore, letting them change their sleeping positions as they pleased.
Their past selves... what would happen when they met their present selves?
At this thought, the silver-haired young man's head began to ache again.
'Whatever... I'll just focus on surviving for now.'
