Chapter 92: The Actor

A ninja must learn how to be an actor.

An actor needs self-discipline. They must be able to get into character quickly, anytime, anywhere, to feel the character's emotions and deliver their lines with feeling. They must first deceive themselves before they can deceive the audience.

Obito had memorized every detail of the plan in the scroll for the Uchiha's evacuation from Konoha. Now was the perfect opportunity to take the first step.

There was a hollow space inside the Hokage Monument. Normally, no one came here, and it was even more unlikely at night.

The two entered the hollow space. Obito gathered his emotions and walked towards the outer part of the interior. Through the eyes of the Hokage monument, one could see the entire village. At night, Konoha was still full of life.

"Sensei, what's the war situation like on the external fronts?"

Minato Namikaze frowned. He had thought Obito was going to talk to him about Danzo.

"The situation with the Land of Earth is stable. Lord Orochimaru and Master Jiraiya are actively counterattacking. I defeated the Third Raikage's son and the Eight-Tails jinchuriki in the Land of Rice Fields, so the Land of Lightning won't be invading again for a while. I haven't received any reports on the situation with the Land of Water yet. You're the deputy commander; you should know better than I do."

"That's what I need to report to you, Sensei."

"Did something happen?"

A bad feeling rose in Minato Namikaze's heart. He had long heard that the Uchiha clan's internal affairs were not peaceful and that they seemed to be divided into two factions, one of which had ambitions to seize the Hokage's seat by force. Could this be related to that?

He had automatically classified Obito as being in the pro-Hokage faction.

"Yes."

Obito leaped down from the Hokage monument and disappeared into the night.

Behind Minato, Kushina gradually approached.

"Kushina."

"Minato, Obito just now produced malice."

"Malice towards me?"

"No. It was probably towards the Uchiha."
