Chapter 24: Blood and Carnage (II)

When Percy heard the voice near his ears, he immediately jumped forward before kicking the door of the nearest house. Inside, just like in the entire city, a faint smell of blood filled the air. Two pairs of eyes looked at Percy with fear; as it was already known throughout the city of carnage, then it was clear the fear of some.

"If you don't want to die, you will stay out of the house until I come out."

No more was needed, just Percy's gaze could make the worst criminal tremble, so the two men immediately left. Their feet moved and they ran out of the house without saying anything.

And at that moment, the voice in Percy's ears was ending, at the same time as his spirit rings manifested. This could not happen, but through the influence of the Asura God, the spirit rings manifested and were growing in age.

 After all, the one year time for the first test had ended!

"One year time has ended. Result of the Asura God's first test: 2,781 deaths. The task has been completed beyond the stated time. As a reward, the age of all spirit rings will be increased by 1,000 years."

Percy watched as his first yellow spirit ring turned purple, the second one seemed to darken further, reaching a purple color with small shades of black. The rest of the spirit rings were all ten thousand years old, so there were no visible changes.

But, with the change in age of the first spirit ring, the power and spiritual ability had changed a bit.

Percy's first ability was: Bloody Edge. The effect was pretty good at first, it would even increase with each level he passed, but now it got another increase.

Within the next five minutes, the wound caused by his cut would bleed more than normal, causing a decrease in speed of 5% percent. When Percy was at level forty, that percentage was 10%, but this percentage could also increase every twenty levels. And with Percy's current level at 69, that percentage was already at 20%

With the increase in power due to the thousand-year age of his first spirit ring, that percentage increases by another 10%, causing the wound caused by his first spirit ability to slow down the enemy by 30%, but when he reached level 90, the speed would slow down by 50%.

"Bloody tyrant...", Percy looked to the side, noticing a woman wearing black robes and a dark veil on her face. This woman met him for the first time when he entered the city. After killing the knight who faced him at the entrance, this woman found him and explained some things about the city before staying with him for 24 hours; in that period of time, no one was allowed to attack Percy.

It was the privilege that everyone had when entering the city.

 "Murong Yun," Percy nodded in acknowledgement.

"What do you need? You come to kill another guard?"

"Hmph…" Percy snorted. "If they didn't bother me, they wouldn't be dead. But no, that's not what I came for. I need the King of Slaughter to open the path of hell for me."

Murong Yun's dark eyes widened slightly as she looked Percy up and down.

"I'll… let him know," Murong Yun nodded before walking towards the large doors of the building.

"Hey…" Percy, however, stopped her and looked curiously.

"Why is someone like you in this place? I don't see you as a scum of humanity."

Murong Yun smiled behind her veil looking at Percy: "What makes you think I don't enjoy slaughter?"

 "No matter how you try to disguise it, your eyes are not those of someone who has killed too many people. Besides, I can tell when someone is like the other scum in this city."

Murong Yun raised his eyebrows before shaking his head.

"Generally, newborn boys and girls are collected and trained to serve as knights in the city of slaughter. I don't understand the reason behind this, but I have seen several newborns collected by others, including myself. It's been a rule set for as long as I can remember."

"I see…" Percy nodded with a small smile that surprised Murong Yun.

Percy had spent time thinking about why this city existed. And the more time passed, the more he realized. Only two types of people entered this place. The first type was the worst type of scum that he heard about; those who enjoyed rape, rampant sex, murder, cannibals, and other types of trashy people. The second type of person was the lesser, and they were those who wanted to temper themselves and gain the mastery of the god of slaughter.

The Asura God represented slaughter, but that did not mean he was evil. From what the old man taught him, the god of creation (himself an old man in disguise) created destruction, who controlled ruin and destruction; life, who controlled life and creation; evil, who controlled evil; goodness, who controlled goodness and good. Finally, he created slaughter, who controlled slaughter.

 Percy theorized that the Asura God not only created this place to find an heir, but also to lock up the evil of humanity and not let it spread so much across Planet Douluo. The Asura God created a prison and a place of inheritance at the same time, thus killing two birds with one stone.

If that was so, then it wasn't strange that he left rules or something that helped some newborns with opportunities. After all, children couldn't be blamed for their parents' sins.

That made him a little happy, so he smiled.

A short while after waiting, Murong Yun came out again.

"The Slaughter King said that you can only enter the Hell Path after a subsequent battle in the Hell Slaughter Arena."

"Well..." Percy nodded seriously before turning and returning the way he came from and entering another house.

After all, in this place, you could live wherever you wanted as long as you had the power.
