Chapter 28: Chapter 28: The Abyss Strikes Back

Chapter 28: The Abyss Strikes Back

The silence before the next storm was short-lived. Shen Liang could feel it in the very foundation of his world—the Abyss was no longer probing. It was retaliating.

The envoy's expression was grim as the system pulsed another warning.

[System Alert: Abyssal Forces Mobilizing – Large-Scale Incursion Imminent]

The sky above them split apart again, but this time, it was not a slow fracture—it was an explosion. From the rift, entire legions of abyssal titans descended all at once. No longer shapeless, no longer unstable—they had adapted. Their forms were fixed, their movements precise. They had rewritten themselves into something capable of fighting in this world.

The abyssal warlord unsheathed his blade. "They're no longer testing us. They're here to kill."

The silver-flamed woman's voice was tight. "Then we burn them before they burn us."

Shen Liang did not hesitate. He raised his hand, and the land answered. Reality itself bent, warping around his will, creating barriers of shifting energy, new laws of existence that the invaders would have to break before they could even set foot on his world.

The titans roared. And then, they charged.

The battle for existence had begun anew.

The ground trembled beneath the weight of the Abyss's assault. Shadows coiled and pulsed like living creatures, devouring the light, warping the landscape as the abyssal titans advanced. But Shen Liang's world was not one to surrender. The mountains roared to life, shifting their jagged peaks to impale incoming invaders, while rivers of molten energy surged through the battlefield, carving lines of defense through the enemy ranks.

Shen Liang extended his senses outward, reaching into the very fabric of his creation. This was his domain. He would not allow it to be overrun.

[System Override: Reality Reinforcement Protocol Engaged – Increasing World Stability]

The silver-flamed woman launched forward, flames surging in a spiraling storm that incinerated dozens of titans in an instant. But as their bodies disintegrated, their remains twisted unnaturally, forming new abominations—entities even more grotesque and adapted to counter their previous destruction.

"They're evolving too fast!" she called out. "Destroying them isn't enough!"

The envoy's voice rang clear. "We need to sever their connection to the Abyss itself. They are not just creatures; they are extensions of something greater."

Shen Liang's mind raced. If the Abyss itself was feeding them, then brute force would never be enough. He needed a way to cut them off—to make them truly mortal.

He closed his eyes and reached deeper, beyond the battlefield, beyond the war itself, into the very root of the Abyss's existence.

And there, he found it. A pulse—an ancient, writhing hunger that was not merely attacking his world, but anchoring itself within it.

Shen Liang's eyes snapped open. "The Abyss is trying to fuse with this reality. It's no longer just an invasion—it's an assimilation."

The abyssal warlord growled. "Then we rip it out before it takes hold."

Shen Liang lifted both hands, his voice reverberating through the realm. "I reject you."

The sky shattered with his declaration, and the world trembled as his will surged through it. The titans faltered mid-charge. The battlefield itself began rejecting them.

[System Alert: Intrusion Countermeasure Deployed – Abyssal Entities Disconnected]

For the first time, the abyssal forces hesitated.

And Shen Liang did not.

He surged forward, a force of nature incarnate, his power intertwining with the very reality he had created. With a single motion, he unleashed an attack that did not merely destroy—it erased. Titans disintegrated without reforming, severed from their source. Shadows recoiled and withered.

But the Abyss was not yet finished.

As the void trembled, a new force emerged from its depths—something more ancient, more insidious. A massive rift split the battlefield, and from its abyssal depths, a single colossal entity began to rise.

The silver-flamed woman gasped. "This… this isn't just another titan. This is something else."

The entity's form was unlike anything they had seen before. It was not merely vast, but infinite, stretching in all directions, existing across multiple planes at once. It had no single shape, shifting between monstrous forms—one moment a writhing mass of limbs, the next an immense abyssal deity whose very presence distorted space.

Shen Liang's gaze remained unwavering. "Then we end it before it becomes something more."

The final stage of the battle had begun.

The entity did not lunge like the others. It consumed. Its presence alone devoured reality, unraveling the very laws that Shen Liang had forged. His warriors faltered as the air itself twisted against them, their bodies flickering between existence and dissolution.

The envoy clenched their fists. "This thing doesn't fight like a creature. It's fighting like a concept."

Shen Liang's mind raced. The Abyss was no longer sending soldiers—it was sending ideas, infecting his world with its very essence.

But he was no longer just a cultivator. He was no longer bound by the rules of an old world.

He raised his arms, and the world itself answered.

[System Override: Conceptual Lock Engaged – Defining Reality]

The laws of his realm solidified. Space bent under his command, forging immutable structures of existence that the entity could not consume. It had come to rewrite his world, but it had underestimated him.

The silver-flamed woman steadied herself, her eyes burning with renewed strength. "Then let's show it that concepts can be burned."

Shen Liang stepped forward, his voice cutting through the chaos.

"You do not belong here. And you never will."

He clenched his fist, and reality itself crushed the invading force.
