Heavens' Laughter

Chapter 84: Disturbance

Yùn Yì's brow furrowed slightly as she tried to pull her arm free, though the grip wasn't overly forceful—just enough to keep her in place.

"Let. Go. Of. Me."

Cai Xiu shook her head. "No. Don't impede Master or else."

She was completely serious, having come to the unmistakable conclusion that this personal servant was more than just baggage—she was an outright burden.

It had become glaringly obvious that this girl lacked the resilience to face anything remotely violent, let alone the brutal reality.

"How dare you!" Yùn Yì growled, her voice laced with icy defiance.

She shook off the hand gripping her arm, her body instinctively turning cold as her unique physique allowed.

The sudden chill forced Cai Xiu to recoil, her grip slipping away. "Ouch…"

"I would never impede the Second Young Master!" Yùn Yì snapped, her tone sharp and unwavering.

The accusation stung more than she cared to admit, striking a nerve she had long tried to ignore.

Yùn Yì was deeply offended—not because the claim was entirely baseless, but because it came from someone she disliked.

She was already well aware of her shortcomings and had been working tirelessly to overcome them.

However, having them pointed out so brazenly, and by "her" of all people, was a bitter pill Yùn Yì refused to swallow.

Before Cai Xiu could open her mouth to unleash a barrage of sharp, unkind words, she hesitated, irritation flashing in her eyes as she flicked the icy particles off her hand.

Each flake melted into droplets against her skin, her frustration clear in the tension of her movements.

Cai Xiu's lips parted, a cutting retort already forming, but before the words could leave her tongue, a sharp pop broke through.

The sound was unexpected and jarring, cutting through their standoff like a knife.

Both Yùn Yì and Cai Xiu froze, their gazes darting in the direction of the noise.

For a brief moment, neither moved, the tension between them replaced by wary curiosity.

Then Yùn Yì and Cai Xiu exchanged a glance, their eyes silently conversing in a language only they understood.

There was no need for words—just a subtle nod from each of them as they instinctively moved in unison toward the source of the noise.

Yùn Yì and Cai Xiu's steps were measured but quick.

When they arrived, the sight that greeted them was neither shocking nor unexpected.

If anything, it was exactly what Cai Xiu had anticipated.

Feng Shen stood motionless above a lifeless body—a man whose face was a gruesome, unrecognizable mess.

The skin had been entirely stripped away, leaving raw, bloodied muscle exposed, and his features were caved in from a savage beating.

Blood pooled thickly on the rug beneath, soaking into the fabric, while dark splatters painted the bed and surrounding walls.

The metallic stench of blood hung heavy in the air.

Sensing their presence, Feng Shen's expression shifted, the cold detachment in his eyes melting into a small, unsettling smile.

Without turning fully, he glanced over his shoulder at his personal servant and the little maid, his gaze sharp yet deceptively cheerful.

"Well, well," Feng Shen said, clapping his hands together. "It seems this room has just opened up~! Lucky you~."

He then pivoted fully to face his personal servant and little maid, his smile widening:

"Only issue is… that it's a little messy."

Feng Shen let out a sigh, rubbing the back of his head as his eyes swept around.

He then placed his hands on his hips, clicking his tongue a couple of times in mild frustration.

"Tsk, tsk," Feng Shen muttered. "What a mess..."

He seemed almost helpless as he regarded the blood splattered across the room, clearly unprepared for just how far it had flown.

"I really didn't think it'd get everywhere," Feng Shen added, shaking his head, treating it as an inconvenience.

For a few seconds, silence hung.

Finally, Cai Xiu broke it, her voice calm. She nudged the shoulder beside her, gesturing toward the blood as she spoke.

"It's fine, Master," she said smoothly, a faint smirk playing on her lips. "Your personal servant can handle the cleanup. After all, this is her new room now."

Before Yùn Yì could have any say…

Feng Shen clapped his hands together once more, his smile widening as he gave a slight tilt of his head. "Actually, I have a better idea~" he said, his tone light but laced with amusement:

"How about the both of you clean up this little mess?"

"Huh…???" Cai Xiu felt her expression twitch.

"After all… You two could use a little bonding, don't you think?" Feng Shen let out a small chuckle.

He was well aware of the little maid's playful attempt to push the responsibility onto his personal servant, knowing full well how difficult the task would be.

And, of course, Feng Shen knew that the two of them didn't exactly get along.

He wasn't one to play favorites, though—at least, not so openly.

Both of them were valuable to him in their own ways, perfect tools to help Feng Shen grow stronger.

Yùn Yì's eyes instantly softened, turning into small hearts as she misinterpreted those words as a subtle defense of her.

Her heart swelled with warmth, and a genuine, tender smile spread across her face.

'I truly am lucky to love this man…' Yùn Yì's thought, her affection for the Second Young Master growing even more in that simple moment.

Cai Xiu was on the verge of being rebellious, her frustration bubbling to the surface:

'I refuse to "bond" with this girl!'

But the moment Cai Xiu's eyes met her Master's, she was struck by the chilling emptiness in his golden gaze.

It was a void that seemed to swallow everything—every ounce of defiance, every thought of rebellion.

In that instant, Cai Xiu knew her place.

She swallowed hard, the weight of her Master's stare silencing her.

Cai Xiu's shoulders slumped in reluctant submission, and with a sigh, she lowered her head in defeat.

"I understand…" she murmured, her voice soft and resigned, the rebellion fading away like a fleeting thought.

Walking past both his little maid and personal servant…

Feng Shen reached out and tapped his little maid lightly on the shoulder.

He turned toward the door. Just before he exited, he paused for a moment, his voice carrying a slight edge of finality.

"I'm glad you understand," Feng Shen said. "I'm heading to cultivate in my room. Nobody better bother me."

Inside his room…

Feng Shen had been cultivating peacefully for the past couple of hours, sitting cross-legged on his bed.

The dim light of the room cast soft shadows over him as he breathed slowly, his focus unwavering.

Time seemed to stretch and bend around Feng Shen, each passing minute slipping by unnoticed as he immersed himself in his cultivation.

His golden eyes remained closed, his thoughts completely absorbed in the flow of energy coursing through him.

However, Feng Shen's eyes suddenly snapped open, the serene calm of his cultivation shattered in an instant.

His golden gaze shifted from the window, where the pale light of the moon bathed the outside world in an eerie glow, and landed on a figure standing silently in the corner of his room.

Feng Shen sighed:

"Ah~ the only female instructor. It's surprising, really. A woman like you should be at home, married, and fulfilling your true duties—caring for your husband and managing a household, not wasting your time with such things.

Mei Xue ignored those words, her focus entirely on the young man before her.

With a deliberate, seductive grace, she stepped forward, her movements slow and fluid.

As Mei Xue approached, a soft, light pink mist began to radiate from her body, the ethereal glow enveloping her in an almost otherworldly aura.

A sultry smile curved her lips, and her eyes locked onto the young man's with an intensity that hinted at more than just casual interest.

Stopping mere inches away from him, Mei Xue leaned in slightly, her voice low and dripping with allure.

"You truly are destined to shake the very Heavens," she purred. "A true genius… undoubtedly, you'll have an infinite number of wives…"

Mei Xue smile deepened, the suggestion in her words clear as she gazed up at the young man:

"And I think I just might fit that criteria~"

Just as Mei Xue's hand was about to make contact with the young man's face, a sudden, oppressive killing intent filled the air, striking her like a physical blow.

Her breath caught in her throat, and the seductive technique she had carefully cultivated around herself shattered in an instant.

The light pink mist that had swirled around Mei Xue evaporated with a violent force, as if torn apart by an invisible hand.

Before she could react, she found herself slammed to the floor, the overwhelming pressure rendering her unable to move.

Mei Xue's limbs were locked in place.

"Now, now~ you don't need to be so rough~…"

Feng Shen's expression was icy, his golden eyes narrowing. His voice, cold and devoid of emotion:

"Give me one reason why I shouldn't kill you for disturbing me."

In a heartbeat, the air around Feng Shen seemed to thicken, the faintest trace of energy swirling as he prepared to form a dagger of Qi.

His intent was clear—one flick of his wrist, and this woman's head would be severed without a second thought.
