Chapter 22: Han Fei's Treatment Part 2

Victor had returned to the palace not long ago, but neither his wives nor his son were there. He was sitting quietly in the hall, waiting for everyone.

Just then, he saw Evelen and Adrien approaching from the gate. But when he noticed an unfamiliar, unconscious girl cradled in Evelen's arms, his brows drew together in concern. He immediately focused his spiritual sense on the girl.

What he sensed made Victor's skin prickle. Inside that girl's body was a poison so dreadful that even he wasn't sure he would survive if the same venom were inflicted on him.

He quickly asked Evelen, "Little Evelen, who is this girl? And why have you brought her here?"

Already tense, Evelen felt her face flush with anger the moment she heard her husband call her 'Little Evelen'—especially in front of their son. In a sharp voice, she snapped, "Can't you see? Adrien is with us... and you're calling me by that name?"

Victor realized his mistake immediately. He smiled apologetically and said, "My dear Evelen, I was only teasing. But… this girl's condition seems extremely critical. Why have you brought her here?"

Evelen replied in a cold tone, "If you want answers, ask Adrien. All I know is that he intends to treat her."

Victor's gaze shifted to his son. He looked first at Adrien, then at the girl, and said gravely, "Adrien, do you truly believe this girl can be saved?"

Adrien lowered his eyes and said, "Father, whether she will survive or not—I honestly don't know. But I want to try with everything I have."

Victor's voice deepened. "The poison within her is so terrible that perhaps even I would fall victim to it. Whatever you do, think carefully before you begin, son."

Though Victor knew his son never acted recklessly, as a father, he still felt compelled to warn him.

At that moment, Miya and Chen entered through the palace doors. They bowed respectfully to Victor, then walked straight over to Adrien.

Adrien said, "Mother, let's bring Han Fi to the garden."

When they reached the garden, Adrien found a level spot. He picked up a piece of wood lying nearby and began to draw the outline of the sacred mark on the ground exactly as the System had instructed him.

The System's voice sounded:

"Host, please confirm the precision of the shape. Even a single error in the sacred mark can be fatal."

Adrien carefully compared the pattern he had drawn with the original mark displayed by the System. He found a few discrepancies, which he corrected with deliberate care.

Meanwhile, Selena returned—carrying all the sacrificial materials Adrien had asked her to fetch.

Once the mark's design was perfectly completed, Adrien exhaled in relief. He looked at Selena and asked, "Mother, did you bring everything?"

Selena nodded and began taking out the items one by one:

— Blue Spirit Crystal

— Golden Lotus Petals

— Soul Incense

— Sacrificial Thread

— Seven sacrificial animals

Adrien took a deep breath. "Alright. Let's begin."

He picked up the sacrificial thread and gently tied it around the necks of the seven animals. Then he moved to one side of the mark and lit the Soul Incense. In the next direction, he laid down the Golden Lotus Petals. At the very center, he positioned the Blue Spirit Crystal.

Turning toward Evelen, he said, "Mother, please lay Han Fi in the center of the mark."

Evelen didn't ask any questions and did exactly as he asked.

When Han Fi had been laid down, Adrien looked at his father with a grave expression.

"Father, during this process… if my energy runs low—if I signal you or lose consciousness—please channel your energy into me. And if I completely black out, please proceed with the plan yourself. Try to capture as many of them alive as possible. I'll explain the reason to you later."

Victor studied his son intently. Then he said, "Very well, son. I'll wait. We'll face this together."

Adrien nodded slowly and replied, "No, Father, this process is going to exhaust me completely. Afterward, I'll need to rest. But please remember everything I have told you."

Victor reassured him, "All right. I will do my best to capture as many alive as possible."

Adrien looked around, issuing one final warning: "And yes—everyone, be careful. No matter what happens inside this mark, do not approach it. If anyone steps closer, both Han Fi and I will be in mortal danger. Until everything appears completely calm, no one must come near."

After that, Adrien asked his mother for a sword. Selena, without saying a word, unfastened her sword and handed it to her son.

Adrien made a deep cut across his own palm. Then he spread his blood across Han Fi's wrist, tracing a special constitutional sigil. Afterward, he made a small incision on Han Fi's wrist as well, letting her blood drip into his palm so that the blood-bond of the mark could be completed.

Once all these essential actions were done, Adrien placed the seven animals in their designated positions around the mark. Then, filling the blade with his qi, he swung in a single breath—seven swift strikes—and all seven animals were beheaded at once. Their blood began flowing into the channels of the sacred mark.

As the blood started to fill the markings, golden light began to pour from the lines. The thicker and richer the blood grew, the more intense the radiance became—like Heaven itself was watching the sacrifice.

When the sacred mark was finally saturated with blood,

the System's voice echoed—

"Host, now recite the ancient sacrificial incantation that can open the Gate of Fate. Remember—every word must be pure and resonant… a single misstep will cause the entire ritual to fail."

Adrien joined both hands, bowed his head toward the sacred mark, and closed his eyes. His lips began to move.

In an ancient, long-lost language, his voice began to ring out—a tongue neither Evelen, nor Selena, nor Victor could recognize:

"O Lords of the Divine,

You who inscribe the destinies of sky and earth,

Accept this sacrifice of mine.

From the depths of my soul,

I surrender a fragment of my fate to this girl.

Let my blood flow within her breaths,

Let my destiny descend into her life.

O Guardians of Fate, fulfill this plea."

As the final word was spoken, the entire sacred mark ignited like golden fire—but this flame was not hot; it was a cool blaze filled with divinity.

But then… dark clouds began to gather across the sky.

Storm winds began to howl through the entire palace. In the distance, lightning cracked across the sky, and for a moment it felt as if the entire cosmos itself was rejecting the ritual.

Evelen gasped in fear. "What… what is happening!?"

Selena said in a grave voice, "This is nature's wrath… but if Adrien is making a sacrifice, why would nature oppose it?"

Victor replied, "Perhaps Adrien is doing something more than just a sacrifice—something nature cannot tolerate."

Victor pushed his qi to its absolute limit, preparing himself. If nature's fury grew any stronger, he was ready to do whatever it took to save Adrien.

With a peal of thunder, rain began pouring down, and the fierce winds shook the entire garden.

Adrien's body had begun to tremble. His eyes were shut, sweat streaming down his forehead without pause. Around him, golden flames and blue lightning swirled in a chaotic dance.

The System's slow, somber voice spoke:

"Host, nature does not accept this interference. Warning: the burden on the body will be severe."

Suddenly, a sphere of lightning plunged from the sky straight toward the sacred mark—but at that instant, Victor lunged forward, creating a barrier of spiritual energy.

The lightning struck his shield, exploding in a blinding flash before dissipating into the air. But a fraction of the current still broke through, striking Adrien and leaving minor injuries across his arms and shoulders.

Victor roared, "Adrien, hold on, son! You are not alone!"

At that moment, a subtle, invisible energy enveloped Adrien—no one could see it, but its presence was undeniable. The rain and lightning could no longer pierce the space within the mark.

The System's inner voice sounded:

"Secret protective mode activated… covert intervention authorized. Host's survival is priority."

Nature's opposition only intensified. This time, another massive bolt of lightning formed within the clouds—ten times stronger than the last.

Selena looked up at the seething sphere of energy and cried, "No—this is too much! We have to stop Adrien—if we don't, the consequences could be catastrophic!"

But from the System, an invisible force rippled out, and for several breaths, the flow of time in that part of the cosmos simply… halted.

It was as if nature itself recognized this abrupt change.

Then, gradually, the dark clouds began to recede, drifting away until everything looked as calm and ordinary as if nothing had ever happened.

Victor and everyone else watched in disbelief as the enormous lightning sphere slowly faded into nothing. They all let out a breath of relief.

Adrien was now trembling as he continued to chant. His hands were still joined, but pain was etched into every line of his face.

When the seventh Fate Point finished transferring, the mark ignited one final time in golden light. But now the lightning and rain had stilled… as though even nature itself had bowed before the sacrifice.

Han Fi's body was gently lowered back to the ground. The pallor of her skin had faded; a quiet peace had returned to her face.

Adrien opened his eyes, managed a weak smile… and then collapsed in place.

Evelen screamed, "Adrien!!"

But Victor was already there to catch him. He quickly checked Adrien's pulse and exhaled a shaky breath. "He's alive… but unconscious."

Victor pressed a healing pill into his mouth.

Selena bent over Han Fi, examined her, and whispered, "He… he truly did it."

Mian and Chen, who had been watching all this from a distance, now came running through their tears to Han Fi's side.

Chen sobbed uncontrollably. "Young Master… you pulled my sister back from death…"

Evelen came forward, resting her hand on Adrien's forehead. "You endured all of this… without saying a word…"

The System remained silent. But somewhere far beyond, in an otherworldly realm, great divine beings had turned their gaze toward this corner of the cosmos where such upheaval had just occurred.

From Adrien's body, an invisible power emerged and spread outward around Planet Grifen.

This unseen force wove itself through the fabric of the planet's laws—transforming them—and severed this entire region from the rest of the universe.
