Chapter 40: For the Women I Cherish
Adrian looked at Alina with a gaze that was both serious and gentle, his voice carrying a deep sense of gratitude and warmth.
"All of this happened because of you," he said in a low voice. "You gave me the Dragon Heart Lotus, which allowed the Dentian Expansion Pill to be created… and because of that, I was able to enter the Soul Realm."
Alina's expression remained calm, but pride and affection shone clearly in her eyes.
Adrian then slowly retrieved a beautiful box from his inner storage. It was crafted from black sandalwood, adorned with ancient glowing runes that shimmered faintly with golden light. The box itself felt alive with energy.
"Alina," he said softly, "It's because of you that I obtained the Dentian Expansion Pill."
He gently extended the box toward her and added,
"Inside are three pills — the Dentian Expansion Pill, the Bone Marrow Pill, and the Body Refining Pill. These will elevate your cultivation to new heights. Please accept this... not as a gift, but as a symbol of your contribution."
Alina looked at him silently for a few moments, then gave a faint smile.
"Adrian, there's no need for this," she said softly. "What's mine is already yours…"
Adrian gently interrupted her.
"Alina, I understand your feelings. You are my woman, and your cultivation — your future — is my responsibility now. I'm giving you these pills not as an exchange, but because I want to see you surpass even me."
Alina's cheeks flushed a soft rose red. Hearing Adrian call her his woman made her heart flutter. She smiled sweetly, took the box with both hands, and shyly placed it into her storage ring.
In the corner of the room, Han Fei stood silently, watching the closeness between Adrian and Alina. A faint trace of envy crossed her face, mixed with hidden emotional conflict.
Adrian noticed and understood immediately. He gave a soft smile, then pulled out another rune-engraved wooden box and gently walked over to Han Fei, placing a hand on her head affectionately.
"Han Fei," he said tenderly, "this is for you."
Han Fei's eyes widened slightly as she took the box in her hands.
"Don't you have a storage ring?" Adrian asked. "Didn't your parents give you one?"
Han Fei responded in a quiet voice,
"I never really needed one… so I never asked my parents for it."
Without hesitation, Adrian contacted his system mentally:
"System, give me a storage ring. Fill it with 500,000 low-level spirit stones, healing pills, and qi restoration pills."
The system's voice responded:
"Host, over 200 points have been spent. The requested items have been placed into the storage ring."
Moments later, a shimmering black ring with glowing blue runes appeared in Adrian's hand. He handed it to Han Fei and said:
"Take this. Just drop a drop of your blood on it so it can recognize you as its master."
Though surprised, Han Fei did as instructed. The runes on the ring lit up brightly, and it snugly settled onto her hand, acknowledging her as its rightful owner.
When Alina saw the ring, her eyes widened in astonishment."Adrian," she whispered, "is that… is that a Soul-level storage ring?"
Adrian himself looked puzzled. He immediately asked the system,
"System, is this a Soul-level ring?"
The system replied mockingly,
"Host, I don't deal in garbage like Soul-grade. I only store Universal-grade items."
Adrian shot back,
"Just answer the question. No need for a memoir."
The system finally answered,
"It's a Saint-grade ring. It contains defensive seals strong enough to stop even a Half-Saint from opening it. Only its rightful master can access it — otherwise, it becomes a weapon."
Adrian looked at Alina and said with quiet seriousness,"This ring is Saint-grade. I bought one for you as well."
He took out another Saint-grade ring and handed it to her.
Alina's eyes sparkled. Her face lit up with a bright smile as she accepted it, stepping close and placing a soft kiss on Adrian's cheek."Adrian… you're truly amazing," she said softly, her eyes filled with genuine love and admiration.
Saint-grade storage rings were incredibly rare and priceless. Only members of top sects, royal bloodlines, or ancient hidden clans had access to such items. Owning one was a mark of great power and prestige.
That Adrian had gifted not just one but two Saint-grade rings — one to Alina and one to Han Fei — spoke volumes about his selflessness and the depth of his feelings.
"Nothing is more important to me than the two of you,"he said calmly but with firm resolve, and the atmosphere in the room grew heavy with emotion.
When Alina began pulling items from her new ring, Adrian's eyes drifted over her possessions.
A basic Soul-grade sword... an average Soul armor... a few mid-grade pills... and some simple clothing.
"So powerful… yet with such limited resources,"Adrian thought, and his heart swelled with warmth for her.
Without a word, he picked up Alina's Soul-grade sword and armor.
Alina blinked in confusion."Adrian, what are you doing?"
Instead of answering, Adrian pulled out five hundred thousand low-grade spirit stones from his own ring —they glowed with brilliant blue light, like sparks bursting from a pile of crystal fire.
It looked as though a treasure trove had opened right before her eyes.
From the pile, Adrian bought a highly refined King-grade sword and armor — not only powerful but also elegantly crafted — and handed them to her.
Alina's eyes widened in disbelief at the radiant weapons and the shimmering mountain of spirit stones.
"Adrian… what am I supposed to do with so many spirit stones?"she whispered.
"Keep them,"Adrian smiled,"Use them to advance your cultivation. Your strength matters more to me than anything else."
Han Fei stood silently in the background, watching everything unfold.Seeing Alina receive half a million spirit stones, she curiously opened her own Saint-grade ring.
Her breath caught in her throat — it was filled with thousands of healing pills, high-grade artifacts, and spirit stones.
"All this…"she murmured to herself, trembling with a mixture of joy, love, and disbelief.
When everything settled, Adrian turned to Alina."I'm heading out. Would you like to come with me?"
Alina nodded with a warm smile. Han Fei quietly made her way back to the Thorn Palace.
The moment Adrian and Alina entered their room and the door closed behind them —Adrian pulled her into his arms without a word.
Alina gasped,"A-Adrian—!"
But her words faded the moment his lips met hers.It was deep… warm… and full of emotion.
Alina's eyes slowly fluttered shut. Her heart pounded. Her breath grew heavier. As she surrendered to the kiss, Adrian gently parted her lips with his tongue, slipping inside.
Their tongues intertwined — searching, clashing, entwining — wrestling gently for control, yet savoring every second of closeness.
When their breathing grew ragged, Adrian pulled away slightly, lifting her effortlessly into his arms and placing her gently on the bed.
Alina's cheeks were flushed. Her breathing remained unsteady.Adrian looked down at her — at the glow of her skin, the warmth of her breath, the blush on her cheeks…
"You're… breathtakingly beautiful, Alina,"he whispered.
Alina's face turned an even deeper shade of red. Her heart raced. This man… was hers. And she… wanted to give herself to him completely.
Meanwhile, miles away from Sphere City — A grand caravan sped through the night.Dark-cloaked carriages moved swiftly, as though concealing their presence.
Inside, several women sat, protected by two powerful King-rank cultivators.
A striking woman with shimmering blue hair and star-like eyes turned to a young girl beside her."Sophia, you seem lost in thought."
Sophia lowered her head,"It's nothing, Master… it's just… I got a message from my father. My brother, Adrian, will be attending the Sphere City auction too…"
The woman smiled,"That's wonderful. You'll get to see him."
But Sophia remained quiet.
Her gaze drifted out the window, lost in the darkness...lost in memories of chasing through the fields with Adrian, laughing together —until suddenly, everything had been taken from her.
