Chapter 25: just wait for your doom!
Actually, James and Ophelia had no business dining at a place like Jacques Bistro Restaurant. They were only there because one of James's friend was celebrating a birthday. He had initially come over just to see what was happening, but he never expected the person in trouble to be Willson.
The last time at the Prosperity Hotel, Willson had humiliated him, and he had been looking for a chance to get back at him ever since. This was the perfect opportunity.
James thought to himself that if even he couldn't afford the high prices at Jacques Bistro Restaurant, there was no way Willson could. Willson had spent a lot of money at the Prosperity Hotel last time; how could he possibly have money left to spend here?
"Manager Morgan, if you don't believe me, my current girlfriend is Willson's ex. She can testify!" James said, seeing that the manager hadn't responded."Yes, I'm his ex-girlfriend!" Ophelia stepped forward, supporting James's claim. The crowd turned to look at Ophelia in disbelief. Who would have thought that even Willson's ex-girlfriend would step forward to kick him while he was down?
Erica, seeing Ophelia step forward, felt even more triumphant.
"The reason I broke up with him was because he was really poor. Do you see that shirt he's wearing? I bought it for seventy bucks at a street stall three years ago, and he's been wearing it ever since, never buying new clothes. He couldn't even afford meals at school and had to rely on others' charity. Do you really think someone who couldn't afford campus cafeteria food could have money to dine at such a fancy restaurant?"Ophelia's words were harsh and left no room for Willson to save face.
If James and Erica's words weren't convincing enough, surely Willson's own ex-girlfriend's testimony would be.
The crowd's gaze towards Willson was now filled with contempt.
Willson's gaze remained calm as he looked in Ophelia's direction. He couldn't understand why he had been so poor when he was with Ophelia. Didn't she realize it herself?
Every penny Willson earned from his part-time jobs went to Ophelia, satisfying her vanity. Even if it meant he couldn't afford to eat, he would still buy her the clothes and lipstick she liked! If it weren't for Ophelia, how could Willson have ended up in such a state?Willson could accept that Ophelia left him because he had no money. After all, everyone has the right to make their own choices. But what he couldn't understand was why Ophelia kept targeting him even after they broke up.
"Manager Morgan, isn't your restaurant always membership-only? Why don't you check if this person has a membership card?" James continued.
"That's right!"
Manager Morgan suddenly realized what James meant. He stepped forward, expressionless, and said to Willson, "Sir, please show us your membership card."
Willson shook his head slightly and said with a blank expression, "I don't have a membership card for this place."
The crowd erupted in whispers. Willson's admission was as good as confessing he wasn't there to dine. If he wasn't there to eat, then what was he doing?Ophelia's face lit up with a smug expression as she looked at Willson.
"Willson, do you think winning a Hundred thousand dollars can change your fate as a poor loser? Do you really think you belong in a place like Jacques Bistro Restaurant?" Ophelia couldn't help but sneer inwardly.
James was even more pleased, his eyes cold as he looked at Willson. This was exactly the effect he wanted. With just a few casual words, he could crush Willson under his foot. A loser will always be a loser. The idea of a poor guy suddenly becoming rich only happens in TV dramas.
Of course, the happiest person at the moment was Erica. Just a moment ago, she had nearly given up when Manager Morgan demanded evidence from her. But out of nowhere, two people appeared and helped her out. Finally, she had the chance to get back at Willson for what he had done to her. The elegant beauty glanced at Willson in the crowd, a hint of pity flashing in her eyes. She felt that her cousin, Ophelia and James had gone too far. Even if Willson didn't have the money to dine at such a place, they shouldn't have humiliated him like this.
For a man, this was a complete trampling of his dignity."Kid, if you're not here to dine at our restaurant, then what are you here for?" Manager Morgan shouted at Willson, his face contorted with anger. "Are you saying I can't dine here without a membership card?" Willson asked back, his face expressionless.
"Of course! Everyone in Sunshire City knows that Jacques Bistro Restaurant is members-only. Without a membership card, there's no way you can eat here!" Manager Morgan yelled at the top of his lungs.
"I was invited by someone else to dine here," Willson said calmly.
"Invited by someone else?" Manager Morgan was momentarily stunned by this statement. "Yes," Willson nodded.
"Who would invite someone like you to dine here? Willson, even now you're still lying. It's ridiculous. Do you think everyone at Jacques Bistro Restaurant is a fool?" Ophelia sneered."What are you all standing around for? I suspect this kid is here to steal from the Restaurant. Grab him!" Manager Morgan, now furious, turned and shouted at the security guards behind him.
"Wait a minute!"
Erica quickly called out when she saw the security guards about to make their move.
Manager Morgan couldn't help but turn his head to look at her, a hint of confusion flashing in his eyes.
Erica, walking gracefully in her high heels, approached Willson and softly said, "Willson, do you remember what I just told you? If you kneel down and apologize to me, I'll plead with Manager Morgan to let you go." "Why should I apologize to you?" Willson glanced at Erica indifferently and asked in a calm voice."Stubborn as a mule. Fine, then just wait for your doom!" Erica's eyes flashed with disdain as she pouted and shouted.
"Clatter!"
As soon as Wynter stepped aside, seven or eight security guards rushed towards Willson.
"Ring, ring!"
At that moment, Willson's phone suddenly started ringing.
