Chapter 60: Stormterror, My Future Ride
Earlier, Xu Zheng had asked Eula a very serious question:
"Is there a traveler in Mondstadt? Kinda dumb but cute, willing to do anything if you give them mora?"
Eula thought about it, then said, "Nope."
Based on that, along with a few other clues, Xu Zheng could reasonably conclude that the Traveler hadn't shown up yet in this timeline.
But they would soon.
After all, Stormterror was still waiting to be rescued.
And now that he thought about it…
Xu Zheng grew increasingly curious.
What would Stormterror look like in this version of Teyvat?
And more importantly: If he could tame that dragon and use it as a mount… wouldn't that make map exploration way more convenient?
Noon.
"Let's go! Time to find Xiangling!"
Xu Zheng shouted boldly in the middle of the street, drawing the attention of nearly every passerby.
He didn't care.
He was walking hand-in-hand with Ganyu, striding toward Wanmin Restaurant like they owned the damn city.
Even though he'd already grown up overnight, Ganyu still instinctively held his hand.
Soft. Warm. Slightly cool to the touch.
Heh heh… Master's hand feels amazing.
"Oh, right! Master, here, take this."
Xu Zheng handed her a kamera, the old-school kind that took actual prints.
"If Xiangling shows any funny faces today, make sure you snap a picture, alright?"
"Alright," Ganyu nodded seriously.
Then, after a pause…
Click!
She turned the kamera toward Xu Zheng and took one.
At Wanmin Restaurant—
Xu Zheng and Ganyu stepped inside, still holding hands.
The diners near the door gave them a quick glance, then went back to their food.
Then someone noticed. Really noticed.
"Wait—who the hell is that guy holding hands with Lady Ganyu?!"
"What?!"
Whispers rippled through the restaurant like wildfire.
Within seconds, everyone had heard.
But due to Ganyu's… lethal reputation, no one dared say anything out loud.
Instead, the entire restaurant simultaneously pretended to have a stiff neck—casually turning their heads one by one, trying to sneak peeks.
It looked like a horror movie.
A room full of possessed diners, all slowly twisting their necks like haunted puppets.
Right then, Xiangling walked out of the kitchen—
And nearly threw her plate of food into the ceiling.
What the actual hell is happening out here?!
Dozens of people. All doing synchronized neck yoga.
She stared in disbelief.
Did I open the door wrong?
She walked back into the kitchen, counted to three, and tried again.
This time, nobody was twisting their necks. Everything seemed normal.
Except…
There was a young man beside Ganyu, staring straight at her.
Xiangling approached.
"Good afternoon, Ganyu," she greeted politely.
"Good afternoon," Ganyu replied with a soft smile.
"Is little Xu Zheng not here today? Did something happen? Is he sick?"
Xiangling's brain immediately fired off worst-case scenarios:
Got hit by a carriage.
Caught a deadly fever.
Fell off a cliff.
Xiangling's face paled with concern. "Ganyu, what happened to Xu Zheng? Why aren't you saying anything?!"
Ganyu: (╯°□°)╯︵┻━┻
You're not even giving me a chance to speak.
Xu Zheng cleared his throat. "Ahem."
Xiangling turned to him. "Oh, is your throat sore? We've got floral tea for that! Helps reduce inflammation."
That tea recipe, by the way, was something she and Xu Zheng had worked on together just a few days ago.
Xu Zheng had introduced her to the concept of flower teas—something Liyue oddly lacked. On his home planet, rose, chrysanthemum, and honeysuckle teas were all common.
Each flower had its own effect. The trick was finding one that suited your body.
But here Xiangling was, talking to him like he was a complete stranger.
"Xiangling, don't you think I look a lot like Xu Zheng?"
Xu Zheng stared at her, deadpan.
Girl. The tea you're recommending? I INVENTED IT.
Xiangling studied his face, eyes narrowing.
Then suddenly—
"Ohhh! You must be his father! Wait no, that's not right… Brother, maybe?"
What the actual—
"Master," Xu Zheng sighed, "please explain this to her."
"Okay."
Ganyu nodded, then turned to Xiangling.
"Let's go somewhere more private."
This wasn't something to be shouted about in the middle of a restaurant.
After all, most people in Liyue still thought the horns on Ganyu's head were accessories. Best not to add more weirdness to the pile.
So Xu Zheng, Ganyu, and Xiangling moved into a private booth with decent soundproofing.
Inside the room:
Blah blah blah blah blah…
Ganyu patiently explained the whole thing.
That Xu Zheng was her disciple.
That he had a weird body.
That said body decided to grow up overnight.
Xiangling's facial expressions during this conversation were… wild.
Thankfully, the kamera captured plenty of blackmail—er, precious memories along the way.
(Note: The line about "download the app to read more" was an author ad and has been removed.)
"So… you're really Xu Zheng?" Xiangling asked, stunned.
Xu Zheng nodded.
She reached out to poke his cheek—testing the texture like she was checking if a dumpling was cooked through.
Still soft. Still familiar. A little more mature now, but definitely him.
From the side, Ganyu watched this exchange with glowing blue eyes and… slightly suspicious energy.
Xu Zheng clapped his hands.
"So, Xiangling… when's lunch? I'm starving."
Ever since his body leveled up, Xu Zheng had been permanently hungry—even after raiding Baiwen's entire snack hoard earlier that morning.
(Side note: Baiwen was still recovering emotionally from that betrayal. Those snacks were her emotional support stash. For overtime. For slacking off. Not for one teenage boy to obliterate in a single sitting.)
To be fair, Xu Zheng felt bad afterward.
So he offered to pay for the snacks.
Big mistake.
Baiwen was furious.
"If you pay after the fact," she said, eyes burning, "that's not repayment. That's solicitation."
Apparently, as long as you don't pay, it's just a casual nibble. Pay up, and you're a customer. A certain kind of customer.
"Xiangling, how could I let my disciple go hungry!" she declared proudly. "I'll go cook right now!"
Ganyu: ( ̄︶ ̄*) …I swear to Morax, if one more woman flirts with my disciple, I'm bringing out the ice.
Just then—
The door opened again.
Yanfei entered, followed by Eula.
And the plot thickens.
