Chapter 10: Magic of Everyday Life
Shen Xinghui slipped into the oversized trunks and tying the drawstring tightly, but the fit was still ridiculous.
The legs were loose, and a cold draft breezed through.
"Adjust."
The mysterious, resonant voice sounded again, and a faint light enveloped Shen Xinghui.
When it faded, the undergarments fit him perfectly.
"Wow, it's so amazing!" he exclaimed.
"There's no magic in your world either, is there?" Ignatius asked, smiling at Shen Xinghui's wide-eyed awe.
Feeling a little embarrassed but still impressed, Shen Xinghui marveled at the practicality of magic.
"In this world, there are too many species with vastly different body types to make clothes in every individual size. Instead, people choose what they like and use magic like 'Adjust' to fit it to their size. The same goes for shoes," Ignatius explained.
"What happens if it's too small?"
"It's a bit of a hassle, but we use a spell called 'Enlarge' first, then adjust it."
"Very convenient... but also kind of a process," Shen Xinghui muttered, though he couldn't deny how practical it was.
Feeling reassured, he borrowed a pair of white trousers, a white long-sleeved shirt, and a red vest, all of which were far too large initially.
After Ignatius cast the 'Adjust' spell, they fit his body perfectly.
He was also given a pair of flat-soled shoes, which were similarly resized.
"By tomorrow afternoon, we'll reach the first town. We'll get you some proper clothes then," Ignatius said.
"Wait, but I don't have any money," Shen Xinghui admitted.
"Don't worry about it. It's considered a virtue in this world to share resources and aid others if you have the means to do so," Ignatius replied warmly.
What a generous world this was, Shen Xinghui thought.
And Ignatius—did he truly have such resources to spare?
"Additionally, anyone who discovers someone from another world has the responsibility to provide protection. Abandoning that duty would earn them the label of a scoundrel. I'll make sure to get you to the authorities," Ignatius explained.
"Thank you so much for everything," Shen Xinghui said sincerely.
"Think nothing of it," Ignatius replied with a bright smile, one so dazzling it left Shen Xinghui wondering how he could ever repay such kindness.
"Now, let's head back to the living room. We can talk more about this world over dinner," Ignatius suggested.
After changing and settling in another room, Shen Xinghui found himself about to be overwhelmed again by the sheer wonder of this world.
The first thing Shen Xinghui encountered was the advanced technology—or rather, magic—of this world.
Sitting across from Ignatius at the table, he watched in amazement as the man began pulling items from his waist pouch.
The things that come out were beautifully arranged plates of fruit and vegetables, sautéed chicken, sandwiches stuffed with ham, cabbage, and tomatoes, and even a bottle of wine.
Hold on, Shen Xinghui thought.
Where was all this coming from?
That pouch?
However, it wasn't even large enough to hold a decent book, much less an entire meal!
